Address
Neighborhood: City of London
From its ancient past as a Roman trading outpost to its 21st century status as the wealthiest square mile in the world, the financial district known simply as “The City” is one of London's most historic and fascinating neighborhoods. Here high rise office towers such as Norman Foster’s Gherkin mingle with Roman ruins and architectural marvels from virtually every era in between, including Christopher Wren's glorious St.Paul's Cathedral, and John Soane's dauntingly classicist Bank of England. This neighborhood is also home to some of the finest restaurants and plushest hotels in Europe, in addition to an assortment of watering holes, upscale shops, and Tube stations. During the week, the City is abuzz with white collar workers going about their business; the weekend sees this area turn into a quiet haven for sightseers.

    Best gin tasting experience ever!
What to say? I really recommend this place to all gin’s lovers. So many types of Whitley Neill gin to try and an amazing gin flight experience if you wish to try more than just one gin! A special mention goes to Hugo and Welston… amazing host and insiders! Absolutely recommended!

    Awesome Gin Experience
This place is awesome!! Never had such an in-depth experience in distilling liquor, but this place was a perfect blend of knowledge and fun. Harvey Hugo was a great teacher and we had a blast spending an afternoon with him distilling gin. We got to try our gin after the class and then take the bottle home. They check all boxes with giving you packaging for the plane and making sure you’re set. Highly recommend 10 out of 10!! #EskimoBrothers

10/10 for City Of London Distillery
Had a blast creating my own gin with Harvey Huge at City Of London Distillery…..he was so much fun to work with. He helped us create our own distinct blend and flavor with the botanical ms provided. I wanted fruity and it was perfect!! Highly recommend this place for a fun afternoon with friends and family #ThisDefinitelyIsNotVodka

    Excellent fun!
Did the "Make your own Gin" session last week. Absolutely brilliant. Learned lots about gin whilst enjoying a few cheeky cocktails! The gin-making itself was really fun and the fact that you get to name your gin and bring it home to enjoy. Welston, who ran the session was excellent Would definitely recommend!

Small tour. Great gin. Good fun.
We booked a tour and tasting experience. The tour was fairly short, as all production is kept in a single room. The really good part was the guide’s info and a tasting of a few different gins. This was a party of 9, and we had lots of laughs. The room was a bit noisy, so it was a bit hard for us to hear everything. Luckily our guide noticed, so we got a few extra samples to compensate. I think the theme ended up being “can we taste”! For 25£ per person this is a safe bet. I highly recommend!

    A brilliant experience
We visited as part of my wife’s birthday weekend in London. You get a lovely welcome drink and get to taste 4 different gins, our guide was Welston and he was great. Very knowledgeable and was a great host. We bought a gift set and a bottle of gin. Brilliant 2 hours.

    Tremendous 5-star experience
My wife and I were gifted the Make Your Own Gin experience for Christmas 2022 - it needs to be used within 12 months, so we arranged it for last week. It was tremendous. There were 6 of us doing it (I think the gin lab can probably take up to 8) under the supervision of Harvey Hugo, who was knowledgeable, interesting, engaging and funny. There was plenty of guidance to help us understand the characteristics of the botanicals we could choose from, so my wife and I ended with gins very different in character. Part of the process is recording exactly what goes into your gin, so if you want to replicate it exactly, you can. We enjoyed 3 excellent Whitley Neill G&Ts during the course of the afternoon, and left with our own gins, bottled, sealed and labelled accordingly. The whole experience was highly enjoyable, I'd recommend it to anyone with an interest in or liking for spirits.

One of our top experiences in London
We stayed nearby and popped in to check it out. It was a highlight of our trip to London thanks to Daniel and Hugo! The gin flight was amazing and we were treated to some interesting, delicious flavors. Although I have always enjoyed gin, I have a new view on what is possible. I also will never buy cheap grocery store tonic again. The bar itself is nice with a view of the distillery. We even met Jake, the distiller. Most importantly, we returned a few times because of Daniel, a true professional mixologist who made us spectacular drinks of his own design, and Hugo, a great gin technician in his own right, with a fun attitude if you have a sense of humor. I cannot recommend enough spending time with Daniel and/or Hugo at the City of London Distillery. By the way, the gin is really good too!

    Great gin drinks!
Such an amazing selection of dry & flavoured gins distilled at Whitley Neill Gin! Bartender great and environment hopping. Waitstaff a bit overwhelmed by popularity, but once ordered drinks came out fast! We had the gin flight and a couple other drinks besides & were happy with all!

    Great experience
We had a great time at the distillery bar. Harvey Hugo was very friendly and taught us a lot about gin. He also made us a few great cocktails to try. We would love to go back when we have more time and do the gin making class

We have visited the City of London Distillery several times and enjoyed the venue, however, we recently popped in for a couple of drinks since their 'rennovation'. The venue previously had character; it felt like a cosy place to enjoy a couple of drinks in a warm, relaxed atmosphere. We were really disappointed to find that since the rennovtion it has been turned in to a generic 'cocktail bar' with absolutely no character; similar to something you may expect to find in a large chain hotel. We were seated at a table and waited for the menu; in the end I had to flag down a waiter and ask for this, and then some time later had to flag down another waiter to order. Staff were friendly but the organisation was lacking. I thought that the rennovation may redeem itself by improvements to the gents toilets but was surprised to find nothing had been improved in this part of the place which has the poor design of just one sink which is right next to the entrance door - at least this could have been improved. This was previously a lovely venue and a great find but I think the motivation and outcome of this 'rennovation' was very misguided.

I raved about this place but a couple of weeks ago I walked in. Me and my mate sat waiting at the bar for around 20 minutes whilst the waitress took a very long and loud phone call. When I asked her if they were open she put her finger over her lips and shhh'd me.

There were other people doing some sort of a champagne tasting so the place wasn't empty. We waited another five or so minutes and then walked out, half expecting that to solicit some action.

It didn't...

My two sons and I thoroughly enjoyed our gin tasting and tour. The bar is in a great location and is very smart. All the staff were very friendly and welcoming. The star however, was Steve, our host for the tasting and tour. We also enjoyed some very nice gins. We would highly recommend the gin tasting and tour, which is well worth the money. But it is also a great place to simply enjoy a gin or two in very nice surroundings.

Fantastic gin tasting experience with a very informative guide through the whole process.
Included in the price was 4 tastings and a welcome drink.
Overall very good value for money in upmarket surroundings
We stayed on and had a table for an extra drink,at no time did we feel hurried and would recommend this experience if you are a gin fan

What an amazing time we had at the City of London Distillery.
We signed up for the tour and tasting where we got a history of Gin, it's components and distilling process, and a 4 glass tasting on top of the drink we were given when we first arrived.
The information session was very informal and we had a great fun throughout. When we were given a tour of the distillery section where we learned even more and they really took the time to explain things for us and answer all our questions and I am sure spent more then the allotted time with us then they were supposed to. They have so many wonderful flavors and combinations to try it's worth coming back over and over to sample all you can.
These were just such a great group of people we wound up staying after for a couple of hours trying different drinks and chatting everyone up for a bit. We bought a bottle to bring home with us and my only regret is that I didn't buy more!
This really is a fun place to go and we can't wait to be back and hang out with them again.
BTW-When you first arrive check out the mural on the wall for the talented actor who is a member of the gin makers family!

Warmly greeted, first gin (Authentic) came fast, the tour and tasting was really well done by Lewis (apologies if wrong spelling!)), his knowledge was exceptional. A fascinating insight into craft gin and a delicious product. We stayed for food and some cocktails made just for us - fantastic service, 100% recommend and will definitely be going back!

We went because we had been given a gift voucher. Neither of us are really gin drinkers but Georgia the guide was so knowledgeable and had such a nice personality that we ended up really liking the gin and bought a bottle! Georgia gave us a talk about the history of gin and explained the 4 different gins we tasted. We then went into the distillery and were shown the stills and how the gin is produced. It was a thoroughly enjoyable experience and I would recommend it. We also were given a very nice gin and tonic at the beginning which went down very well as it was a very hot day.

Finally managed to attend the Christmas present from 2019, was well worth the wait.
Lexi our guide was great and looked after our group really well. The gin tasting was good and for a small distillery they made it work well. You also get discount in shop if you do tour.
Christopher wren gin was my personal favourite

Tucked away in the heart of London is the Whitley Neill distillery. With the narrow streets you'd be forgiven for thinking they can't possibly make gin on an industrial scale here - you'd be wrong! although small, the pot stills produce the finished gin for every bottle of Whitley Neill gin right in the bar. You learn about the history of the company, taste some lovely gins and then tour the distillery. Its a good value afternoon activity and you can stay for cocktails and snacks afterwards. If you are feeling flush then you can splash out on a personal gin making experience too. If you just want a drink then the bar is smart and stylish and welcoming for that too!
