I don't recognise the tour I was on in the effusive comments listed below.
This is a Jack the Ripper tour, not an East End of London ramble, so the focus of the tour should only be Jack the Ripper, yet the tour was padded out with random facts about Harry Potter film locations and other irrelevances such as the going rate for prostitutes in London today. We didn't get to hear much about the victims, their situations, histories or anything much about them except that they were friends and all drank in The Ten Bells. The guide, Paul, didn't even give us their names, just 'Victim Number 5' or 'Victim Number 1', and so on.
He was very shouty and his 'jokes' about women, Americans and him being a serial killer were straight out of the 1970s and not appropriate [I agree with Shannon T's review below]. The tour ended in a rush, with him expounding on his 'theory with a twist', which was basically that the Royal surgeon did it, and that was that. I came away from the tour knowing nothing more about Jack the Ripper and his victims than I knew beforehand.
All in all, a real disappointment. Very little storytelling, no atmosphere building and no rapport built with his audience. He may know his facts, but I think he needs to reconsider the way he delivers them in order to improve his customers' experience.
