- Titchvic123Torquay, United Kingdom21 contributionsWell spent afternoon1st time of seeing the show as we bought last minute tickets on the day. Loved it. Some of the good witch's songs were a bit high for my ears but the show overall was very enjoyable and easy to follow. Green witch was absolutely outstanding, definitely the strongest performer. - Tanya J3 contributionsGreat staff at theatreI wanted to say a massive thank you to the staff at this theatre I had an unfortunate incident that meant I had to leave mid performance at the very beginning. My daughter had ice cream balls that were made from cashew nut paste that she was allergic to. She started madly sneezing and the staff helped me get her swiftly out the theatre and get the right help. Thank you all so much and apologies to anyone watching the show I may have disturbed while leaving.Visited October 2023Traveled with familyWritten October 29, 2023

The show was absolutely amazing, Elphaba and Galinda (21st nov) were unreal! Singing and overall performance was everything that it should be. Costumes were gorgeous. - L0nd0n197556 contributionswickedGreat show. went to the afternoon show and glad to see it was packed. very well put together. avoid seats R19-R20. above the exit/entrance and with a staircase in front, people got in the way. I thought theatres closed the doors once the play started. other than that, great work.Dear L0nd0n1975 Thank you for your review following your visit to Wicked. In fact we both loved it. The story was clever, the performance flawless and thoroughly entertaining, the venue well organised and comfortable. Thoroughly recommend it!Dear Mike, Thank you for your review following your first visit to Wicked. - Kiaran M1 contributionAmazing show but duff soundThe show, the sets and the story were fab. It was such a shame that for such a big show that the sound was terrible. The only way that I can explain it is that it sounded like SD and not in your usual HD. The tickets are priced at a premium, which I wouldn't normally have a problem with but spend that money on making the show sound amazing!Dear kiaranm2018 Thank you for sharing your feedback with us. We are pleased to hear that you loved the story, set and show as a whole. We would be pleased to discuss the matter of the sound directly with you. Very good show which we really enjoyed. Understand the lead actresses were not the usual leads but wow they were fantastic - incredible voices. Defying gravity was my highlight. Good idea for the app to get drinks and snacks to your seat and beat the queues.Dear natnatnatx Thank you for your review following your first visit to Wicked in the West End. - Sarah MNottingham, United Kingdom24 contributionsOur first show and enjoyed itFirst time we have been to a show so difficult to critique. The show was interesting if you are fans of The Wizard of Oz, the production was good and clearly some very talented actors. We enjoyed the whole experience overall and would definitely go to further shows. The show we went to see was very busy and the entrance area was quite packed (probably due to the heavy rain and it being sold out) liked the ability to order interval snacks to your seat. Only criticisms would be queues for the toilet at the interval and the seating which we both felt were uncomfortable considering you are there for close to 3 hours. (time to upgrade them)Dear Sarah M Thank you for your review following your visit to Wicked, we're pleased to hear about your experience and will pass on your feedback. - HeldonearthRichmond, United Kingdom128 contributionsProfessional top notch productionAttended the Saturday matinee with my husband who has limited experience of the theatre and musicals. On the whole we had a lovely time and the whole production was excellent from the stage and technical right through to the costumes, acting, dancing and singing. For my husband it wasn’t a five star experience purely based on the fact that he wasn’t familiar with the storyline or knew any of the songs.Visited January 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten January 21, 2024
- Lisahwood10 contributionsSuperb!Had read some recent bad reviews so was not holding out for much however I was very pleasantly surprised. My husband, ten year old son and I all thoroughly enjoyed it from start to finish. It definitely helps if you know the story of the Wizard of Oz as it could be a bit confusing otherwise and you might miss some of the references to it. The singing, performing and stage effects were great and even though we were sat in the dress circle, there were no issues with sound volume or clarity. A fantastic show and a brilliant night out.Visited February 2024Traveled with familyWritten February 14, 2024

The show itself was great but as visitors stopping over in London from Europe back to North America we were appalled by the considerable disregard for Covid protocols, starting at the entrance where our PCR tests/vaccination certificates were not looked at closely, to the nearly half of the audience members not wearing masks and none of the staff enforcing this despite the announcement that this was a legal requirement. It is especially inexplicable to us how during this pandemic the theatre allows people to take huge drinks and large buckets of popcorn to their seats which of course leads to masks being off for long periods. We had recently attended a Broadway show where in comparison we had felt very comfortable - paperwork was closely verified at the entrance, audience members were masked and not allowed to take food and drinks to their seats. In summary, while the show itself was very good, the alleged Covid protocols are rather meaningless and we would not recommend this venue to anyone to whom it is important that these are respected. For us this unfortunately hugely detracted from what otherwise should have been an enjoyable evening.

This is the first show we have ever left at the interval and even that didn't come soon enough. Although the singing was sensational I personally felt it was very amateurish and I hate to say it, boring. One saving grace is that we only paid £20 each for our tickets so we didn't feel as though we had to stay.
We wanted to like it but sadly this wasn't the case.

First of all I have to admit I’m not a theatre goer. If the theatre is your thing I’m sure it would be an enjoyable experience. Was great from the set, cast, seating (stalls) to the orchestra. The show itself had an easy enough story to follow if you have seen the wizard of Oz. The downside for me was the volume of the mic on the cast. When large groups were singing you couldn’t hear the vocals clearly and at certain points the mics were too quiet for the characters when they were telling part of the story (only on a couple of occasions). For me it was a long show as it’s not my cup of tea but I’m sure theatre fans and children alike will enjoy.

Lovely theatre, awful production. Really really REALLY wanted to love this. Firstly we're not a 'musicals' family, so if you're a person or family that loves all of that regardless then this isn't the review for you. I'm coming from the perspective of an average Joe who goes to the theatre occasionally. Well, it started, none of us could get engaged. We waited... singing, singing , all singing, don't recall any spoken dialogue maybe when I bent down to get a glug of water and I missed some. Singing alone would have been fine seeing as it's a musical (what did we expect) but none of the songs were catchy or entertaining. You know that feeling when you're in a daydream just staring and realise you've missed half of what's been going on. I thought it was just me but I looked round and the rest of the family were fidgeting, looking about, restless.... Anyway we waited.. thought it might pick up after the interval. It didn't . We left ten minutes later . Extremely boring so so so disappointed I don't get all the good reviews. Having spoken to people after it seemed that half absolutely loved it ...the other half thought same as us and knows another family that walked out. I loved loved loved SIX the musical and even Matilda was good, this was not. I would recommended saving your money and checking out the reviews and pick something more substantial and entertaining. I look back and wonder if it was because we had seats in the upper circle however I've watched a panto from literally the back seat of a huge theatre and loved it so , I really don't know. Personally I would not recommend sadly. Very unentertaining ..way too much singing ( and of boring songs) no characters for us to engage with, no storyline of note. Great theatre.

My partner bought us tickets for a Tuesday night performance. Laura Pick is currently playing Elpheba. Although I'd never come across Laura before, she is absolutely superb in the role!
In 2017, I saw the show for the first time and Willemijn Verkaik was playing Elpheba. She was truly awesome in this role and is a tough act to follow as Elpheba. Laura well and truly did the role justice.
The set is excellent and of high quality. Costumes, hair and make-up are truly incredible. The vocals are breath-taking.
Having sat in the stalls during my first visit and the circle on this last visit, I would HIGHLY recommend the stalls. The circle is very good however, but the stalls (in my opinion) give the best view / experience overall.

Went along with my daughter who had been before. It wouldn't have been my first choice (can't explain why) but I was blown away . The small intimate theatre, the visual feast of the stage props, the amazing voices from all the cast, the story line that fits in so well with a 50+ year old film was amazing. Would definitely recommend.

Stupidly I nearly read Into the negative reviews of late for Wicked and didnt go. Some.of the reviews are blatant fakes, never listen to the opinion of an account with a single review. And for the others they can't be very big fans of musicals. I'm very glad we went, genuinely a great show, quite tounge in cheek, dosent take itself too seriously, decent humour, well acted, great sets and costumes. And most importantly some great musical numbers. And as for some of the comments on the vocals, unless the cast has changed recently, the people saying the singing was poor must have hearing issues. The whole cast had very good voices, and the girl playing elthsaba, her vocals were phenomenally good and it was great to see the crowd appreciation, huge rounds of applause following her songs.

We left at the interval and even then that was too long to wait. There is no story or plot of any worth to really sustain the show. Dialogue is minimal and songs are blasted out in quick succession. Great if you like songs but my kids were bored due to the lack of anything for the songs to hang off. Very weak storyline. The whole Wicked franchise is there to screw you for as much as they can from your visit - I guess this is the modus operandi of all big hit musicals - except this one is shizz. I feel for the actors because they did a perfect job, the set was good, the production quality was also very high but it was not entertaining. Unless you are an ardent fan of musicals, don't get sucked into the hype - it simply is not worth wasting your time and money.

Went to see Wicked on 18th September 2021 as an alternative to Back To The Future, which had been cancelled. Thoroughly enjoyed the show, performers were great, particularly the actor playing Boq. The reasons for a three star review - It was difficult to hear dialogue and a lot of the ensemble songs at various points throughout the show, presumably due to something going wrong on a technical front. My main complaint however, is that absolutely no theatre staff told anyone to wear masks, despite it clearly being stated at the beginning of the show and in the booking details. Out of a near capacity audience of around 2,300 maybe 30 or so people (including myself and partner) were doing as asked.

It's a two-minute walk from Victoria train station to the Apollo Victoria Theatre.

I would look at public transport especially a train as Victoria Station is across the road from theatre. Also have a look on Victoria Station site I'm sure they would have disabled parking. Hope this helps

Written November 20, 2019
I think so It’s not scary it’s not about scary witches it’s about love an understanding. It’s not scary monkeys it’s dramatic music. If you let your kids see wizard of Oz the film then this show is fine.

Hello,
Can anyone tell me the best seats to book for Wicked with a good view?
Obviously exceptionally expensive but I would like a ground floor view so I do not have to go up high in the theatre and avoid a lot of steps? Thank you.
Written October 13, 2019
We sat up on the first row of the top balcony...they were good seats but you do have to walk up a few flights of stairs. The only thing you couldn't see at some times was the very back of the stage but it definitely didn't ruin the show for us. hope you get your seats the show is brilliant!!!!!
