Amazing experience walking into a spectacular array which envelopes all the senses! The atmosphere is electric with music ranging from deep dub step, tribal beats, drum and bass to psy trance. I met loads of people on the dance floor, lots of smiles and making great connections. Definitely going again!!! Thanks for an incredible night …

I havent been there since the early 90s (golden) years of the techno-house scene. Back then it was a mind-opening experience (at least!)... and it was unavoidable to have it as a referenence, ever since. I moved from UK, years passed, but the winds of life let me spend one more night there just a month ago. I didnt know whether the gig still existed... but there it was. Man, the Whirly-Guys still have it... I dont know how it looks to younger clubgoers, but for us from the old-school (now at mid 40s) it is as orginal as it can get!…

I've been going to Whirl-y-Gig for 5 and a half years now. And the day I walked through those double doors in Crucifix Lane for the first time was the day my life changed. 'Whirl-y-Gig is an event difficult to describe and a moment difficult to miss. With a strong and loving life force the Whirl-y-Sound is a musical heart beat for a future global family.' It is exactly that, and more. Mary and Richard (AKA Monkey Pilot) have dedicated their lives to Whirly and have made it what it is today. They have changed the lives of many and have inspired and helped people to be able to shape themselves into the people they are today... To allow their inner spirit to soar free. When you walk into a Whirl-y-Gig for the first time you are welcomed with lights and decor in every colour of the rainbow, beautiful music (usually calm and relaxing at first and as the night moves on, the BPM cranks up) and friendly, welcoming faces. In the early days I went to Whirl-y-Gig on my own. But the beautiful thing was, I was never alone from the minute I walked in. I quickly became part of a regular crowd who attend every single month and got to know everybody really well, and these fellow whirl-Y-folk are now my bestest of friends, although we often refer to Eachother as our Whirl-Y-Family. Whirl-Y-Gig isn't just a club night. Far from. It's an experience, an adventure, an enlightening moment which we wait for eagerly every month. The energy, the atmosphere, the friendliness is just incredible. Age ranges vary from 18-80. Such an amazing variety of people, all there for the same reason: To dance. To be happy. To celebrate life and to live in peace, love and harmony with one another. You can approach anybody on the dance floor with a smile, a hug and an exchange of names and you'll find yourself dancing all night together and there you have it, a new friend for life! The music is just out of this world. DJ Monkey Pilot's huge knowledge of music from such a massive amount of genres is just insanely perfectly played. Expect to hear anything from trance, drum n bass, house, psytrance, dub, glitch, reggae, jungle, afrobeat.... The possibilities are endless, and MP has this incredible ability of mixing two completely different genres beautifully.... It just flows! The new venue (actually also one of their old venues) the Camden centre is amazing! It's a huge open space with a beautiful sprung wooden dance floor and a stage you can dance on. There's a bar with a nice variety of drinks, some chill out rooms out the back of the stage (Mush Rooms) and for the smokers, no queues to get outside. It's great to party in an old town hall as opposed to a commercialised night club, it's simply perfect! Security team are lovely - if it wasn't the law though, Whirly wouldn't even need security! In the 5 and a half years I've been going I've never encountered a single bit of trouble! The parachute at the end of the night is a perfect way to end a long night of dancing (even though you wish it never ends). I won't go in to any detail as it will spoil the amazing surprise!! All in all- whirl-Y-gig is wonderful, life changing, just perfect. I'm very lucky to have found Whirly and my whirl-Y-family, and I think everyone should be able to experience a whirl-Y-gig at some point in their life! Massive love to Mary and Richard Sutcliffe- if it weren't for their hard work and efforts over the past 3 decades our lives would not be what they are today. …

Went here after hearing about it months ago for a friends birthday. All I can say is it has to be seen to be believed! Amazing friendly people from all over, great music, great environment. Everyone is just out for a fun happy time. Great big room for dancing and another great big room where you can chill, laze about and even get your face painted. It's only on once a month and tickets online well out super fast. Special mention to Mary for going to lots of trouble for us on the night when it came to tickets. Amazing!!! Look forward to coming back soon.…

Absolutely love this place. You can find it down a side street off of London Bridge station, next to the arches. The place itself is no palace but the decoration is incredible. The colours and lighting inspire you to enjoy yourself. I've been to many raves and this is the one which puts in more effort to decor than any other. The music is usually amazing. It is literally as mixed at you can get but usually has a drum n bass, house or trance type beat to it. The whole set is very lively and will keep going right until the end. It is quite small. There are two rooms. The furthest room from the entrance is the biggest and has the sound system and lighting in it. Poeple can be found skanking in here towards the front and just having conversation and/or buying drinks (most commonly beer or water) at the bar. There is a chill out area for when it all becomes a bit too much and you want to sit down, or if you just want to meet some new people. In general people are very nice and friendly and easy to get on with. There is never any trouble. The security isn't particularly tight as long as you're friendly and don't 'take the piss'. Definitely ideal for young professionals who are a bit alternative and don't mind skanking in a hand decorated, underground venue. If you enjoy going to 6-10am (late) finishes, this is a great one to go to. If you like the club feel of venues such as Fabric and Ministry, you may be slightly uncomfortable in Whirly. However, if you go for the music and are open to new things, I'm sure you'll love it!…
