Neighborhood: City of London
From its ancient past as a Roman trading outpost to its 21st century status as the wealthiest square mile in the world, the financial district known simply as “The City” is one of London's most historic and fascinating neighborhoods. Here high rise office towers such as Norman Foster’s Gherkin mingle with Roman ruins and architectural marvels from virtually every era in between, including Christopher Wren's glorious St.Paul's Cathedral, and John Soane's dauntingly classicist Bank of England. This neighborhood is also home to some of the finest restaurants and plushest hotels in Europe, in addition to an assortment of watering holes, upscale shops, and Tube stations. During the week, the City is abuzz with white collar workers going about their business; the weekend sees this area turn into a quiet haven for sightseers.

the 4 of us went for dinner on a satuday evening . Two had fish and chips, one had burger and chips and I had the Caesar salad . The burger was ok, the fish was ok. The chips could have done with a bit more cooking. The caesar salad which is usally a favorite dish of mine was very dissapointing. It was so dry that i couldnt finish it. There was no dressing just lettece and croutons coverd with grated cheese.
Maybe I should have said something at the time but the football was on and everyone looked busy . Plus we had to be somewhere , so didnt really have much time . Our bill was just under £100 per couple, including drinks of wine and beer.

Offerings of traditional English tavern fare, I found the menu to be an exciting departure from my typical American pub experience and was eager to dig in. I thought my meat pie was very good and not overwhelmingly heavy. My husband ordered the rabbit pie and he said it was "good but rich." The Punch is a great place to sit and enjoy a pie, drink, and people.

My team booked our Christmas party months ago and asked for a space in the private room at the back for 6.30. Upon arrival we were told we won’t be getting that room and they’d arrange a table in the main area which was so busy you couldn’t hear a thing or move. After some back and forth we asked the other party who was sat in the room instead of us if we could squeeze and share the space and luckily they agreed. Instead of 6.30 we ate at 8.30. Food was bland and tasteless. They gave us some cheap Prosecco to say sorry for the issue but frankly I wouldn’t have returned there anyway. There’s better food options in Fleet Street so avoid this place.

If you can make it here for the Sunday roast, it’s delicious! Great pub atmosphere and reasonable prices.

We stumbled across The Punch Tavern on a cold November evening and were glad of the warm welcome. They have a good selection of beers and, apparently, their white is good as well. They seem to specialise in Gins and cocktails as well but that will have to wait for another day.
A lovely trip down memory lane in a good old fashioned London pub. Friendly and welcoming, we will be returning next time we visit London.

“Discovered” Punch Tavern on our last trip to London and were eager to return because the setting and the staff were so helpful and fun. Gathered this time with some friends for Sunday roast. What an absolute feast! I had the chicken and my husband had The Trio- a truly massive and delicious meal. He chatted with our server who explained the care and pride the chef takes in the meal. It clearly showed. St. Paul’s just down the street. Dr. Johnson’s house down a nearby alley. Great neighborhood to explore - and great place to revitalize yourselves at Punch Tavern.

Went for Sunday Lunch, the beef was too tough to eat and full of fat and gristle. It was not a good meal at all. I won’t be returning.
