Neighborhood: Belgravia
Home to the vast majority of embassies and diplomatic residences in London, sophisticated and upscale Belgravia also boasts a wealth of luxury hotels, fine dining restaurants, and some of the city’s most stroll worthy lanes. While the prices here are high, taking a leisurely stroll through the streets of picturesque and elegant white stucco houses is free. Hyde Park and the Buckingham Palace Gardens are only a stone's throw away to the north, and some of Europe’s best shopping is nearby as well.

Wellington vs The Grenadiers!
Nov 2021 • Friends
We visited the Grenadier before heading to Cadogan Hall for a performance.

The service was fantastic, the food exceptional and the beer delicious!

We had the Rillette for starters, with a Scollop each, the sweetest I’ve ever eaten. For mains we all had the famous Wellington, cooked to absolute perfection.

We didn’t book and was extremely lucky, this venue you must book for.

Great atmosphere, amazing food and staff, 5* all day for the Grenadier!

Fantastic Sunday Lunch
Oct 2021 • Friends
Cracking place for a lunch with fantastic food and great service. Popped in for a Sunday roast lunch and very happy - only disappointment was not having enough time to stick around for a longer drink outside!

Lovely cosy traditional pub
Sep 2021 • Couples
Difficult to find using google maps but eventually got there! The home brewed ale is definitely worth a try as is their signature dish of beef Wellington. Cosy relaxed atmosphere in a traditional English pub with history

Classic elegant pub.

I used to go to this pub years ago when I had a friend who lived nearby and I working with a nearby office. I had not been there for thirty years, but it’s still the same as I remember then. I was attending a meeting at a nearby embassy, so wanted to take advantage of being in the area and visit one more time.

Had a light lunch. Delightful. Staff and service were both first rate, and I very much enjoyed the walk down memory lane. It’s a quaint pub in a very upmarket neighbourhood.

Highly recommended. Full of character. Best to make reservations I think given the bars size.

Spoilt by management
Aug 2021 • Family
Small historic pub spoilt by management using excuse of rich residents who don't really want public walking down their mews. Doesn't excuse manager's attitude. Visited many Green King pubs in area and staff much nicer. Very disappointed.

Very enjoyable afternoon
Jul 2021
We arrived early for our lunch booking but no problem. We were met with a very warm reception and shown to our table (by the gents' toilets, but this wasn't a problem).
The waitress was fun and very accomodating as we are a party that tends to talk a lot! My wife and friends had the haddock and chips and I had the beef wellington which certainly did not disappoint! We were introduced to the chef (a Masterchef finalist) and she was absolutely charming! It was clear that the quality of her food meant a lot to her. The currency on the ceiling was explained to us and, I have to say, we had a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon.

Disappointed
Dec 2020 • Couples
We went this Saturday just gone on arrival we were seated next to the gents toilet. We were really looking forward to the visit and especially looking forward to trying the beef wellington. After ordering drinks we decided to ask if there was a different table we could move to. The guy we asked looked extremely busy and advised us no this table was the only option, no apology no explanation. Since we were in London for a special occasion also we were on a tight schedule we decided to stay. Food was nice but felt totally let down by the service. Would we return. No. Couldn't chance being sat next to the toilet again. People walking past constantly, at one point a member of staff walked in to spray air freshener which of course ended up coming out into our seating area just as I was tucking into the beef wellington. Not nice. I feel had we been sat in the main bar our experience would have been totally different. I don't often write bad reviews if my experience is poor I prefer to mention it at the time, on this occasion unfortunately my concerns were not heard. Very disappointing. There were three tables in a small room at the back of the bar by the toilet please if* you are booking a table I would recommend checking where you will be seated as once you are in situ the staff will not be accomadting to move you!

The Grenadier was kind of tough to locate in a back street of a neighborhood. We decided to try Beef Wellington for the first time. I enjoyed it, but my wife didn't. The mushroom toast appetizer we had was excellent, and so was the toffee bread pudding.

Service through Covid times
Sep 2020
Well not been back for a long time (prior to Covid) thought I would visit under new restrictions. Well I will say that the restrictions in place do cover everything, entrance at the door to sanitizer and check in then escorted to your table. Well not like the old days but it’s the new way and good they are ensuring safety for all. I was greeted by a gentleman called Paul, very polite and ensured that Tracing was in place. I then went to bar this bit felt normal , the staff very polite I requested a beer, I was then shown to a table of my choice and relaxed. Tony the manager then ensured that our visit was welcoming and ensured our experience was good. We had the bar snacks...wow the sausage rolls , told made by the chef ... these were the best I have ever had ( now 50yrs) Full of meat and fresh.

Personally through these times my visit to other pubs may have felt more comfortable only because of what we are used to, but Covid with new laws the Grenadier are acting responsibly and still keeping that friendly, homely feel. 5 stars from me

Unwelcoming
Sep 2020
Took some friends here as, although a little out of our way, they'd never been and I knew it to be a great little pub with bags of character.

Unfortunately, when I went to get some drinks, I was met by a curmudgeonly chap fully decked out in a long white coat and face shield visor. It was like I was entering the set of Chernobyl. In as few words as possible, he pointed to an A4 sheet of instructions, the one with the code that requires scanning with your phone or sending a text somewhere. I asked about the text when the scan didn't produce anything on my camera, he had no idea. It worked on one of my friend's phone.

Drinks were fine, barman was okay, one ale on tap, reasonably priced for Belgravia.

There were 2 tables, 6 at one so they'd taken all but one chair from the other table. When my friend lifted the table to move it to the bench seat just outside the entrance so we could all sit down, out came our man to tell him off. So we left the table with the one chair for a single person to arrive and sit at!

Noticed one of the 6, who'd been there a while, try to go in and use the facilities, he was stopped and told to use the gel first? Presumably he will then wash his hands and reapply gel.

Because of COVID and it's detrimental effect on pub owners, I won't go less than 3 circles but it deserved a 2.
