Booked up, thankfully we're first there, but by 1pm,place was full, so booking recommended. Was there on a Sunday, so myself and my wife had two Sunday roasts, the sirloin beef. Food was tasty, vege could have been a bit warmer. Ordered 2 drinks, a wine for the wife and an old fashioned whisky cocktail for myself, almost 10 quid though, so expensive, but was nice. Wife then had a Long Island iced tea, fairly standard, had better, in her words. Onto pudding, and we ordered an apple pie and sticky toffee pudding, then 1 min later was told they were out. They couldn't have sold out, as we were ordering a pudding soon after lunchtime opening. So I had a brownie, which was tasty. Staff were polite, friendly, and kept busy. On receipt of the bill, there was a tip surcharge, not a discretionary one, which I think should be a customer choice.
We used the Nicholson pub App to get a 1st time visitor 25% discount, which can be used on drinks and food. I'd come back to try one of there infamous pies, and seeing it on another table, it did look good. I maybe back one day

Was wondering thru the market and stumbled into their wonderful pub. Service was awesome and friendly. Menu solid and wide selection. Beer wide selection as well of taps. Restroom downstairs and free water for anyone who jumps in.

Avoid as you will be spoken to as if you are a being thorough nuisance especially if you want food. When it eventually arrives it is poorly cooked. Note don't lean on the table, it will be sticky, not clean, the same as the floor.

Visited here yesterday with my dad for a Father’s Day brunch. We got the Nicholson breakfast. 2 for £13! It was the best full English we’ve had in a long time. Staff very friendly and the price for how much you get on your plate was brilliant especially for London. Will definitely visit again next time we’re in London.

Ate here before going to the theatre. Dinning room upstairs is quite lovely and the food was delicious. Had fish and chips and the piece was very large, moist and flaky. Highly recommend. Price is very reasonable.

We were here for a friends birthday and bottles were popping all night!! The host had dancers and took care of everything. We were out till past 3am but it was very cool. It's more of a dive bar so night fancy at all. Small space so it fills up quickly.

My husband and I walked past the restaurant and through a window, saw a plate of fish N chips on the table. It was the largest piece of fish that I'd ever seen! It looked good so we headed in the pub to try it. The waiter, was originally from Australia, was professional and very friendly. We kiddingly told him that we'd order the whale n chips. Big portions and lots of flavor! we also heard this was a hangout for local writers. A great place with good atmosphere.

Ok, I know I'm odd because my favorite all time meal is a roast beef & Yorkshire pudding with pan gravy and all the trimmings. Why is this weird, you ask? Because I'm a Texan! Granted I've been an Anglophile since I was in England while in the Navy and had countless Sunday roasts in Plymouth & Portsmouth. Anyhoo, we happened to be on a 9 day trip to London (primarily) and it happened to be my birthday. My birthday, my rules... our family tradition. Being in the birthplace of a Sunday roast, I wanted the best damn one in town.

Well, we probably didn't get the best, but it was the best I've had in a very, very long time! I believe it was a rib cut, perfectly cooked to a nice medium rare with a crispy (but chewy) Yorkshire pudding, roasted veggies, potatoes roasted in duck fat... and beer! My wife got the roast lamb, buddy Dave had the roast pork, and the other married couple we traveled with had the beef. Tip, only the beef comes with a Yorkshire pudding; it is an additional charge for the other roasts.

Service was pretty terrible because the Man City v. Liverpool match just ended and the staff looked pretty warn out. I don't fault them for this. Beer selection was average, but the ladies loved the wine and sparkling wine selections.

Oh, almost forgot... It was a gorgeous April day so we sat outside. had a blast...

I'll definitely be back the next time I'm in London on a Sunday!
