Although I live in London-south of the river, admittedly- it's years since I visited Hampstead Heath. So, I decided to rectify that on a sunny Saturday. The Heath is easily accessible- both by over ground and underground trains- and it doesn't take long to walk up to the heath itself. I especially love the secluded, wooded parts. They're a great... What a wonderful two hours in the most amazing place in London. Its another world where the rich and famous live.It was the "poor mans Bath" in its early growth and soon attracted some of the biggest names eg Constable,Robert Louis Stevenson ,Keates etc and it's easy to wander around in search of the blue plaques.Needless to say they would frequent... Get off the Hampstead tube stop on the Northern Line and you are still in London but in another world--a richly historic suburb. The main streets and side streets are full of inviting shops and places to eat. Up Holly Hill street from the tube stop is the Holly Bush pub on a site once owned by the painter George... More

Fantastic neighborhood mix of country and city. Great restaurants and Pubs. The Heath is several hundred acres of open space. Beautiful views.

One of the most beautiful and peaceful place of the city. A residential area not far from the center of London. The peculiarity of this place though is the beautiful, lush park adjacent to the residential area, a vast green area, with a grove. I've been here several times, but only for a walk to find a bit 'of calm... More

It had been a while and really I longed to see the wonderful view again from Holly mount. So on my last day in London I took the tube to Hampstead and went for a short walk up Holly Hill to Holly Mount... Lovely and still must be wonderful to live there!

Well if I can be so broad-brush it is a 5. As in it a great neighbourhood to visit, lots to see, lovely sidestreets, a superb "park" in the Heath, 30 minutes to the West End or the City. good shopping, good pubs, decent restaurants. Only really missing city-centre activities like major museums and sporting facilities. A really worthwhile visit... More

Cute little village on the Hill. Ok, it is more than a village, and it is accessible by the Tube, but it really looks like a village. And it is really charming. Enjoy hanging out in the street before joining the Hampstead Heath nearby!
