Neighborhood: Soho
The go-to district for a good time in London, Soho hosts a wealth of world-class theatres and a compelling lineup of cafes, restaurants, pubs, bars, and clubs. At Soho's core is London's original Red Light District and the epicenter of the LGBT scene – and thus the city's hottest nightlife. For shopping enthusiasts, Soho is not only the home of London's greatest concentration of boutique shops, but also the most strategic place to set off on a tour of the world's most celebrated department stores. In the southern part of the neighborhood lies Chinatown, with its multitude of delicious and affordable restaurants. Closer to the Thames, Chinatown's narrow and teeming lantern-lit lanes spill onto the expansive hub of glitzy Leicester Square.

    Fantastic show
Son and partner really wanted to see this when I visited earlier this week. We went to the ticket booth we usually use but they didn’t have any tickets under £100 each so we went direct to the theatre box office. The member of staff there was brilliant, although still over £100 each she found us 3 seats together in two different rows and whilst we were deciding which to take, she held all six and as she did that she told us to hang on because she thought there was going to be a price drop. We picked row f 6, 7 and 8 in the stalls and got them for £99 each. She sent the tickets by email and got us to check we had got them ok. She was brilliant. We returned in the evening for the show, the bar was busy so guessing the loos would be busy in the interval I decided to use the ladies before the show started. There were no queues and they were clean at that time. When we went through to our sheets we were blown away by the set which takes over the theatre, a huge elephant, dancers cages, a bar and T stage which the cast use. There are tables in that area which you can book but I don’t feel you would have the best view, I thought they were too close to the action and you would be looking up all night. Our seats were spot on, really close the the ‘bar’ at the side of the stage, we could look up and see the dancers in the cage too. The show was top class, brilliant cast and orchestra and beautiful costumes. It is a breathtaking show and has gone to the top of my list of shows that I have seen. The two people I was with are professional dancers and singers themselves and they were blown away. Only slightly negative thing was the seats which gave us a bit of a numb bottom. Top tip, get seats in the stalls if you can and take your seat early so you don’t miss the pre show which sets the scene

    Moulin Rouge
Fairly easy access, level from street, then a platform lift. However my wheelchair space was on a raked floor so I sat tilted forward for nearly 3 hours. That is uncomfortable and not acceptable. Some great internal, and temporary, alteration to the theatre interior. Moulin Rouge is a good story and some amazing songs, fully performed or just single line references. Part of the fun is in identifying those references. Great lighting, sets, music, costumes, singing and dancing.

    50th birthday treat
One of my closest friends treated me to see Moulin Rouge last night at The Piccadilly Theatre for my 50th birthday. We both grew up in families who loved the theatre and over the years we have both seen many shows, musicals and ballet productions (Sir Matthew Bourne is a choreography genius). We had seats in row B which were fantastic as we could see the cast really close up. The interweaving of modern classics into the show is clever, and I especially liked Christian singing Crazy by Gnarls Berkley. It’s one of the best show we have both seen in London’s West End in a very long time. Thank you to the staff who looked after us both and a HUGE shout out to the MD & band who actually perform underneath the stage!!! Highly recommended. We are already planning to return to see it again.

Overall the show was FABULOUS! Lovely scenery and eyes were glued at all times. Best believe I’d go again. I sat row S (stalls) and veiw was perfect don’t let it deceive you online. Only thing that wasn’t the best was toilets there’s only one set downstairs huge cue. And also I ordered drinks to my chair that never arrived because they were too busy so I had a refund. So I’d suggest just getting beverages yourself.

    Cold and smelly experience
The show was lovely, but the actual theatre was FREEZING. Coming in from a cold and rainy right, we were met with ice cold air conditioning. We hoped it would warm up as the theatre filled up, but it felt like it was actually blowing down on us. At interval, the theatre emptied out to the bar and toilets. There was a total of 3 toilets in the back stalls for the ladies and the smell was absolutely sickening. Quite disappointing really.

"Moulin Rouge" Piccadilly Theatre Aug 28 2013
I went with a friend on Sat 28 Oct 2023 For many years I have booked through London Box Office who are always helpful and efficient. I have very restricted vision due to a heart related fall almost 2 years ago. When we arrived at the Piccadilly Theatre, the gentleman realised that I had a sight problem. He called a lady. She said that getting to the dress circle through the main doors would be a problem for me because of all the stairs. She walked us down the side of the building into the Angel Bar and said she would come back a little later. When she returned we went through a door at the end of the little room and we were in the dress circle just a few rows from our seats. We really appreciated her care and kindness. The show was wonderful. Singing, dancing, story and set were all breathtaking. Very memorable and highly recommended.

    Fantastic Moulin Rouge
Great performance of Moulin Rouge. My second visit as it is so good. Recommend sitting near the aisle in the stalls near the front to get great views of the fantastic set. Many of the main characters had been substituted the second time. The actors and actresses put so much into the performance - it is beautiful and fun. Highly recommended

A night of sound and colour.
Booked two tickets to see the Moulin Rouge for 24/1/24. Turned out to be a fabulous show with the male lead singer and the ringmaster being the best vocalists. The stage and the surroundings a sight to see seen. With action from star to finish. Only downside. The old seats but that’s to be expected from such an old building. We will be going back soon.

    Fabulous!!
This show was just so so amazing! Brilliant! And probably one of the best if not the best show I’ve ever seen! I was rapt from start to finish … the stunning set, costumes, lighting, music and the sheer energy of the cast … I can find no fault with this production which was moving, funny and exhilarating in equal measure …. I can highly recommend a few hours at the Piccadilly theatre where you can immerse yourself in this wonderful spectacle and forget about the troubles in the real world for just a while.

    My new favourite show!
My wife and I visited on Tuesday 30th January. The theatre and staging is incredible and the atmosphere that is created prior to and during the show is electric. Top tip - take your seats 30 minutes prior to the show starting. We sat in the stalls row G and for an immersive experience I would recommend sitting in the stalls for this show.

I have tried to book online on their site ATG tickets, with 2 different browsers for over 2 hours, without success. I then phoned them to make the booking and was put through to a 7p a minute line with conditions and options and then music; so i gave up. I was prepare to pay about £200 per ticket and this service is appalling.

Very mixed feelings about the theatre following a fabulous performance of Moulin Rouge. The show was exciting, colourful and thoroughly enjoyed by all, shown by the cast getting a standing ovation at the end. BUT and it’s a big BUT …why did the theatre ticket providers insist on arriving 1.5hours prior to show? COVID measures we presumed, and thought that different seats were advised for different times but no, all those arriving at 1pm were then herded into a very small bar area where social distancing was impossible and made to wait an hour before being allowed into their seats. One can only presume this is to up the bar takings as it was suggested that arrival after 1pm would mean you missed your time arrival and so the show. But those who had experienced this bad organisation before arrived just before the show at 2.30 and were allowed in. I would advise you to IGNORE the arrival time to lessen your chances of covid especially if you think social distancing is important.

Firstly a little about the theatre. We went in January whilst some Covid restrictions were still in place. Covid checks were swiftly undertaken, we’d got there early so we’re able to get a seat in the bar to enjoy an “expensive” pre show drink.
The theatre has had an absolutely spectacular overhaul & you almost feel that you are walking into the Moulin Rouge.
We had brilliant tickets about five rows back, slightly to the right of the theatre.
Seats were comfortable with enough room & view perfect.
As for the show….,Wow it is absolutely spectacular. Make sure you get there a bit earlier as there is a little “show before the show” this really built the atmosphere.
The cast were brilliant, although I did feel chemistry between 2 leads was a little lacking.
I’m looking forward to rebooking.

We (like everyone else!) had been waiting a long time for this! The staging and songs were spectacular, a throughly enjoyable show.
Sadly though, theatre etiquette seems to be a thing of the past. People arrived late (15-20) mins after the show started, and were allowed in causing massive disruption to a large number of people who had to stand to let them in and blocking view of everyone else in the rows behind. Very drunk people were allowed in, who then had loud conversations throughout, and repeatedly getting up to go to the toilet, again disrupting a lot of people. The sound of wine bottles being knocked over was common place, despite the theatre website saying things in glass should be decanted into plastic before entering the theatre.
A trip to the theatre isn’t cheap, and the show is incredible, sadly ruined by rude spectators.

Moulin Rouge was a fabulous show but let down at every turn by the Piccadilly Theatre.

We booked disabled access seats as two of our party are registered disabled. On arrival we discovered the seats were up several stairs. Staff shrugged and said things like ‘I don’t know who was in charge of access tonight.’

One of our group queued the whole interval for an ice cream. She got almost to the front of the queue before they stopped serving because the show was about to start! Really unprofessional and the queue should have been capped if they didn’t want to serve everyone.

Ordered drinks at the seats and had to get up to pay for them, so a bit pointless. One member of staff would take drinks orders, but the other just scowled and tapped the QR code on the seats.

Security were a distraction during the finale. I presume they thought someone was trying to take a photo, but they aggressively caught the attention of everyone but the supposed culprit who was probably sat in the middle of a row. There was a lot of leaning and glaring and sign waving from the theatre staff.

At the end of the show, there were horrifically long queues for only 3 toilet cubicles, while announcements were made ordering everyone to get out. All the other toilet facilities were deliberately kept locked despite a sold out performance. When we eventually got to the front there was urine all over the floor and the flushes were broken.

Five stars for the show, but one star for this theatre. I can see from other reviews that they don’t act on complaints.

I went to see moulin rouge on the 24th feb, there was a group of 15 of us attended for my 40th birthday a mixture of ages 30-74 year old. The booking of the tickets was very straight forward and ran smoothly, the gentleman was very helpful. Getting into venue was fine waited for a short time to get in with bag and covid pass check but was fine, bar area rammed, found seat straight away. The show was absolutely breath taking, absolutely outstanding!! The music, the singing just fabulous. I was engrossed watching it then 10 minutes after the interval I was tapped on the shoulder and told ‘to be quiet and it was my last warning’ by one of the stewards absolutely shocked and embarrassed by what he said I said to the stranger next to me what have I done, and she replied I have no idea. The rest of the show was spoilt as I felt angry and confused and afraid to move!!! When the show finished I went to the bar and spoke to the man who had said this and asked why he had been so rude and what I had done and he couldn’t answer, i then asked to speak to a manger and the customer experience manager came out, I told him what had happened and how I had been made to feel, and his reply was our staff would have been following our protocol, I was absolutely gobsmacked! All I wanted was a sorry you were made to feel like this, I asked him to look at the cameras and see my conduct as I think he has got me mixed up with someone else, he was really unhelpful and dismissive, wouldn’t take my name and contact details, he didn’t follow any kind of complaints procedure and I am left just feeling furious that such an amazing experience and show was tainted by such appalling conduct from male staff against a female. I have complained on trustpiolet and still waiting a response.

The Moulin Rouge was great! The door staff to get in were also courteous and wished us a great show. We were all excited and looking forward to it as we headed to the bar. That’s when everything changed due to the really shocking behaviour of one of the bar staff. It was the most bizarre thing that has ever happened to us in a theatre.

There were 6 of us, 3 couples, all in our 50s and between us have enjoyed hundreds of shows. The bar was understandably busy so the ladies went to the seats as the men queued for drinks. On getting to the front, the barman, very rudely, told us he would only serve us one drink per person. Not wanting to make a fuss and still trying to keep the mood upbeat we rang the ladies who all had to be summoned to the packed bar where he proceeded to process the order on the till. When I asked him why he thought that was necessary he just simply said “right! I’m not having any attitude” and refused to serve us! Unbelievable! But it didn’t stop there unfortunately.

I can reassure you that this was bizarre because there was nothing said or done to warrant this petty behaviour.

Not wanting to create any more of a fuss, as he was really going out of his way to totally destroy the mood, we left the bar and took our seats.
At the interval we patiently queued again and we deliberately queued in the line for a different bar staff. When we got to the front he stopped serving his line and came over to us as we were placing our order with his perfectly pleasant colleague. We were then asked by him what we would like. We politely informed him that we had placed our order with his colleague who continued to serve us without issue. His response to this was nothing short of bizarre. With us, and by now just a handful of other theatre goers, still in the bar he literally rushed round the bar to the door which would take us back to our seats saying “you won’t get back into the show in time so you’ll miss the second half!” and started to lock them. A bit alarmed, I asked the lady who was serving us if we were likely to miss the second half. She just responded with a simple “no”. She was right of course and we went back to our seats and enjoyed the second half perplexed at the strange behaviour of someone who was really keen to ruin our evening with this petty, childlike behaviour.
Anyway, show was good but the theatre gets one star due to the totally unnecessary behaviour of this one individual. Harsh, maybe but fair. He has no place in an entertainment setting.

Arrived to see Pretty Woman with a champagne package. We were given great service and felt very special. When arriving we were told to go around the side of the theatre to the Ambassador entrance where we were shown to a lovely little intimate room and served champagne and snacks before the show. We were able to leave our coats etc at our table as that was to be where we returned for the interval and had more snacks with ice cream served. The staff were very attentive and on top of that the Musical Pretty Woman was fantastic with brilliant actors. Seats were very comfortable. All in all a great evening.

Everything about this theatre is small, the size of the seats, the leg room and the bar area. If you are bigger than average the seat might be a tight squeeze. We were there to see Pretty Woman which was totally amazing.
