Excellent street food and drink options. Good to see more visible covid precautions since my last review. Staff at each end of the Market,

Hidden gem
Oct 2020
Heard about the market online and decided to try it out. Wonderful wee hidden gem. Interesting choice of foods. Had an amazing duck wrap and chips from duck frites. Seriously tasty. Can’t wait to go back and try more

Lively even at a time of rising Covid

I’ve long seen Maltby Street on the map as another trendy Bermondsey destination noting it’s home to a bakery beneath the arches as an outpost of the St. John culinary empire. But Maltby Street Market is somewhat distinct from the street following beneath a metal entrance arch the line of railway arches at the point the street deviates in a slightly different direction. It’s a Mecca of small cafes, bars and take-away outlets of all description and even in this rather cold mid Sunday afternoon in a rising tide of Covid seemed to be doing a roaring trade with most seats at the outdoor tables full. Of all the stalls it was the one selling fresh fish which tempted me the most.

Not sure now ...

Love this Market but have concerns about safety in the current climate. Not the fault of the businesses who deserve to survive and thrive, but there are too many customers who don't understand social distancing and don't think of others as they chat in groups and make it impossible for others to pass by safely. Perhaps it needs to be one way .. I hope a safe solution can be found.?

Small but International Food Street

Interesting mini food gallery from U.K., Europe, South America, Vietnam, Taiwan etc, all in one street. A good morning walk from Tower Hill/ Bridge and St Katherine’s Dock area. Chilled.

Great little food hole!

A bit tucked away and kind of a wind tunnel (maybe on the day we were there), but so much delicious. Great multicultural vibe to match the food. Highly recommend a visit. Will visit again next time to try the rest of the food stalls.

Tucked away but a good street food selection
Jan 2020
Located in a narrow back street that is little more than an alleyway tucked away behind the railway arches, this is perhaps an unusual location for a renowned food market, but I had read about it on several occasions and was keen to stop off whilst we were completing the Bermondsey Beer Mile.

Most of the stalls are providing food to eat “on the go” rather than ingredients to take away and cook with. We certainly weren’t after a full on meal, so just opted for some Scotch eggs. Not cheap at £3 each, but they were a generous size and the chorizo one certainly had a spicy kick. That said, the sausage meat was a lot courser than I would have liked. Overall, I’m glad I popped in here as I was passing, but can’t help feeling I might have been a little disappointed if I had made a special journey.

Short but sweet

Came down here after searching for a hidden gem for street food, wasn't disappointed. It is small HOWEVER the food choices well made up for that; grilled cheese sandwiches, oysters, po boys, waffles, curry, falafel.... the list goes on. Well cooked and very appetising food. There are a couple of bars/cafes too. I found it highly enjoyable on a drizzly January Sunday! There is also a very delightful shop selling ornaments, baskets, chairs, tiling etc most of which is recycled and/or reclaimed or made from natural materials. Picked up a couple of wonderful bits in there. Definitely worth a visit but it is probably a fifth the size of borough so don't go thinking it's huge!

Great market.

Best market for atmosphere and food. It may not be the biggest market in London, but the food and atmosphere certainly makes up for it !
So many different food types to try. Lovely places to sit and drink coffee or a nice Gin.
