Spent the day here with a friend . The gardens are lovely to walk around especially with this nice weather. And they have just opened up the main buildings again. All the staff there are volunteers and do a great job , and know their stuff. Would highly recommend a visit

Had a lovely walk around the grounds and everything is very well signposted. It's nice to walk different ways around the grounds. Staff were friendly and there's a great garden trail for children to.do.

Thank you for your review. We are so pleased that you enjoyed the gardens and from 1st August you will be able to visit the house and enjoy the fantastic Art Deco interiors and the medieval Great Hall of course. We have created a one way socially distanced route around the interior to keep everyone safe so we hope to see you again soon.

I knew that the Palace itself was closed and only the gardens would be open. But it was quite a shock to see the state of the place. The gardens looked terrible full of weeds and plants not tended. Apparently they had furloughed the staff until recently including the gardeners.

Dear David, thank you for taking the time to review your visit to the gardens at Eltham Palace. We are sorry to hear that it did not meet your expectations so we welcome your feedback. These are unprecedented times when the vast majority of English Heritage staff has been furloughed and all our sites have been closed for a number of weeks. Since it was decided that we would open the gardens at Eltham Palace to visitors with pre-booked, timed tickets our gardeners have worked tirelessly in preparation and continue to do so. It has been particularly challenging as our team of over thirty volunteer gardeners have also been furloughed. The one way system has been introduced so as to facilitate social distancing and to ensure that all areas of the garden open to the public are seen during the visit. The light refreshments are offered at the start so they may be enjoyed during your walk around the garden but you are welcome to make a purchase afterwards if you wish. There are numerous picnic areas available around the nineteen acres of beautiful grounds for you to enjoy. We’re pleased to hear that you found our site staff so friendly and hope to see you again soon

We took the train from London Bridge to Mottingham and a 15 min walk then to Eltham. Well worth it, even on a cold March day the gardens were lovely to walk round and the views across to the city fabulous. Nice cafe and outside space as well. We were glad we made the trip.

We really enjoyed our visit. The house is like a snap shot in time of the Coutald family. The rooms were beautifully restored and the audio guide was very informative Each each room introduced by a member of the house party staying over the weekend. The staff were extremely
