I was attending an exhibition at ExCel and staying just over the other side of the footbridge. Looks great on the map, really convenient which is why I booked it. Except when I went to cross the footbridge I found the lifts were broken both...More
I absolutely loved the dockyard with all the cranes, the residential area looked like a very pleasant place to live and I was very satisfied with this location of the hotel that I stayed at. The bridge is a glorified pedestrian bridge. The lift worked.
I ran a 10k from the hotel and ended up climbing all of the steps to run over the bridge and then down again. I came back later on to get some photos and it has fantastic views of the city. Definitely worth a few...More
The historical Royal Victoria Dock and Bridge is located to London City Airport - of which you get great views from the airport.
Nice to see such a historical trading area being brought into the modern age and still being used.
I saw the bridge while entering Excel London and immediately wanted to climb and try how London seems from there and voila! It was a nice sunset while the planes are flying over after departing from the City Airport behind.
We were staying nearby and going to the O2 so walked along the path by the old docks. It is fascinating to se all the regeneration that has gone on but also still see a few of the old warehouse buildings. A great area now.
I have been to Royal Victoria Docks for work and pleasure. It is a a very modern area now but in my opinion lacks some soul . Community is vital but I struggle to see how this is achieved in numerous apartment complex.

A taxi from Heathrow to the Sunborn will take approximately 1.5 hours depending on traffic and cost around £80. The taxi will pull up about 50 metres away from the Sunborn (across a square) and you will have to walk for that small distance. There are no steps on access and there is a lift. Hope this helps.
