This square was interesting because of its American connections. Read up on the history of the Square, it is interesting. There is a memorial to those English people who perished in the September 11 attacks.

On a bright sunny day, we made our way to enjoy the square. Lots of people were enjoying their lunch or just relaxing in the sun. The square was laid out in 1725-1731 and encompasses about 6 acres. It has always had a special place with Americans. The American Embassy sits just outside the square (although it will be moving... More

Beautiful green space amongst one of the wealthiest neighborhoods. Located in the Mayfair neighborhood between the US and Italian Embassies. A great place to relax and slowdown while the fast paced life of London goes on around you. Beautiful manicured lawns, trees, statues, monuments and immaculate gardens. We spent a lazy hour recharging for our next adventure.

This swank area of London has long been one of the richest and most desired. The US embassy takes up one entire side of the square, it is supposed to move in the future to the southern side of the Thames. John Adams once lived on the corner at #9, when he was an ambassador from America. This house is... More

Another beautiful green space in the heart of London...this one is located in Mayfair, an upscale area of the city. Great place to relax and take a break while seeing the sights.

We had spent a number of hours shopping in the streets of the West End and our legs and feet were in need of rest. We walked from Oxford Street into the exclusive Mayfair area and found the delightful Grosvenor Square. This proved to be the ideal place for us to take a rest. The square is a good size.... More

Grosvenor Square is small but occupies a great location in the heart of Mayfair. It has some interesting statues and is also, during good weather, a common hangout for local business people during lunch. It is easy to see and just off of Oxford Street and Park Lane

I walked around the Mayfair area of London and came upon Grosvenor Square Garden. It is a very nice little park next to the US embassy. There are a few benches to sit on and just watch people or have lunch.

Spent some quality time solo in this beautiful clean square whilst staying in the Marriott opposite. A really nice place to just sit back and watch London go by and read a book or the paper.

Staying in Mayfair

Neighborhood Profile
Set beside some of London's best parks and home to world-class galleries, luxurious hotels, and famed thoroughfares, the ultra upscale Mayfair is one of London's most exclusive haunts. Here the shopping is haute, the dining is exquisite, and the nightlife is vibrant. A casual stroll through the area’s chic streets will reveal that Michelin stars and chauffeured cars are practically the norm here. Even if you're on a tight budget, this exceptionally well connected swath of Central London is worth exploring, if only for the chance to take a peak at the goings on of upper crust English society.
