    Maltby Street Market London
The Maltby Street Market has a great vibe, a fantastic selection of food. Make sure you arrive hungry! A few highlights for me: Venezuelan La Pepia and Amen Ethiopian (they put love and passion into their food). I also have tried Beef Steaks, their chimichurri sauce is fantastic; unfortunately, their sliced beef is far too chewy, I could not eat it. I would have preferred less of a portion and better quality meat. They source their meat from grass fed British cows, which is fantastic...sad that the meat was so very tough. Their tripled cooked chips were very good.

Lovely Market under the railway arches
We visited Maltby Street Market while we were in the area. The market is set up along Ropewalk under the arches of the main railway line on the approaches into London Bridge. There was a huge variety of food stalls, restaurants and bars. There is a great vibe to the place with delicious aromas from the stalls hanging in the air. We stopped off at one of the outlets for empanadas, it was one of the many stalls with freshly prepared and reasonably priced treats. It was very quiet when we visited but it was nice to be able to enjoy the market without the crowds.

A gorgeous food and atmosphere haven!
We were staying just around the corner and hoped to squeeze Borough Market in but as we were short on time came here instead. Partly tempted by the photos of the steak and chips from The Beefsteaks’ Insta. It didn’t disappoint. I had my young children with me and it was perfect for us to wander, nibble and soak in the atmosphere. Took our food into the wine bar that welcomes you to eat any of your yummy buys in there over a glass (or two!) of their beautiful wine. Really nice people everywhere we went and delicious food. Look forward to visiting again…and may now leave Borough to the hoards! We stayed at the Premier Inn Tower Bridge which is just a three minute walk from here. Go, eat and enjoy!

Worth a visit if in the area
This market is about 10 minutes walk from Tower Bridge (on the South side of the river), it is busier on weekends with food places. It is basically one street and you can walk around to get to the other side. I used to visit from time to time, however a few of the antique places have moved on or closed down. They were interesting places to explore. This is a disappointment, as now it is more about food. It is less interesting for me. One weekends it is busier, but on weekdays it can be quieter. This is hidden part of London, slightly off the beaten track.

    Great off-track food venue.
It's an interesting market a little off the beaten trac, offering something different to the vastness that is Borough Market. We found a couple of nice pubs nearby, some interesting shops, and we had some amazing lunch from one of the stalls for under £10. So, we love it there. You do have to walk through a bit of a dodgy looking area to get there though. Don't be wearing a Rolex or waving around an iPhone 15 !

    Fantastic one street market
Our first visit on a cold December morning. Although small, the sheer variety of outdoor food stalls/indoor restaurants makes this a great alternative market to the more crowded and perhaps overwhelming Borough Market. Good setup with outdoor tables and counters to sit at. We chose The Greek Pot which had delicious food at reasonable prices and generous portions—outstanding moussaka!

Located in a narrow back street that is little more than an alleyway tucked away behind the railway arches, this is perhaps an unusual location for a renowned food market, but I had read about it on several occasions and was keen to stop off whilst we were completing the Bermondsey Beer Mile.

Most of the stalls are providing food to eat “on the go” rather than ingredients to take away and cook with. We certainly weren’t after a full on meal, so just opted for some Scotch eggs. Not cheap at £3 each, but they were a generous size and the chorizo one certainly had a spicy kick. That said, the sausage meat was a lot courser than I would have liked. Overall, I’m glad I popped in here as I was passing, but can’t help feeling I might have been a little disappointed if I had made a special journey.

Love this Market but have concerns about safety in the current climate. Not the fault of the businesses who deserve to survive and thrive, but there are too many customers who don't understand social distancing and don't think of others as they chat in groups and make it impossible for others to pass by safely. Perhaps it needs to be one way .. I hope a safe solution can be found.?

I gave three stars because my expectations were underwhelmed. I read somewhere that in addition to food vendors, there were also antique vendors as well; there were none.

The market was crowded with a wide selection of ethnic foods. So, the market seemed good, but again, my expectations were not met.

This small foodie market practically on Southwark/Bermondsey boundary is well worth a visit. Think it’s only there ( or most of it) Sat/Sun and it is rather small - much larger Borough Market 15 min walk away - but a variety of good-looking street food available plus inside areas too.
Good addition to the area though bear in mind this is London with London prices if you’re on some sort of budget.

Just a short walk from Tower Bridge and you’re at this amazing place.

It’s just the right size, it has a nice indie feel about it, it’s friendly and the food and drink on offer are some of the best I’ve ever had.

Heard about the market online and decided to try it out. Wonderful wee hidden gem. Interesting choice of foods. Had an amazing duck wrap and chips from duck frites. Seriously tasty. Can’t wait to go back and try more
