1,260 reviews
Immerse yourself in Victorian London on this one-of-a-kind Jack the Ripper experience featuring RIPPER-VISION.™ Unlike other tours, your guide uses handheld projectors to accompany spine-chilling tales of the murders committed by Jack the Ripper in the 1800s. As you explore the dimly lit back streets of Whitechapel, images of Victorian London are projected onto buildings to guarantee a highly atmospheric experience. Plus, an evening departure time means you’ll experience London at its most mysterious.

A most enjoyable visit - the cocktails were fantastic and the overall decor/ambience of the hotel is very good. The only letdown was some of the other guests - loud twenty-somethings wearing trainers and very casual clothes (not what you expect at a hotel of this calibre). I think the hotel should introduce a dress code.

We have been before. Each of the other times were five star. This was different. When the staff came to our table they were nice. Unfortunately they appeared lost for long periods at a time. I did not feel like getting up and chasing someone down. I had the fish and chips. It looked great but the fish inside the dough was stiff and overcooked. I put that down to it being a Monday night. My wife and our friend shared the Dover Sole. I did not ask but they each left a small piece. Remember they split an order. I think that I expected the level that I experienced before.

Wanted to experience the Lanesborough so stopped by for a drink in the bar. Over priced bottle of wine is fine, that's what I expect....but an American with a small dog reserving 2 bar stools (one for him and one for his dog) is not what I expect. A dog cushion on a bar stool of a 5 star hotel??!! I have 2 dogs at home, I dont wish for anyone elses dog hair or smell on me when I'm out thanks. I assume the guy is a good tipper. I for one will not be stopping here for drinks again.

Dear bigmin1, Thank you for taking time to share your feedback following your recent visit to The Library Bar. I am sorry to see that you did not enjoy your overall experience. The hotel policy is that we allow small to medium sized dogs within The Library Bar, Withdrawing room and guestrooms only and this particular dog in question was a resident at the hotel. The Library Bar team do their upmost to create the best experiences for each and every guest and so are sad to see your review. We do hope to have the opportunity to restore your faith in The Library Bar and welcome you back again soon. Kind regards, Marco Novella Managing Director

This review will cover two aspects. Some might find it awkward, but I am sure many will see it as useful. First part is about place itself. As I have expected, Library bar has not disappointed. Surroundings are immaculate. Same as with Ritz, you feel so grateful and humble to have a chance to share small part of the universe with some of the most remarkable people in history that have stayed there. Hotel is top notch inside and out. Same goes for every facility in it, including staff. Lady from Canary Islands is amazing. When it comes to catering business, it does not get any better. Now the second part of the review that does not only refer to Lanesborough hotel, but to several other I have stayed at of the same or a similar standard as well. Please, do not treat waiters and other staff like they are below you. I understand there are cultural and differences in mentality, but when you are in London, or pretty much anywhere in the world, do show the respect to the hard working people that are doing their best to make your stay memorable. Moving forward. Do not play domestic music of yours from your phone in a hotel lobby. Have some respect towards other guests. Moreover, honor the surroundings and the history of the place. Third, and last for now, do not be dressed as you are going in your local pub, or a beach volleyball tournament. I understand certain people do not work hard for their money, and I understand class and manners are slowly becoming part of the history, but I sincerely hope this review will make someone think and maybe he, or she will have more appreciation towards historic place he is staying at. Lastly, London has been here long before us, and will stay many, many years after.

This bar is a great place to enjoy a quiet drink in a peaceful setting with a friend. The drinks selection is superb and the staff are very friendly and attentive. The nibbles were frequently replenished and very tasty. The staff were all well informed about the drinks menu and were great in helping us select drinks. The pianist was a great addition to the ambience and was lovely to listen to. A very nice bar to have a peaceful drink in the evening but beware it isn't very large and there aren't lots of seats available.
