You need to have a photo plan though because it is hard to get a great shot as it is a busy road. I would go back and take the walk again for a better photo. If you are a Beatles fan, it is a must if you are in London! Abbey Road studios is cool to see too, if only from the outside. Surreal!Visited May 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten May 19, 2024
- Ana SouzaPorto Alegre, RS7 contributionsA walk through the history of musicVisiting Abbey Road was an emotional experience for me and my family. As music fans, walking down the famous street and seeing the Beatles' legendary studio was a special moment. Taking photos at the crosswalk was fun, however, it would be even better if there was a structure to help tourists take photos safely, as the street is quite busy.Visited July 2023Traveled with familyWritten May 20, 2024
- Vigdis LBaerums Verk, Norway22 contributionsAbby roadAbby road, the most legendary pavement in the whole world, this was also fun to experience. All The Beatles fans must go here. And Abby road studio was right below the pavement, we met Beatles fans from all over the world and of all ages. Strongly recommended.Visited May 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten June 3, 2024
- Aroundtheworldjohn19 contributionsDon’t go out of your wayA quick stop if you have 30 minutes to kill. Wouldn’t go out of your way to go there. Can only see the outside of the building through a gate and do the ceremonial walk across Abbey Road and take pictures. Then you keep getting asked to visit the gift shop. Unless you’re a big Beatles fan it’s probably something you can skip.Visited June 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten June 11, 2024
- Dai KKodaira, Japan349 contributionsHoly Land of Beatles FansFrom St. John's Wood station on the Jubilee subway line, cross the street, pass by the hospital and down the road that curves gently to the left, and you will find that crosswalk on your right. There are people visiting constantly during the day, so I think you'll find out soon enough. It's an ordinary pedestrian crossing in a quiet residential area, but Beatles fans love it. I thought I might never come again, so I crossed many times.Visited June 2024Traveled with familyWritten June 30, 2024
- amelia b34 contributionsA zebra crossing with so much history!3rd time of visiting Abbey Road and it always feels special to be there because it is a big part of British music history! Well worth a visit and always love signing the wall outside the studios! Also located in a very pretty area which is a 5 minute walk from Paul McCartney's London house, I am lucky enough to discover where he lives after recently doing the Beatles walking tour!Visited September 2024Traveled with familyWritten September 8, 2024
- Shirley EDronfield, United Kingdom427 contributionsA memorable and iconic placeI found this easily as I had researched the location before I set off. It’s wise to do so as I didn’t see any signs to it, but you could always ask at St John’s Wood tube station as there is a Beatles cafe there. It’s about a 10 minute walk from the station. On the way you’ll pass the blue plaque for Sir Thomas Beecham. I went early and arrived at 9.30 hopefully to miss the crowds but there was a big party of Spaniards there. So I had to wait a while until they’d all taken photos. Plus there is traffic of course, so you have to wait for them too. A nice Spanish guy took my photo on the crossing so I was well pleased. Really pleased I got to see this iconic place.Visited November 2024Traveled soloWritten December 5, 2024
- Vanessa MMougins, France219 contributionsSympaFor Beatles fans it's a must. Be careful to take the picture it is a street with quite a lot of car passage. We waited in line a bit but it was pretty fast. There is a shop right next to the Studio which is very nice but the prices are high (ex 40€ a snow globe)Visited December 2024Traveled with familyWritten December 31, 2024
- Indah EdlightzOntario, Canada4,292 contributionsBusy area, lots of local trafficAbsolute must visit if you are a music fan or Beetles fan or just history fan.. But this is a live street with lots of traffic and its not that easy to get your opportunity to get a picture in.. as there is always tons of tourists. Feel kind of bad for the locals as they navigate tourists standing in the middle of the street. Great spot to visit but please be considerate of locals and others trying to take photos. In the half hour we were there we saw few tourists "get into it" because one group would not leave the walkway to let others take photosVisited August 2024Traveled with familyWritten January 4, 2025

Made another trip to the scene of my favorite Beatles album but this time with my wife who this time took snap photos of me walking on the zebra crossing.
Really felt sorry for the drivers who had to deal with these crazy people 24/7, but really glad we did visit again.
Don't forget to visit the Abbey Road Studio Gift shop afterwards.

Abbey Road is made famous by the Beatles who recorded an album in the famous studio which happens to be located on Abbey Road. One wonders if they had recorded the album in a different location if then the album cover would have been different? This in turn would have returned Abbey Road to just another road in London.
Instead it has become a pilgrimage for music fans from all over the world. Many of whom want to walk across the famous crossing.
The 189 bus to Brent Cross Shopping Centre goes along Abbey Road and the St Johns Wood tube station is quite close by as well.
Certainly worth checking out if you are a music fan and in the area.

This place is drenched in atmosphere, thanks to the Beatles. They are also the reason that traffic is continually held up by people taking pics of themselves on the crossing outside the studio, which is fun to watch. The studios look very nice from the outside and the place is situated in a nice area, worth taking a look around.

Quite surreal seeing the road and crossing first-hand after seeing it on that famous album cover all these years!
We visited the road in the early afternoon and although there were a number of people on either side of the road, there was a lovely air of respect as people took their time taking photos, videos and posing on the crossing 'Beatles-style'. Drivers coming to the area seem to be very understanding of what takes place there on a daily basis and patiently wait whilst photos are taken but not all of them are so do expect some beeping of horns from one or two!
We stood at the wall outside the Abbey Road Studios for a few minutes and took in the history and messages left on the white walls, which I can only assume are painted over every so often as a lot were 'modernly' written. We then discovered the Abbey Road shop just to the right of the studios which is well worth a visit and full of memorabilia for The Beatles and other bands who are known for recording at the Abbey Road Studios. Expect to pay £7 for an Abbey Road road sign magnet though!

Despite jubilee line being closed which made our trip out more challenging we loved it . Took a while to get our shot replicating the famous walk but fun doing it . Most were there for the same reason so was entertaining to see the various attempts much to the annoyance of the traffic .

An iconic place - the studio and in front of it the famous transition from the album cover. A nice street, a place closed to the public, they must have been leaking data there, but you can see the recording studio over the fence. A pleasant walk from here around the park into town.

I thought I should definitely go there when I go to England, so I went.
It was a weekday, but there were quite a few people there.
I thought it was nice that a few cars were parked there waiting for me.
I liked the story of how there was a studio nearby, and they went out of there to take the photo for the jacket.

If you love music, rock and roll and The Beatles, you gotta be there!!!, it is near abbey road studios a place that record and played The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Jimmy Hendrix...among others
The nearest Underground Station to Abbey Road is St. John’s Wood. There is only one exit at this station.
There are lot of stores for souvenirs...
When you exit the tube station, you will be on the northeast corner of Finchley Road and Grove End Road. Head west on Grove End Road for approximately 500 meters and make a right turn onto Abbey Road.

We went there on a sunny Sunday morning at the end of March. The picturesque St John's Wood tube station is nearby. We had to wait a few minutes to grab our pictures and we enjoyed being part of the feel of Abbey Road. The recording studio is nearby. All in all a very enjoyable experience.

Nice placefor those Beatles fans to relive this historic crossing and not to mention FREE!
There is an on-site shop and an unofficial one 10 mins away.
Get off at St Johns Wood tube. Only 5-10 minute walk from there!
Must drive people crazy with tourists constantly stopping the traffic for pics…..oh well

Is there a better time of day to visit? I’ve read that it is a busy street. Is is less busy during the day or evenings? Or does it matter when you go? I’m looking forward to our visit...my husband doesn’t get It! But we’ll get our photo!
Written May 12, 2019
I'm afraid it's hit and miss. We went early/mid morning 9.30/10.00 am and it wasn't too bad. Can understand it will be busier at weekends and obviously in nicer weather. You'll enjoy the experience anyway.
Written May 15, 2019
Late morning is best. It is an active street so you don't want to go during busy times (Rush hour). Cars are very accommodating and will generally wait for you to get a photo, which is nice! But around 10/11AM would probably be best.

Suerte ¡¡¡¡

The nearest parking station is Kingsmill Terrace, St. Johns Wood. It is about a 7 minute walk from there to Abbey Road.

Saludos.

I'm an American and i apologize in advance for contributing to the traffic on Abbey Road! My husband and I are planning our dream vacation once our son graduates college next year. No doubt this will be on the agenda as we are planning at least a 10 day trip to London. I'm wondering how long my husband and I should put aside to visit this landmark,.

Hello
In my opinion an hour will be adequate to visit Abbey Road itself. However, there are places you may find of interest to visit in the vicinity and not too far away. There are pubs, restaurants and other eateries in St. John's Wood, Maida Vale etc; A bus will take you to Marble arch and the West end via Edgware road. Church street market is off the Edgware road. It is a busy market and an interesting experience. However, a visit to Camden passage or Portobello market, on another day, may prove more fruitful. Little Venice and Rembrandt gardens are a good place to visit. Take a bus from Abbey road to the top of the Regents Park canal, before Edgware road, and walk down to the bottom; alternatively a tube to Warwick avenue will take you there. There are restaurants in this area and in Maida Vale. There is a taxi rank in Warwick avenue, between the gardens and the tube station. The Cab Hut at the rank is a grade 11 listed building.

I hear that soon people will have to pay £1 to use the crossing i.e toll. This will be used to pay for a traffic island so tourist can safety take photos without getting run over.
Written March 18, 2016
I have not heard anything about charging to cross the road. I don't see how it would make it any safer from traffic.

Hola, quisiera saber si el hotel cuenta con servicio de transfer (traslado) hacia el aeropuerto. Y cuál sería su valor para 5 personas. Gracias!
Hello, I need to know if the hotel has transfer service to de airport, and how much it cost for 5 persons. Thank You!!!

Lilia.. Todo depende del Hotel.. (Lugar.. Estrellas..etc).. App 200£-300£.... Depende de numero de * .. Ubicacion y nunero de cuartos...un abrazo. Mauro
