Tried to visit for late dinner, but the restaurant was closed by 9:30 p.m. Returned for lunch and enjoyed basic fare at basic prices and good service. Quite busy for late lunch around 2:30 p.m. The pub is a local favorite so you will find it populated at all hours, but the upstairs restaurant is only open during the day.... More

Absolutely rubbish! My mother, sister and myself were seated and told that the waiter would be with us any moment. 15 mins later, our order had still not been taken and a group of 7 came down and sat next to us. About 10 minutes after this, the waiter arrived and proceeded to take the order of the group of... More

This bar literally stole my money. I stopped in and ordered a pint of Guinness, which the bar tender refused to start pouring until I had paid first. I have never been asked to do this at a bar before, especially given how long it takes to pour. Regardless, I used a credit card with pin to pay and didn't... More

Came here this evening for a nice date with my partner. I had a table booked. I was just unsatisfied with the whole experience. The service was slow and very unorganised and her food was ice cold. I will not be returning unfortunately.

Layout of the pub was a little confusing so we took a seat in eyeshot, no wait staff to direct to tables. Appears to have extra seating upstairs Food was well cooked, and at a reasonable price. Would return again if around that part of town again

We stopped at this pub on my last day in london because we had both seen the pub and it was across from our hotel in trafalgar square. The pub and staff are very friendly and the pub looks incredible. The food was excellent although the service was a bit slow when it was time to settle the bill. Paying... More

Went to The Sherlock Holmes at lunchtime. The service was attentive and professional. Whilst we did wait a while for our food it was worth the wait.

Staying in Trafalgar Square / Embankment

Neighborhood Profile
Trafalgar Square / Embankment
With its iconic Nelson’s Column, majestic oversized lions and brightly-lit fountains, Trafalgar Square is not just considered the heart of this bustling London hub, but the very core of the city itself. Beyond this esteemed gathering place are more famous icons, as well as a disproportionate numbers of the city’s most popular cultural attractions including the National Gallery and many West End theaters. Along the way to these major sites are quiet lanes and antiquated pubs to discover, as well as riverside vistas to enjoy on the embankment. With a calendar full of celebratory events, any time of year is a fine time to visit.
