Great Place
Sep 2020
Went to see a film here and was generally impressed with the whole experience. The building was modern and it failed to disappoint me. Everything about the experince was great and there were no issues at all!

Great Cinema , shame about the rest.
Oct 2019 • Friends
I meet my friend in Central London as we live far apart. Our normal cinema visits are approximately £12-18 depending on the cinema. We were shocked to find £23 was the price to see Terminator in the IMAX screen. We had traveled quite a distance so decided to pay. Once in we tried to buy drinks, the Pepsi Max was coming out like water, so the staff member went to fix it. After 5 minutes he came back, but it still wouldn’t pour. So we asked for a Diet Pepsi, the same problem, not working. After a further 10 minutes we were told to take a refund or 7up which was working. Our whole day was planned around our cinema time as we were going to see 2 films with lunch in between. I can’t believe that most of the drinks weren’t available on a Saturday morning. Surely they’d be checked by management before opening🤷🏻‍♂️ We have been to the empire many times, but will seriously consider going to the other cinemas nearby in future as the service was very poor. And the staff didn’t seem to care.

Cineworld Leicester Square 4DX 3D (Avengers Endgame)
May 2019 • Friends
This was my first time at a 4DX screen and we booked seats C10, C11, C9 (there a 4 seats are in blocks of 4 but are all right next to each other) I would recommend a middle seat in row C or D as these are the best rows for the 3D and for the water/ fog experience. The further you go back the higher the seats are from the screen and you don't really feel the 4DX fog, fans or bubbles.

The 4DX wasn't intrusive once the film started and felt very natural but as expected during the final fight scenes expect to get blown away by the fans, punched in the back and swung around by your chair. As I previously watched Avengers in 2D I already enjoyed the film for what it was but the 4DX screening was really a different experience.

I'm not sure if i'll watch another film in 4DX as I did feel a little nauseous at the end of the fight scene but defiantly something to try! The tickets come at around £25 each but you get a discount if you buy a Cineworld Plus card (I saved £5 and received £6 in vouchers). Unfortunately the drinks machine and iceblast machine we're broken so we were completely restricted to the fridge drinks and they do close the tills shortly after the last screen goes in so if you get thirsty buy an extra drink if you have a late screening (the screens are quite hot inside - thank goodness for the 4DX fans).

Amazing IMAX
Feb 2019 • Couples
Went to see the the Alex Honnold documentary Free Solo on the IMAX screen. The picture and the sound is truly remarkable whilst the seats are very comfy. Of course you will pay West End prices for the admission but if you want the film to be a special experience you will not be disappointed.

Problems at Leicester Square
Jan 2019 • Couples
Went to this cinema last monday 1300 On arrival there was no one on duty at the ticket booth and a flight of steps to get to the cinema. There were three staff at the top of the stairs we asked for help and they said there was a ramp.well there is but is right around the side of the building and not for public access. One we had navigated this the foyer is bright and coffee shop is good as it serves beer. However getting to the screen required even more steps and there is no central aisle in the screen.Film presentation itself was superb.Staff said there were lifts to the upper floors so why no lift from the entrance

Overwhelming But For All The Wrong Reasons
Nov 2018 • Couples
Difficult to give a fair review for the Empire Leicester Square, given that there appears to be at least seven screens and we were in number seven.

The screen was only accesible via a mountainous three-stage climb up a narrow passage. Couldn't see any disabled access or lift. Inside, just three rows of maybe thirty seats and we were in the middle row, which was just about acceptable. Front row was too close, back row near perfect but we had to move to our allotted seats as the cinema filled up. At least plenty of leg room. Far too hot in there and then almost too cold when somebody complained and the air-con kicked in. Toilets seemed to be half a mile from this screen - I wouldn't normally have an issue but there was almost thirty minutes of adverts and trailers before the film began.

The main foyer and food area is awful. A large dark shell but with flashing lights, bright neon strips and moving images. I can't believe that anybody over 25 would be impressed, while for me it was all potentially migraine inducing. Quite awful.

The reality is that I tend to patronise certain favoured London cinemas but the the film which we wanted to see wasn't on anywhere else at the time. Concessionary prices were reasonble for Leicester Square but I guess but we won't be rushing back.

Screen 3 is tiny!
Oct 2018 • Couples
Cineworld in Leicester Square has recently been revamped, but not all of it was an improvement. The interior was black & shiney, with video screens everywhere, even on the stairs. Very disconcerting.
The movie we went to see was showing in Screen 3 which has just 23 seats, so wherever you sit you will be very close to the screen. It can be overwhelming for some people.

I think the staff should be very proud of themselves they deliver amazing amazing customer service and go beyond what there job is I mean I go to see a film every couple of weeks and I'm in a wheelchair and the staff are so helpful to me like they open doors help me get my tickets and snacks show me to my seat bless them and carry snacks if I need them to they always carry out customer service with a smile. And I would just like to add what amazing people they are as well always helpful and kind and they do whatever they can to be of help and try there best you couldnt be of anymore help and the staff do work there socks of at sutton empire cinema and the revamp is amazing and outstanding now seats are amazing and comfy and the 3d IMAX and dbox room is the wow factor and the hole place is now its been revamped now and stuff and the staff are lovely people what a lovely bunch or young people you have working for you. And would like to add great experience I have every time and the managers need to tell there staff what an amazing jobs they all do and make sure just how good they do there jobs may I add. Will be coming bk to see more films and stuff thanks again to the staff of sutton empire cinemas and the prices of the snacks are to be expected wouldn't expect anything less but huge huge improvement

Very pleasant experience in the heart of premieres
Sep 2018 • Friends
I am usually not a fan of mainstream chain cinemas, like cineworld and odeon, however I was pleasantly surprised by this cinema. It was extremely clean and well-staffed. The screen was very big considering the small number of seats. Only criticism, is that there could be more of a cafe setup for food and more of a selection.
