About
Although there have been various earlier entertainment buildings on the site the reconstructed Adelphi Theatre, with its art deco interiors, opened to the public in December 1930 with Jessie Matthews starring in Ever Green. The front-of-house areas of the Adelphi Theatre were restored to their original lustre and extravagance in 1993 when Andrew Lloyd Webber became co-owner and opened his musical production of Sunset Boulevard. Other famous productions at the Adelphi Theatre include Gertrude Lawrence in Cole Porter’s Nymph Errant, Ivor Novello’s The Dancing Years, Bless The Bride, Beatrice Lillie as Auntie Mame, Van Johnson in The Music Man, Lionel Bart’s Blitz! and Maggie May, Charlie Girl with Anna Neagle, a revival of Me and My Girl originally starring Robert Lindsay and Emma Thompson and in the Adelphi Theatre’s longest run (over nine years), the new Broadway production of Kander and Ebb’s Chicago. Revivals of Evita and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat have proved enormously popular. More recently, the theatre played host to the worldwide premiere of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s musical Love Never Dies.

I am a massive fan of the theater, and have been to London so many times to see so many different musicals and shows. I enjoyed kinky boots all in all, I liked it and had a good time, there are many talented people on the stage. However, I cannot say that I loved the show...for some reason the story line seemed a tad forced and bit too long to me. All in all I probably would go see it again, but not the best ever I have ever een.

My daughter had seen this show several times and took me to see it as a treat and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

The storyline is about a Northampton factory owner, Charlie Price, trying to make a success of his father’s ailing shoe factory. Charlie is reluctantly going to have to give all his workers their cards after their biggest customer cancels his contract with the factory. However, after a chance meeting with Lola, a cabaret performer and drag queen in desperate need of decent stiletto-heeled boots, he sees a niche marketing opportunity and agrees to make the boots.

After a few unsuccessful attempts at getting the boots just how Lola wants them, the final result is bright red glittery boots with six-inch stiletto heels strong enough to carry a man’s weight.

This is an excellent production; all the songs were written by Cyndi Lauper and the cast were brilliant, enthusiastic and energetic. I have no idea how Lola and the angels managed to squeeze into those extravagant costumes or dance in those six inch heels on the catwalk in Milan.

It was a fun production all the way through and the standing ovation at the end was well deserved.

I was expecting a lot from The Bodyguard the musical and it was even better than expected. Alexandra Burke was brilliant, her vocals were amazing, her dancing was awesome and her acting was superb. I have seen a lot of musicals in London and this is definitely my new favourite, hopefully returning again before Alexandra Burke finishes!

Cannot believe in one of the top London theatres you have vermin running around, brushing your feet whilst you are trying to watch a show. Absolutely appalled, nobody wants to dress up to have this type of thing happen to them. Staff were not interested, and for me this spoilt the night. Disgusting and disgraceful.

Was really excited to watch this since it's won so many awards and tons of people speak highly of it. But the plot got quite predictable and the singing/ acting wasn't all that spectacular. Songs weren't particularly memorable but having said that, was so thoroughly impressed by Lola - beautiful interpretation with just the right balance of sass, vulnerability and glam. Definitely the highlight

Michael Ball's performance is outstanding you can hardly recognise him, but Imelda Staunton is fantastic!
This is a great show it's better than the film, but it's a limited run so go and see it if you can get a ticket!

Saw it for the first time. It was ok. Cast were very good. Stage craft and effects great. The storyline was clever and the funny parts smashing.
But I would say - for me - none of the songs were memorable. And sadly, this is a musical after all.
Just not my kind of music.
But others seemed to have liked it.. Now I’m off to steal Christmas :-)

We arrived late by 10 mins . We were quickly taken to the late area and within minutes we were swiftly in the auditorium without disturbing the rest of the audience and we were upgraded to the front row !!

What service ! Wow .

I loved the musical , the story line , the performers were brilliant .

Would I recommend ? Absolutely yes .
Would I go and see again ? Yes definitely especially for me who never watches anything twice !!

Go see it !! .

If you see just one show this year make it Kinky Boots at the adelphi. Ive seen many shows in the west end this has got to be one of the very best ever, if you liked the film you will love the show. Music, dance, the costumes, the set, the humour, tears of joy. it's got it all. Both leads are outstanding, Lauren singing 'history of the wrong guys' is supurb, in fact the whole cast are simply brilliant and a full house standing ovation says I wasn't to only one who thought so.... brilliant! brilliant ! Simply brilliant!!! TIP - buy good seats it will be worth it 😃
