If you only had an afternoon to experience London on a grand scale, Westminster would be a wise place to start. The ornate Houses of Parliament and Westminster Abbey sit adjacent at a corner of Parliament Square, and a short stroll along The Mall leads to Buckingham Palace. Trafalgar Square and Nelson's Column are just up the road as well. As captivating as the architecture is, the wonders of Mother Nature are highlights of the area too. St James's Park (arguably London's loveliest), the expansive Green Park, and pedestrian friendly tree lined paths along the river showcase the exquisite manicure provided by English gardeners. Just beyond the landmarks and the gorgeous outdoor spaces, quiet residential squares and age old local pubs offer a more subdued take on this global seat of power in the heart of London.

10 Downing Street has the most famous door of the world. I was truly amused to see that this mediocre building has been the residence and office of the British Prime Minister since 1732. The first Prime Minister to live here was Sir Robert Walpole, who in reality was the First Lord of the Treasury of King George II and only officiated as the Prime Minister. This building is one of the terraced houses, overlooking the St. James’s Park, which were built in 1684 by Downing, who was a two faced spy of Cromwell and then Charles II. The building is more than 300 years old and contains approximately 100 rooms. I found it very funny that the Prime Minister lives in a small flat on the third floor while his kitchen is in the basement. The interesting story here is that out of the last few Prime Ministers very few have lived in Number 10, as the apartment is really cramped. Tony Blair, who had family with young children, requested his treasurer Gordon Brown, who was a bachelor, to swap houses. Since then David Cameron and Boris Johnson have followed his suit. Currently, tourists can only see this building from a distance, through a fence, or take a virtual tour. My advice to those of you who are really craving for a photo in front of this door is to go to 10 Adam House in Strand and fulfil you wish.🤣

Dissolve thé monarquie know. As thé cheef of state is dead. Thé one preserving thé principals of à monarquie. Crowning à cople of adultèrers would be disasterous for thé history of UK. Elizabeth II maintainded thé principals of respect, both crown and People throuhout Her regidence. What's happening is outragious as an exemple of cheef of state. Thoughout de years thé équation of thé firme and thé 15% of thé gouvernement were questionned. Thé monarquie is no worth. Not as she is, not Who represent it at thé moment. Thé idéal of monarquie is dead for thé UK

Such a pity that the public can't get close to the famous number 10. I understand the security concerns, but it is a real pity you can see so little from the street outside.
Made a very quick stop with a small child, just to show her where the PM lived. Took about 20 seconds. Worth seeing, very briefly.

Daughter wanted to see this and was disappointed as couldn't really see anything - she was amazed at the size of the street, the armed police/security and the poor Gurkha hunger strike protesters on the other side of the road.
No Larry the cat about.
Took the obligatory photo of the Downing Street sign.
Homeless man fast asleep on the pavement 20 metres down.

Number 10 Downing Street is the residence of Britain's Prime Minister.
Due to security reasons, you cannot stand outside the door of Number 10 for photo opportunities and cannot see much from the iron security gates at the end of the street from Whitehall.
Would only suggest taking a peak through the gates if you are passing by on your way to Westminster or Trafalgar Square but I wouldn't go out of your way to see it, or you may be disappointed.

The residence of the Prime Minister (10 Downing Street) is blocked off for security reasons.
However, there is a door front at 10 Adam Street in London which is near identical to 10 Downing Street and only a 5 to 10 minute walk for the PM's residence.
As able to take a few photos in front of 10 Adams without disturbing the residents there. Great photo opportunity for your Xmas cards.

There's not really much to see. The street is blocked off with high gates and fences and lots of security/police. It was very busy too so it can be difficult to see anything. It's worth having a look if you're passing but I wouldn't go especially.

Walking in Whitehall, I wanted to check out the Downing Street No. 10.
Both end of the street were blocked like a fortress in a Mad Max movie with so many special policemen.
Anyway, I could just pop in to see residence of the PM.

Went past on the way to the war rooms. Can't see much from the road although you can make out the building the PM lives in. Quite crowded next to the main road so only worth stopping at for a minute or so.

I have just traveled to Downing Street from North Wales to test my eye site. I took my wife as it was her birthday, sorry she was with me to test my eyes also. We had a picnic and a man called Cummings came over and said it was not in the spirit of lock down, so we had to dive back.
