The area
Address
Neighborhood: Westminster
If you only had an afternoon to experience London on a grand scale, Westminster would be a wise place to start. The ornate Houses of Parliament and Westminster Abbey sit adjacent at a corner of Parliament Square, and a short stroll along The Mall leads to Buckingham Palace. Trafalgar Square and Nelson's Column are just up the road as well. As captivating as the architecture is, the wonders of Mother Nature are highlights of the area too. St James's Park (arguably London's loveliest), the expansive Green Park, and pedestrian friendly tree lined paths along the river showcase the exquisite manicure provided by English gardeners. Just beyond the landmarks and the gorgeous outdoor spaces, quiet residential squares and age old local pubs offer a more subdued take on this global seat of power in the heart of London.

Recently revamped and new name "The Other Palace Theatre". The rake in this theatre means a good view everywhere

We went to see "Big Fish" and didn't have high expectations but really enjoyed it. Needless to say never enough ladies loos especially when the two theatres had their intervals overlapping. A good sized bar.

Seeing Starlight Express Workshop with Mr Wonderful
Dec 2016
What a fantastic evening listening to the live music of Starlight Express through a workshop hosted by Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber and Arlene Phillips. The evening was spectacular only seen the show once but my partner Robert has seen it loads and is obsessed with the musical! Just hope they bring it back to the West End for a new generation of people to enjoy the music and marvel at the talented actors and actresses skating. Please bring it back!

Fabulous Theater and Dinner
Sep 2016 • Couples
Visited September 2016. We ate dinner at the restaurant and saw the Pianist of Willesden Lane. There is no bad seat in the theater and the acoustics are perfect. The seats are a tad uncomfortable though. A marvelous time we had though.

The Other Palace novadays. Fun, modern and newly refurbished theatre with some great productions.

We loved the Wild Party we went to see - such a cute little theatre, beautifully done, with great facilities, lovely restaurant serving pre- and post- performance meals and snacks. Right next to a few pubs if you fancy a cheaper alternative top your drinks and food.
Personal opinion - London theaters look lovely been just that - rustic, old, dusty and cozy, when this one if not... Surrealistic marble staircases, mirrors, still and glass everywhere.... But you forget about it once you are in the auditorium. Stage is circular and you feel right in the center of the action even when sitting on the side of it. No curtains at all. Security on the doors. Efficient ticket desk. Nice on-line booking facility.

The Other Palace. Let down by bar area.
Apr 2017 • Family
Firstly the good points, you can still get reasonably priced tickets and can see well from almost anywhere. This season since the rebrand The Wild Party was worth seeeing for the enthusiastic cast, Whisper House was in my opinion too predictable and marred by the sound quality.
The bar has always had issues and that hasn't improved, it was quiet when I visited but dirty plates and glasses were on our table when we arrived and stayed there, the bar was sticky and although there were several staff with nothing to do nobody cleaned up.
The new programs are not good value, one very short article, a cast list and lots of adds, look at the same price programs from the Old Vic and National to see what they offer for the same price.
The new name leads to confusion as there is a Palace theatre in London and a theatre called The Other Place. I hope it does well as I enjoy coming here but I would enjoy it more if the bar was a cleaner, friendlier place to meet up.

Whisper House
Apr 2017 • Couples
This was our first show at The Other Palace. The theatre was intimate and comfortable. I felt the seats were comfortable but my husband didn't have enough leg room. The staff was young and professional, but a bit stiff. It was a short walk from Victoria Station. We saw Whisper House. The cast was very good but the play itself had an anticlimatic ending. Not our favorite but a good Saturday night out. At 20 pounds, well worth it.

This joint is jumping
Apr 2017 • Friends
Went to see this Joint is Jumping at the other Palace theatre (previously known as the St James Theatre) staring Miss Lillias White.

What a treat, the staff at this theatre are so friendly and the studio is a wonderful intimate space and to watch an evening of Jazz was the perfect venue.

The cast and of course the leading lady Miss White were all excellent.

Small but perfectly formed theatre
Mar 2017 • Solo
Went to see The Wild Party. First visit to this theatre. Seems quite trendy - nice bar area (although very expensive drinks) and the theatre is well laid out. Good visibility from all seats, steeply raked so no "back of head in front" problems.

I was fortunate to have had a seat at the end of a row so my legroom was more than adequate - may have been slightly squashed further in the rows.

The Wild Party was a cracking show, lots of energy from the performers and the stage appears tiny at first sight but they used every inch of it. Recommend this production. A little bit risque so not for kids!
