Frank’s, situated on top of an old multi level car park has a great buzz and a great place to witness a breathtaking sunset over the skyline of London. The location itself is an unexpected gem, the old car park has been transformed into a unique and vibrant setting. Stepping onto the rooftop you have a real sense of a fun and chilled vibe. Defiantly save for a sunny Day!!

Franks cafe is situated at the top of a multi-storey car park in Peckham.
Seing as its right on my door step I would be a fool not to sample it delights this summer. After all Time out suggested it's 'the height of trendy' being tall and trendy myself, it feels like a good fit.

So here we go.

I was Greeted by two friendly security guards who want to make sure you don't have any knives in your handbag. I informed them I was knife free but did have a bottle of vodka.......lol just kidding. They appreciated my humour and waved me through.

There it is. the iconic pink staircase that's been featuring on my news feed all summer. You can't deny its pretty sick. So out comes my iPhone for a few selfies with my mates. Some people pass judgement, lol at them I'm getting at least 25 likes for this.

Photoshoot over and now for the main event. We reach the top of the car park and BAM that view hits you.

I catch my breath and Wow. I can't deny you franks, this spot is a gem. I'm looking out over the city and I feel like I can achieve anything I want! it's Friday night and theirs a £20 note burning a hole in my pocket. Not for long.
let's hit the bar!

Mmmmmm What to choose what to choose,

No real rush as there is a massive cue. We patiently wait to be served.
Watching the bar staff serve other people is a bit like the DLR; you can see exactly where your going it just painfully slow.

The train will however eventually reach your stop. Time to tap out and order a drink!

What to have ... What to have ..,

To be honest I'm unfamiliar with most of it. I decide to put all my trust into the man serving us and ask for something he would recommend. He looked a bit taken a back but obliged. What he doesn't realise is that I am a risk taker! And a risk I took.

He made me some sort of whiskey based cocktail I think, I can't say I loved it, but only have myself to blame.

I realised my ignorance and order a gin and tonic.

To the table!

What table ? We quickly learn that to sit at a table is an ambitious idea. There are no tables. But Not to worry there's loads of free concrete to sit on. I'm No stranger to the urban outdoors so I am quite happy to sit on the floor. For those less familiar to these surroundings I would suggest bringing something to sit on or find a good wall to lean against.

We've set up camp and the evening is underway. We take some pics of the view and talk about the benefits of buying a spiralizer. I then begin to notice that at least three girls are wearing the exact same outfit as me. This is disappointing, however no reflection on franks itself.

I notice the group next to us order some food. Boy it looks good. I start chatting to one of the lady's and ask to try some of her meze platter. She agrees and I dig in.
Word To all the haters out there that say Londoners are uptight and misserable; look at me Emma from Catford sharing a meze platter at Franks Campari bar!

In terms of the crowd up here, it's fairly mixed bag. I would say 70% are straight of the bus from Clapham on their weekly Peckham safari. Can I blame them? No way.
This place is the business.

I can see exactly why someone described Franks as a 'hidden gem' on Tripadvisor. I mean calling hidden is a bit moronic but it certainly is a gem.

I then take a second to think about this Frank.... He must be laughing. I do a 360 and believe it or not there's another roof top bar! Did someone say 'trend setter?'

From a young age I have always enjoyed drinking tinnys in car parks and alley ways, it instils a feeling of ownership. The conquering of public space out of protest or rebellion. (The protest generally being underage and not aloud in the pub) So I guess that's why Frank conquered a car park and let us all play in it. I'm into it for sure, can't help but think this is a bit like purchasing a pair of pre ripped jeans......

Nether the less, Cheers to you Frank! I like ripped jeans.
I'll be back next summer.

Frank’s Cafe is an excellent place to go for a drink or street food with friends to chill and spend some time admiring the view!

The place has an art installation, hipster kind of venue but also families come as well.

Highly recommended +

Was so excited to visit franks after seeing so many of my friends visit. The view is lovely and the stairs are very Instagram friendly but the toilets !? I’ve seen festival toilets that are nicer. The toilet seat is over a massive pit of everyone else’s waste, and instead of flushing you have to throw sawdust down ‘to hide the smell’ (which it does not). It’s a shame because I would have returned if it wasn’t for that!

The great thing about this place is that it is only open for the summer so you have to get in fast otherwise you do miss out.

It is a very unassuming place as it is on top of a car park but do not judge it on its location. I love the simplicity of it all. The benches, the food, the whole feel of it.

The views are breathtaking and you need to go when the sun is going down. You will always meet interesting people there and have the most fantastic evening.

The staff are great and the drinks were fab. The only downside is the toilets. They are pretty much like festival toilets which is of course disgusting so beware when you go.

We were a group of four and arrived around 6pm on a Wednesday so we easily got a table, and didn't have to queue at the bar.

Things I liked:

The covert feel of the place - walking through a disused car-park looking for signs that you are going the right way, you feel like a cool-dude finding a 1990's rave.

The view - it's amazing, I've never seen London from this vantage point, it's beautiful on a summer evening.

The staff - really friendly bunch, haven't succumbed to the nonchalance you sometimes experience with cool staff, in cool places.

The bad:

The food, the goddam food is dreadful - £9 for 2 toasted pitta breads and dips, £6 for three chicken wings, £3 for a half baked potato, £4 for a corn on the cob...

I didn't use the loo, but I am told that it comprises festival-style pits complete with swarms of flies.

The average:

The drinks, plastic cups, warm mixers - nice bar staff, not horribly over priced (£6 for a Pimms).

All-in-all, I would go again, but I wouldn't eat there, and I wouldn't drink so much that I need to use the loo.

Was a really interesting find. Weather wasn’t great but lovely views over London. Only had drinks but the menu looked promising.

Whatever you do don't go here! The views are great but the wine is watered down and when we asked for a new bottle they gave us more watered down wine so not as classy as it seemed

First up I'm going to tell you about the toilets, I visited at the end of our visit sadly ... they were disgusting. Covered in vomit and excrement. But not newly disgusting either which is worse! We reported this to the 'manager' who didn't give a hoot and just shrugged.
So if after that you still want to take your life in your hands read on.
This is not an accessible venue, to access it you climb many stairs painted in pepto bismal pink. The views towards the city were very nice. We ordered some drinks and brunch. The vibe it definitely hip, but sadly at the expense of any expertise.
On delivering the drinks the waitress dropped them spilling water over us. Did she say sorry? Nope. She did come back and mumble a sorry. I was then asked to pay (no bill) before my food arrived, which I did. My meal arrived with scrambled eggs on toast, when I had politely asked for no toast. Between it being taken away and the right meal arriving, the waitress came back to tell me she got the amount wrong and I needed to give her 7p - I asked to see the bill and they had added service!! I questioned this given I had water poured on me and the wrong meal given to me...We were 'Frankly' starting to find this all rather funny now in a Faulty Towers way! Oh OK then they took the service off. When I did get my correct brunch it was actually very well cooked. BUT after seeing the state of the toilets I felt very nauseous and was very concerned I would be ill (so far so good).
So if you must go I suggest you opt for a drink only and one that has come in a sealed bottle. Suffice to say I won't be climbing the pink steps ever again!
