The go-to district for a good time in London, Soho hosts a wealth of world-class theatres and a compelling lineup of cafes, restaurants, pubs, bars, and clubs. At Soho's core is London's original Red Light District and the epicenter of the LGBT scene – and thus the city's hottest nightlife. For shopping enthusiasts, Soho is not only the home of London's greatest concentration of boutique shops, but also the most strategic place to set off on a tour of the world's most celebrated department stores. In the southern part of the neighborhood lies Chinatown, with its multitude of delicious and affordable restaurants. Not enough superlatives to describe this performance
Amazing, brilliant, spellbinding and totally enjoyable from start to finish. The cast were fantastic and the performance from Valjean, Josh Pitterman, was outstanding and not a single note was out of tune. Javert was a close second and his death scene was extraordinary. The rest of the cast were excellent too and the scenery was really innovative. The audience was mesmerised by the whole performance and the cast deserved the total standing ovation they received. I cried, I laughed and I held my breath in parts and wanted to watch it from the beginning as soon as it ended, I will be going back again for seconds as it was so good.

    Slightly disappointed unfortunately.
Having first seen Les Mis twice before, the first one was at the Palace Theatre, massive production and stage that did it credit, the second and this one at the Sondheim. It was obvious from the previous ones the cast has been cut. They are still the best on the theatre stage but without the revolving stage and bigger sets it lacks drama. The finale without all the flags and cast members that were in the previous productions, spoilt it for me. Also the lady playing Cosette had a very reedy scow white voice and her dialogue was hard to understand. Still worth seeing though but bring back the drama of the earlier shows. The orchestra is amazing .

    Perfect evening!
Amazing performance. Perfect performance from start to finish - very moving. Acting, singing & orchestra were exceptional. I have seen a performance when on your a number of years ago but this performance exceeded expectations. I wish we could return again every night!! Theatre was smaller than I expected but amazing service & very comfortable. We pre ordered drink’s & merchandise both before the performance as well as the interval to save time queuing - this was the right thing to do as queues were large but service did appear to be quick. Greeted warmly by all staff who were available to answer questions as required

6 stars. 7 stars. This show could not possible be any better.
This was my sixth time seeing the show and this current one is the absolute best production yet. There is not one single thing I can pick out that was not perfect. The theatre is lovely and the crowd was very good - no popcorn munching, beer chugging, phone tapping disrespect - a lovely audience that arrived clearly with an appreciation of the production. The bar and souvenirs are great, the loos enough so no massive queue. We sat in dress circle front row which is easily the best seat in the house. I normally prefer stalls but for a show on this scale, dress circle row A mid is best. Many performers have a "stare at the sky" setup for the big songs, so they literally sing to you, most poignantly in "Stars" and "On my own" - it's chilling. The performance itself was by far the best one yet. All singers pulled a commanding, emotional show, people started choking up by the time the Bishop arrived and at the end of Act 2 there wasn't a dry eye in my vicinity. The children both delivered a fantastic performance. Valjean was great, but Javert was exceptional. The Thenardiers were one of the most entertaining cast yet, Madame Thenardier really puts a funny spin on the role without being too in your face. Lucie Jones as Fantine is right up there with Ruthie Henshall. Nathania Ong as Eponine was incredible, another worthy successor to famous Eponines like Lea Salonga. Very pleased to see that with all the modern productions in the WestEnd, this one kept its originality and they have not amended lines. Especially loved how the actors have moved and (seemingly) improvised confidently, for instance the hug between Valjean and the Bishop at the end. Loved the visual side too. The sewers were mesmerisingly done, and the balcony setup for Marius/Cosette was a very nicely designed set. All in all, the set design was marvellous. In terms of lyrics, the only thing they removed was the second verse of Castle on the Cloud, and I have seen this removed before, probably because of a reasonably inexperienced child actor, it was no big deal. Despite some comments claiming below, the closing line "to love another person is to see the face of God" is NOT removed, it is, thankfully, sung in all its tearjerking glory. All in all, an absolute perfect production, worth every single penny and I cannot wait to go back. Bring tissues.

    Amazing production
I purchased tickets for my partner’s birthday as we regularly go the theatre. This was not a show, I personally would have chosen but was on partner’s bucket list! What can I say, firstly the staging and production was amazing, so much attention to detail that really captures each scene perfectly! The play is completely sung throughout, which was so powerful and convincing in conveying the story. Even with no actual dialogue, the story was uncomplicated, easy to follow and captivating. The voices, well they were out of this world. Every single song was beautifully sung with such emotion and power. So to summarise, this is definitely worth seeing, it is like nothing I have experienced before!

    Outstanding production highly recommended
We sat 6 rows from the front in the stalls. The theatre is beautiful and had a cozy feel to it as we felt so close and immersed in the scenes. The performers were incredible! Not just the main cast but others who sang showed that many of the cast had amazing voices. The scenery was fitting and with slick changes , moody lighting and smoke you felt so convinced with the setting. I cried several times as you could really feel the emotion the cast conveyed. First time we’ve seen the theatre production but seen the dvd which we loved. To be there in person was an added sparkle and we’d highly recommend going to see it. Absolutely amazing, thank you to all involved in this production.

    Brilliant! Don’t forget your tissues!
Brilliant! The production value, soundtrack, songs and storyline are just amazing. The current company, whilst not as great as previous ones, are still extremely talented. Do take some tissues along as it is extremely emotional!

    The best musical
Every time I come to London I see Les Mis. This time we had seats at the front of the dress circle. They were amazing seats! No obstruction to our view, and a better view of the set. The sound was amazing! Two people tried to sneak into vacant seats next to us, but they were moved on.

    BOOK THIS SHOW!
Arranged this trip for my wife who LOVES musicals and it did not disappoint. There were some negatives around the venue (cramped and the heat) but this is easily overlooked as soon as the show starts. It is exciting and I couldn’t look away the entire time. The set was amazing and the entire cast performed unbelievably. The guy playing Jean Valjean - I can not say enough good things. There is a reason he is the leading man. If you take a trip to London and do not book this show you’re missing out.

    Three times a charm
I watched Les Miserables a few years ago and didn't enjoy it. I felt like the story was too quick to follow. I went for a second time, after seeing the movie as I fully grasped the brilliant story and loved all of the songs throughout but still it wasn't a five star review from me. I watched Les Mis for a third time in May, and wow, it was exceptional. A round of applause to all of the cast as every single character was performed beautifully. Particularly Fantine, played by Ava Brennan.

So my first theatre visit couldn’t have gone better. What a venue, easy to navigate, easy to get to and a lovely place. Drinks were not as expensive as I thought and a small enough place to ensure you can get what you want, when you want it. The show itself was beyond expectation, from the cast to the lighting and stage I can only give it 10/10. Great experience and will definitely be going to see more

Have wanted see Les Miserables for years and grabbed the opportunity with both hands and wasn't disappointed!

The newly refurbished Sondheim Theatre looks amazing and the staff were helpful and friendly.

More (or bigger) WC facilities would be my only suggestion for improvement as there are very few gents cubicles and there were endless queues for the ladies restroom too.

Bar prices are reasonable for a London theatre and queue management was good.

Best moment before the show was the announcement of the temporary replacement for Thenardier being Matt Lucas!

Hats off to the technical team for sorting out the microphone fault part way through the second act so quickly.

The interactive backdrops and new staging took the show to a different level (although there are differing views on this change)

Just returned from a Sunday afternoon performance totally recommend this fantastic show, I’m a massive les Mis fan and this revamped show with new format and staging was absolutely a treat, the West End has taken a kicking because of the pandemic. I felt totally safe masks were worn by nearly all of the audience and I was actually asked to show my Covid pass ( First time ever!) before entry the theatre looked amazing. The cast were simply perfect as always have a great time and enjoy life again get out and take in a show.

Despite sitting in the upper circle the entire musical was easily visible apart from the very front of the stage. And what a musical it was! The singing was incredible particularly Jon Robyns (played Jean Valjean) Shan Ako (played Eponine) Carrie Hope Fletcher (played Fantine) and Bradley Jaden (played Javert). As well as the ensemble who really brought the musical to life as well as coping incredibly with the complex and intricate set changes. The lighting and sound were very well done and were very atmospheric. The storgy is complex enough to be interesting but not so complex it's too hard to understand. The staff were also friendy and the theatre itself is beautiful.

INCREDIBLE!!!
Unbelievable cast, I have seen this show many times and have always enjoyed it but found nothing could beat the original 1985 cast... until now!

Jean Valjean, Javert, Monsieur & Madame Thénardier especially were so talented and made the overall show so enjoyable. We're already looking at booking tickets again next month to ensure we see the same cast, out of this world performance, couldn't recommend enough!

2nd time round for me, albeit seen it years before, and despite having watched the CD numerous times this performance still leaves makes you laugh and blink back tears - the cast do a fantastic job. New theatre very nice, still smells new, it’s a nice small more intimate theatre. As ever toilet, facilities are always a problem at most full events - join the queue as quickly as you can is all you can do 😉

The show was totally amazing. Music on point and singing spectacular. The sets were fun. Theater was beautiful. Only complaint is how uncomfortable the seats are, not only is the leg room very limited but the seatbacks are vertical with no ability to recline. By intermission I was so uncomfortable I had to take a walk until the show resumed. Butt still hurts one day after.

I have seen this show 3 times in the past 3 years and it has been unbelievably good each time. The quality of the music and overall performances is fantastic. I really cant reccomend this show highly enough.
On my last two visits I have bought cheap seats and still found the view perfectly acceptable with only a small corner of the stage being out of view.

It scores a 10 in nearly all departments. John Robyns who plays Jean Valjean is the must-see in this production and is equal to the likes of Colm Wilkinson and Alfred Boe who defined the role for so many years. He is simply superb vocally and his acting chops are first rate, By the time you get to the "prayer song" he will have blown your socks off and then will do so again with this song that elicited cheers and tears that stopped the show the night I saw it.
The cast with one or two minor exceptions are superb but what got me were the nearly symphonic orchestral arrangements that made the orchestra sound huge and lush. Scenery and lighting design were incomparable to any previous "Les Mis" I'ver seen and that includes the original productions and reboots in both London and New York.
This truly is a definite Les Miserables and should be seen by anyone who loves the show and who wants to feel as if they are seeing it again for the first time.

I should start by saying that Les Mis is my most favourite show of all time. I've lost count of the number of times I've seen it in London and on tour, but approaching thirty easily.

I saw the 2022 touring production in Birmingham yesterday. Sad to say, this will probably be the last time I see the show if this is representative of the future direction.

The cast worked hard, the set was impressive in many ways, but overall it just didn't create the emotional wave that one would normally expect from this show. I found myself thinking "so what?" about many of the characters (including Jean Valjean) and that has never happened before.

I think there has been too much focus on re-creating the film experience on the stage, and for me that is a huge mistake. I want the theatre to challenge me to "see" beyond what is in front of me and let my imagination run free. If I want to see a film version then I can play the DVD at home and not spend a lot of money on an uninspiring production.

The most telling thing was that my wife didn't cry at the end. And all four of us had come to the same conclusions about the production. So sad to see what was once a wonderful experience transformed to a shadow of the original.
