The area
Neighborhood: City of London
From its ancient past as a Roman trading outpost to its 21st century status as the wealthiest square mile in the world, the financial district known simply as “The City” is one of London's most historic and fascinating neighborhoods. Here high rise office towers such as Norman Foster’s Gherkin mingle with Roman ruins and architectural marvels from virtually every era in between, including Christopher Wren's glorious St.Paul's Cathedral, and John Soane's dauntingly classicist Bank of England. This neighborhood is also home to some of the finest restaurants and plushest hotels in Europe, in addition to an assortment of watering holes, upscale shops, and Tube stations. During the week, the City is abuzz with white collar workers going about their business; the weekend sees this area turn into a quiet haven for sightseers.

Easy to book lunch online. A few minutes walk from the Royal Courts of Justice and Temple Church, both worth a visit. A beautiful hall, built in the reign of Elizabeth 1, normally closed to the public. The staff couldn't have been more welcoming. Lovely lunch, wide choice including vegetarian, excellent roast meat. An experience not to be missed.

Great showing by all of the volunteers and security personnel who made this year’s event possible. Parts of Middle Temple Hall were open to the public with some kid friendly activities (ie, don a wig and cloak for a photo). The stained glass in the hall is stunning.

Fabulous venue with unparalleled heritage - open to public lunchtimes. Food is good rather than excellent, but you cannot beat eating in same room as Elizabeth I did and where William had his first enactment if Twelfth Night. Always a great variety of dishes. Self service for members, waiter service for public visitors. I never miss an opportunity to have lunch there!

I have wanted to have lunch here for ages and was so looking forward to it as I'm a tour guide and lead tours around the Inns of Court.
The hall itself as expected is beautiful and knowing some of the history of this place makes it magical.
Upon arrival the man greeting us and lady sorting seating were nice enough. Its a serve yourself buffet which was a surprise but ok let's go with it. Upon sitting down no one came to see if we'd like wine, I had to walk back to the till and ask how we order this and was told she'd send someone over. We go to get first course.
Soup way too peppery, made me cough, I didn't finish it. Still no wine. Go and get 2nd course Salmon en Croute. It was barely warm, the vegetables barely warm and hard, really disappointing I've had far better food in an average pub. Ask again for wine and finally it arrives. Pudding ok but nothing special.
Overall this was underwhelming, they were not even busy, took ages to clear the plates away, which is sloppy and unacceptable. l left most of my veggies as just too cold and hard to eat.
Now I know this is not very expensive but I have had far better meals in pubs.
At the time I booked a couple of months beforehand I was told it was the last sitting before Christmas so maybe the staff couldn't be bothered, it felt a bit like that. My friends and I wouldn't do this again and I so wanted to be impressed with this. Come on, your Middle Temple Hall for gods sake. Pull it up.

This had got to be the worst meal I’ve ever had! I was with a U3A group so there was about 25 of us. We all had to have the same, which was a starter and a main meal option. The soup was Luke warm and supposed to be sweet red pepper and lentil, which it tasted and looked nothing like this at all, but the main course was even worse. It was supposed to be Salmon en croute, which literally means salmon in pastry……we got….a small pice of salmon on a bed of cabbage, thin green beans and beans in a tomato sauce, topped with a YORKSHIRE PUDDING! Unbelievable…….it was truly disgusting……we could have only the 2 courses….thankfully as goodness knows quite what we would have had for that. So beware, although we thought we were going to have a carvery, this is what we ended up with, nothing what so ever like the menu…..not cheap either.

My son and I went to see the play performed by an all male cast, headed by Mark Rylance. The setting was superb, as were the props. The acting was excellent: Mark Rylance, in particular, glided around the performing area as if he were on wheels. I was very taken with the young man who played Viola - it was very easy to suspend disbelief and think that the womens's parts were played by women. The goody bag containing food that the people of Shakespeare's time might eat was a lovely touch. I really enjoyed the show, as did my son and I wish that it had been videoed so that those not able to get to see the show could also enjoy it.

If you ever come to London for the day and want to have a wonderful, three course lunch at a risible price - about £25 - and in an Elizabethan hall finally opened by Elizabeth l - please book on line at Middle Temple Hall. The food is five star, the setting is six star and the staff are countless moons. You even watch judges dining on High Table and can tell the hungry - 'and wretches hang that jury men may dine' -from the hungover.
Nearby is Temple Church a must for Crusaders and also, of course, The Royal Courts of Justice.
The lunch, though, is the point of the visit!

Middle Temple Hall is part of the Inner Temple. It was an oasis of calm after walking through the hectic streets of London. I visited Middle Temple Hall to attend a performance of A Christmas Carol by Antic Disposition. Antic Disposition specializes in creative staging of classics primarily by Shakespeare. This theater company reimagined A Christmas Carol in historic Middle Temple Hall which was visited by both Shakespeare and Charles Dickens during their lifetimes. Antic Disposition added music to A Christmas Carol by including traditional carols with additional lyrics related to the story of Scrooge. Inventive lighting further told the story of this classic Christmas tale. Refreshments for just 5 pounds included a mince pie and mulled wine. Middle Temple Hall and Inner Temple are both worth a visit in the absence of a performance. Antic Disposition does other performances in unique venues so it may be worth a Google search to find their latest production. This was the highlight of my recent trip to London!!

We went to Middle Temple for a function. I was amazed that despite having visited London a few times it has never crossed my radar. As you go in it is like entering another century with the cobbled streets and little things barrister chambers. The Middle Temple Hall oozes history. I am pretty sure the public can get in but you may have to check when it is open.

Want something different? This is our 3rd visit to a theatre performance in the historic Middle Temple Hall just off Fleet Street, wandering through the historic buildings, gardens and court yards warms your heart with nostalgia. On arrival the hall welcomes you with ancient charm, plaques of former and current barristers around the panelled room with its high vaulted ceiling is a perfect setting. The interval is as exciting as the play as you have the opportunity to soak up and view the many artefacts in the hall and adjoining rooms. Just love the evening, must recommend to anyone close to Fleet Street.

Were you able to have a guided tour ? If so how did you arrange it?
I'm having difficulty finding public tour info on their website. Thanks for any details you can share.

I went for a ceremony so I would not be able to answer your question. If you can get a guided tour I am sure that it would be really interesting so I would recommend calling them.
