The Unicorn Theatre is known for creating theatre especially for children; unfortunately their blurbs and marketing material can be totally misleading. What seemed to be a show about dance and movement performed by 13 Belgium girls aged 13 turned out to be a disturbing performance about pedophilia, abortion, condoms, and pregnancy. The Unicorn failed to say that this show was... More

Absolutely loved this show. The lady who meeted and greeted us was fab. We arrived early and she was very informative and polite. I keep meaning to pop back for the Up club with my son. I felt it was very well organised and was pleased as punch when we were seated first! My son loved the show so much... More

Saw the opening performance of Septimus Bean and his Amazing Machine today. A truely amazing production. My kids (aged 4 and 8) rated it "the best thing ever" and want to go again. But then so do I. Hilarious and engaging - a childrens theatre event not to be missed. And the ending - wow!! Runs until 26 June.

Visited here for the production with my child and a school friend aged 10 -11. On arrival, the staff are all very friendly and helpful. The place was easily accessible, a lift and easy seating if needed. We really enjoyed the visit, the production that we saw was excellent, very vibrant and engaging, it was the right length for younger... More

Great theatre. Their productions seem to go down just right with children and adults. Clever, thoughtful and engaging. A really nice venue. Excellent value and easy to get to.

It would be meaningless to review one show from this company, they come and go. But their ethos and creative decisions mean there will almost always be something worth seeing. They target different age brackets with different shows. I've seen one for 8+ & one 12+. Both were excellently staged and acted as well as challenging their audiences. This company... More

Went today to see The Minotaur.it had 4 cast members and almost no props, but was still magical- so moving I did shed a tear.it also got loads of kids actually involved in the production at one point It is reasonably priced £12 for under 18s, and has shows at times that still allow kids to go without having to immediately... Just attended the Minotaur with my son in year 3 followed by the myths and legends workshop. Highly recommend it for all adepts of Greek myths and percy jackson fans. This is a great play to talk about what good and bad is and how decisions stop being so black and white. Superb.

I've only been here once but will return for the right play. This theatre produces theatre for all ages, which is important. Every now and again, an adult production is performed. Lots of space in the seating area. Great cafe inside to relax whilst waiting.

Wet Saturday morning in London with children? Get down here. Everything's free, our six-year-old left asking to come back the moment we're next in London having had a cracking time with other children improvising everything theatre, with hugely enthusiastic staff. As a parent, if your children are happy, so are you. Thoroughly recommended.

Staying in Southwark

Neighborhood Profile
Southwark
Even before the arrival of the instantly iconic Shard, the riverside scene in Southwark had moved well beyond any up-and-coming phase of development. For quite some time, locals and out-of-towners alike have loved browsing the boutiques of Bermondsey High Street, foraging through the bounteous stalls at centuries old foodie haven Borough Market, and flocking to the banks of the Thames to enjoy some of Britain's biggest attractions such as Tate Modern and Shakespeare's Globe. Despite Southwark's many popular draws, instant calm can be achieved easily by turning down almost any side street. For more urban buzz, a quick stroll across famed bridges like the pedestrianized Millennium Bridge or the ever photogenic Tower Bridge yields access to the very core of Central London. And with London Bridge Station as this neighborhood's main transportation hub, getting across town (or to anywhere in England for that matter) is a relative breeze.
