About
Established in the 1970’s, Mudchute Park and Farm is one of the largest city farms in Europe. With 32 acres of countryside, located a stone's throw away from the hustle and bustle of Canary Wharf, the farm is a place where you can experience rural life without leaving the city. We are proud to be one of London's only Rare Breed Survival Trust's Approved Conservation Farm Parks. The farm is home to over 100 animals, including pigs, sheep, goats, cows, ducks, geese, chickens, rabbits, and even llamas. Visitors can get up close and personal with the animals by feeding them or petting them under the supervision of the farm's expert staff. Mudchute Park and Farm is a fantastic destination for families, animal lovers, and anyone looking to escape city life and enjoy some time in nature. With its wide range of facilities and activities, there's something for everyone to enjoy at this unique urban farm.

Address
Neighborhood: Docklands / Canary Wharf / Isle of Dogs
Canary Wharf, resting on the Isle of Dogs, represents London's modern financial hub, a contrast to the historical charm of central London. With a skyline dominated by towering skyscrapers such as One Canada Square, it's a paradise for architecture enthusiasts. Its vast underground shopping complex brims with upscale boutiques and eateries, from sleek sushi bars to traditional British pubs. Cultural gems like the Museum of London Docklands and sleek galleries are interspersed among the high-rises. Accessibility isn't a worry, with the Docklands Light Railway (DLR), underground tube stations, and the river bus services connecting Canary Wharf to the rest of London swiftly.

I visited Mudchute park and farm at the end of October last year with my girlfriend and I was astonished that I hadn't come across this island of peace and quiet before. We greatly enjoyed exploring the farm and seeing the various animals up close, including llamas, pigs, sheep, pheasants and goats. Entry is free and the farm's only a short walk away from Greenwich, so I recommend you take the opportunity to explore Greenwich's lovely parks, the great food market and one of its charming pubs after visiting the farm.

Such a beautiful “escape” from the city. We loved seeing all of the animals and walking through the park. There are so many birds and squirrels in addition to the farm animals. My husband and I enjoyed it as adults, but we saw many families with children there. The children were overjoyed getting to feed and watch the animals.
Thank you for your wonderful review.

A really good farm. Large and spacious with lots to see. Some traditional animals and some more exotic ones. Well run, clean and maintained with a kids area with lots of other pens to view. A great asset to the Isle of Dogs and will look to return and continue to support.

This was a great farm with no ticket box or particular entrance you can just walk in from mudchute park etc. We entered the farm from the bottom left part of mudchute park after getting off at mudchute DLR. depending on what platform you get off at the park / farm is across the road where the zebra crossing. If you get off the platform that goes towards bank then cross over the top of the DLR station.
There is a little office near the cafe / toilets etc where you can buy food for the animals for £1.
There are a variety of animals, pigs, ducks, Lamars, goats, sheep etc. There’s an area to sit down on the grass for a picnic or tables near the cafe.
The food look really nice but the queue was quite long, it was bank holiday Friday though and a nice hot day.
We found it quite a relaxed farm and enjoyed it. Would recommend to others.

I'd visited the farm for the first time by myself the previous day when the weather was very dull. The following day was sunny and I decided to bring my wife along for a second visit. We enjoyed seeing the animals very much and met some friendly human visitors too. However, our interaction with the staff at the farm was rather less pleasant. I queued for almost an hour in a not very long queue only to be told by the unfriendly catering staff in an abrupt fashion that cards would not be accepted for items less than £5. We don't handle cash during the covid crisis and also noted there were no notices regarding mask-wearing and social distancing anywhere. The cafe, anyway, seemed less than capable of handling the customer traffic. We found any form of reception missing and had to find out own way around the farm as many signs were rusted or even bent in the wrong direction! My wife was sad that the pigs only had mud in their area without any dry parts. We saw no horses or donkeys or any staff explaining anything to visitors. Hasn't the farm ever heard of customer relations? Despite this we did enjoy our visit very much as the animals, the sunny day and the setting contributed much. improved management, however, is urgently required together with an updating of facilities and a sprucing up of signage.

City farm, very close to the train station. Free to enter, lots of animals to see. Different types of ducks, goats, sheep, chickens, donkeys and ponies. Animals look well-cared for and happy. They sell food for a pound a bag but sadly no one was available to sell us any on our visit. Others had it, though, so maybe just poor timing. It’s run by volunteers so I can’t be too hard on them. Restrooms available and they are clean!

Such a good place for both adults and kids! The fact it’s free is mind blowing as they have a good range of animals and there was the cutest little calf there when we went! You’re able to feed some of the animals with £1 bags of food which is a good little experience too, we really enjoyed ourselves :)

I have been here many times before when I lived in London, and I always loved it. It was my go to place to cheer myself up. Its changed a lot since I last visited and seems bigger! My favourite ram didn't seem to be there anymore so I was sad about that, but it still made me happy walking round and my partner couldn't believe such a place was in the middle of London (his first time in the city).
We sadly couldn't see the ponies as it was closed off, and we didn't stay for food.
However I got some amazing photos on my new Nikon which was one of the reasons we visited last week, and the animals didn't disappoint, you can tell they are so used to people.
This place is a little piece of heaven for anyone feeling they need a serotonin boost.

This was my first visit with my very young grandchildren and family last Sunday and it was a great experience. Plenty of animals to see including friendly lamas in addition to the usual farmyard animals and pets such as rabbits. An excellent cafe is the icing on the cake and the cakes were delicious as well as the hot drinks. So a must if you have young children as they will enjoy the extensive area to explore. The adjacent park is yet to be explored on a future visit. And to top it all it is free entry.

Admission is free! Sheep and goat food for feeding cost 1 Pound Sterling per packet. Had enjoyed the feeding time. Recommended for family with young children and teenagers, and those like farm animals.

Not like it used to be.
Many years ago, my son and I would visit and hand feed HORSES. Horses each had their own stable with their own name above the door. Animal feed used to be 50p. It was quiet, no matter what day of the week it was.
There were cows, bulls, rabbits, and the usual chickens, goats, donkeys, pigs etc. There would be no more than 10 people on the farm. Nobody had heard of it. Those were the days!

Fast forward almost 15 years later.
Queues and hordes of families, children etc. More people have discovered it! You can no longer see the horses as they've extended the paddock area which is off limits to the public. No bulls or cows in sight. Animal feed is now £1 and half a bag less. Duck pond is gone. Public can no longer walk among the sheep that used to graze on the hills, thanks to the woke brigade/ health & safety.

Only upsides are the addition of llamas, bigger picnic area and animals are well looked after.
Not sure why people expect customer service when it's a FARM.
Will visit again but only when kids return to school.
I only came because my friend has kids and wanted to take them out.
I was shocked at the changes and how packed it was.
I am thankful my son and I had good times here when it used to be better.

Lovely farm, friendly animals who u can feed with purchased £1 food bags (although not the pigs).
Hard to believe you’re only a short walk from Canary Wharf and its shiny skyscrapers.
Hopefully, the Cafe will reopen soon under new management.

Charming farm with lovely well kept animals. Great that it’s dog friendly.

BUT nothing was open. It says the courtyard opens at 9:30am but that didn’t open until 10am. Shop never opened so we couldn’t buy feed for the animals. The petting area which was supposed to open at 9:30am too was still closed at 11am. Disappointing.

Don’t believe the times listed on the website or maybe go later on.

Farm is very small you only need 30-60 minutes to walk around.
