The area
Neighborhood: Notting Hill
As West London's friskiest corner, Notting Hill more than manages to retain plenty of the same appeal that's brought the affluent area so much worldwide attention. In this attractive cobblestoned neighborhood, a delectable variety of eateries, independent shops, galleries and street vendors offer a delightful window into how to live the good life in London, with each presenting visitors with an experience that's a little more idiosyncratic and endearing than the last. Travelers looking to forage for antiques should be sure to visit the Portobello Road Market on Saturdays, the largest antiques market in the United Kingdom.
How to get there
- Notting Hill Gate • 9 min walk
- Bayswater • 9 min walk

While visiting Notting Hill, we took a stroll along Westbourne Grove. We had heard that this was one of the "happening" places in this part of London.
This may well be the case in the evenings but during the daytime it was very quiet. We looked at a few over-priced specialty shops and passed by several swish restaurants and cafes.
However, there really was not a lot here which excited us. We preferred other parts of Notting Hill!

Westbourne Grove is one of the coolest places in London – the road has some of the best restaurants in London, and it also has some of the best independent shops to buy clothes from. One of the best part about Westbourne Grove is that it is not very touristy, so it ends up becoming quite a nice and pleasant walk without being intimidating. I really enjoyed my walk here (which I do almost everyday now!)

A lovely area, where you have plenty of choice of foods to eat. Close to Hyde park and Queensway

My Family and I rented the cool Westbourne grove II apartment for a week
We showed up early and the magic rental folks showed up early which was nice
The apartment is roomy but that is where the benefit ends. The pictures represented this incorrectly. We had mold in the bathroom shower, the paint flaked on the ceiling. The furniture was ridiculously worn and falling apart. The stove liner was falling off, the floorboards were popping up. While the rental agency attempted to fix some things, my request to move was not even responded to. Would not stay here again and would not recommend it.

My wife and I decided to try this new Italian restaurant in Notting Hill.
Basically, the service was terrible. We had to ask for water after 10 minutes at the table. It took a further 10 minutes for 2 glasses of Pinot Grigio to arrive.and then bread. Ordered a buffula mozzarella & tomatoe salad which was ok. My main course- risotto. This was like rice pudding. Super watery and no taste! I’ve lived in Bologna, a gastronomic region, so Inknow a little about good Italian food .My wife had the pasta with sword fish. The fish was not fresh, and the pasta ‘chewy’.
There was no attention to our table. The sad thing the owner was sat on the corner table watching everyone. I really couldn’t see why he was there, until his friends arrived, and he greeted them warmly, then gave them his table.
Two types of service really. We have lived in the area well over ten years and love to ‘go local’, but this is one place we will not try again. It’s a shame as this site has been various restaurants over the years, and we were really hoping it would be fabulous. Well it wasn’t for us.
Finally, I received my bill before coffee, and it seemed like they wanted the table. No thank you or goodbye!
No value for money.

Booked seven nights based on the reviews posted, big mistake. No mention of the 62 steps to reach this very dated apartment. Very noisy, construction taking place nearby, restaurant below which meant very smelly, the only saving grace was the great location. No way 5/5 as spruked on their website.

If you are staying nearby - there are a multitude of good, not great, reasonable ethnic restaurants on this street, including some chains like Masala Zone, Ping Pong and many independent restos as well. Nice to know if you need a place to eat close to hotels in Bayswater area.

Awful customer service.
Ordered coffee and scone.
One employee at counter slouching and almost whole hand in his mouth biting his nails.Off putting.
Asked for coffee in takeaway cup got normal cup.Scone coffee jam cream put on counter top.Had to ask for a tray. Then had to ask for a knife and napkin.Asked for a receipt but not given.
Awful.Seemed to spend most of time socialising with each other front of counter
Girl server running her hands through her hair constantly

Westbourne Grove has fast become a very trendy and lively area. Offering wonderful restaurants, bars, clubs and entertainment venues, it is also a residential and shopping area. The Ledbury, arguably the number 1 restaurant in London is in this area. Well worth visiting. Easily reached on the tube via Westbourne Grove station.
