- rjp68Penzance, United Kingdom29 contributionsGreat food, great fun!We spent the afternoon here as part of a team celebration. Having never done anything like this before I wasn’t sure what to expect. That said, the overall experience was excellent - from the initial explanation of what we were going to prepare, the support provided by the team as the dishes were being prepared and of course the excellent wine that helped things along! Stefano, Tom and the rest of the team were incredible, making sure everyone enjoyed themselves and providing the help and knowledge when required. I surprised myself about how simple it was to prepare fresh pasta, I will certainly be doing more of this at home. I would certainly do this again, to hone my culinary skills in other areas.Visited December 2022Traveled on businessWritten December 5, 2022
- Alan MaxwellGreystones, Ireland34 contributionsFantastic team bonding activity under the watchful of eyes of teachers who clearly care about teachingHad the pleasure of doing a cookery course at Food at 52 on December 13th as a team bonding activity. Jean Marc and Tom were great hosts/teachers, ably assisted by other members of their team in the kitchen, and i learned a lot about authentic Indian cuisine. I threw some 11th hour problems into the mix, because of my food allergies, but the guys amended things on the fly which was a real treat as i often miss out because of them - thank you so much for your flexibility and understanding...Visited December 2022Written December 16, 2022
- Biba B1 contributionFantastic experience, Perfect in every way…Rather than sit and eat a meal in a busy, noisy restaurant, we decided to try out this cooking experience as our end of year team christmas celebration… and it far exceeded our expectations in every way. We are a close team anyway but I haven’t seen us laugh and play so much together for a while, it was fabulous, The setting was just super relaxed and informal whilst being well held and structured at the same time. We loved the “at home” feeling like being in someone’s house, starting off in the lounge and then into the kitchen with its wonderful long banquet and prep table. All of the team were super knowledgeable, with wonderful warm and humorous personalities and just held our group so brilliantly. And they set us up for success as the food that we produced was absolutely delicious. It was a super hit with us all and we thoroughly recommend it. Thank you to all of you at Food at 52, you are amazing at what you do.Visited December 2022Written December 20, 2022
- I LYverdon-les-Bains, Switzerland320 contributionsBest cooking experience everYou do not simply learn to cut vegetables and to cook. You learn to love it! Thank to a wonderful team of coaches and chefs, you discover subtleties about spices, combinations of textures and tastes. Fun, loughs and great food. If you are a wine connoisseur, do all for a premium and have great wines, so that they match with the food.Visited December 2022Traveled on businessWritten December 20, 2022

We cooked, drank wine and listened to music throughout the class with bunch of fun people. At the end we ate our fruit of labor together in a romantic candle lit setting. I recommend this class highly!Visited December 2022Written December 28, 2022
- Eva Mian1 contributionAmazing team building experienceWe had a wonderful time, the food was great, the staff was very friendly, professional and helpful. A lot of thought went into organizing the night, the timing for executing the dishes, getting the right balance between keeping things fun and giving useful cooking tips. Well done to you all!Visited January 2023Written January 31, 2023

We came on the recommendation of a friend who did a Thai cooking class here. We chose the Italian cooking class which was fantastic and booked to go as a group of 4 but there were also people who came alone and it was very social and you ended up chatting with and interacting with others. The food was delicious, the wine was free flowing and Emily and Jean Marc were very knowledgable and great instructors. We really enjoyed ourselves and have already recommended the experience to friends and family. It is quite expensive but you feel like you get your monies worth

Great ambiance, John and his team put us at ease, and immediately we were filleting fish, preparing three dishes, eating and drinking as we went along and getting to know others on the course. Learned a lot and had a really enjoyable day. Hope to return. Recommend for singles, couples or a bunch of friends and any age, probably over 20 yrs best.

Great Christmas present from my wife! A win win (for her and me). 19 of us, me and about 4 other solo, rest in couples. The wine was flowing which helped break the ice quickly. We had a great demonstration of cookery skills, hands-on cooking (all participating) and then the best bit: eating the result! A three course Italian meal. Useful skills learned, from how to chop onions efficiently to making the best biscotti. All the ingredients of a very enjoyable night.

We came for the Moroccan Cooking class and it was amazing! The atmosphere feels like you're learning to cook in someone's personal kitchen. The food that we cooked was right on theme for the class and the teachers not only had great knowledge of each dish and their origin but also some more basic tips and tricks too.
We wore masks walking around the location and had temperature checks. Each group was spread out so COVID safe.
It was such a smooth operation so that we could focus on doing the cooking. Will 100% be going again - thank you!

Knife Skills - I thought this class was about learning to chop, but its so much more. My Sunday was taken up with a number of other fellow trainees getting to grips with how to cut Chicken, fruit and Veg. Jean Marc relaxed kitchen table manner and wit allows you to forget about cutting your fingers and produce a tasty Chinese stir fry that makes you want to rush home and recreate :)
Absolutely splendid!

Outstanding, I had an incredibly fun time. I received high quality feedback on my technique, with the knife, preparation and cooking to name a few.
I have cooked dishes with simple ingredients with results that were restaurant quality. I have been inspired and enabled to cook food at a higher level.
All the staff were incredibly friendly and highly knowledgeable and the kitchen environment was excellent, the 3 and a half hours flew by.
I will definitely go again, although the course is called kitchen basics. There is definitely stuff to learn for even those with experience (I am a confident home cook but not a professional)

I took part in Food at 52's first online cookery class. It worked brilliantly! the class was Italian. We cooked tagliatelle, pesto and biscotti. All were cooked from scratch, including making the pasta from 00 flour and egg. So fantastic to see the finished pasta emerge as if by magic by means of a clever knife trick! Ingedients were delivered beforehand, along with a Food at 52 apron. We then Zoom-dined all together - everything tasted delicious. Afterwards we were sent recipes, and I've since made them again, and again with great results. Excellent experience, highly recommended. It has certainly added to my repertoire.

This was my second experience at Food at 52. I loved it so much the first time that I returned with my husband today and will for sure be back again! The selection of courses is wide ranging and suitable for all levels. The team strike the perfect balance in terms of teaching whilst creating a very relaxing atmosphere so that you enjoy every moment of the experience but come away having learnt a lot. It is also good value, given the copious quantities of incredible food and delicious wine you enjoy whilst there with a high level of teaching. I would highly recommend this to anyone

The idea of cooking top level cuisine and having fun with a group of people was a new experience for us. Jean-Marc was our chef for the evening and his even-temper was a far cry from chefs we see on television. Helpful, good-humoured and patient (even with me!) made for a fascinating evening. Our group of 8 were all experts at the end of the evening, the food we all cooked was superb and there were no complaints to the chef. Nothing was overwhelming, the wine flowed as freely as you wanted and the helpful staff cleared away with smiling efficiency as we prepared our dishes. It was a lovely night, we all had fun and felt bonded and proud of our achievements.

I attended this course [Fish & Seafood] as a guest with my friend, it was truly an exceptional experiance. The instructors, Tom & Jean Marc, were both informative and entertaining showing us how to fillet a sea bream and mackeral, preparing a squid and prawns, then teaching us how to cook it all and finally plating it up and eating it. I would recommend this course to anyone. The only downside was, when you finish I would suggest you go home, we didn't, we went for a drink and the smell of fish on us followed us everywhere.
