Address
Neighborhood: Notting Hill
As West London's friskiest corner, Notting Hill more than manages to retain plenty of the same appeal that's brought the affluent area so much worldwide attention. In this attractive cobblestoned neighborhood, a delectable variety of eateries, independent shops, galleries and street vendors offer a delightful window into how to live the good life in London, with each presenting visitors with an experience that's a little more idiosyncratic and endearing than the last. Travelers looking to forage for antiques should be sure to visit the Portobello Road Market on Saturdays, the largest antiques market in the United Kingdom.

Super night with great food and atmosphere
Oct 2021 • Friends
A whole crowd of us from with had a celebration here this week, we were seton a long table in the conservatory, 16 of us! We had chosen food beforehand to expedite the process but of course people changed their minds🤣🤣. The salt fish fritters, goat curry and the escovitch sea bass and jerk chicken were amazing. The staff were fabulous patient and calm and the whole vibe great fun.

Great arts venue.
Mar 2020
This great venue has historical connections with Notting Hill and its famed carnival. We went to a swing dancing night and enjoyed the ‘big band’ and the dancing plus the great atmosphere in the place which hosts concerts, art shows, and many other art forms. There is an onsite bar and one can get light refreshments. There is good access although if you want to go upstairs to the gallery level not sure about that if you could not manage stairs. Altogether a really good setting, well designed for its purpose and having a nice buzz amongst all the patrons and staff.

Breakfast

Gorgeous tasty and filling breakfast sandwich this morning. Thoroughly recommend 😂. I substituted the prosciutto with smoke salmon and it wasn’t a problem.

Multi-purpose venue with a Caribbean flavour
Jan 2020 • Solo
This is carnival land in the northernmost limits of Notting Hill so it’s not surprising anything called Tabernacle if no longer dedicated to the religion of a God support the religions of music and dancing. Downstairs a lively bar serving Caribbean cuisine. To the side a dedicated storage space for a percussion kit. Behind corridors festooned with posters Snd photos lead past a small gallery space whose walls were today empty presumably between exhibitions. Upstairs a large hall for meetings and concerts. A rainy day was perhaps not the best fit a visit as it was necessary to jump over large puddles to get past the front entrance.

Getting better
Aug 2019
The Tabernacle is a kind of an institution of the area. Although only scoring 3 stars from myself; it has a lot of amenities which I have not used and does put on some great performances.
The Tabernacle is a fantastic building which from the outside looks like a big church with a big patio courtyard with the fronting a spectacular wrought iron fencing. It seats approximately 50-60 people outside and is a great hideaway in the summer
Moving inside, it is very spacious with a lot of seating, a bar and restaurant. Around the building including upstairs are various rooms to include a theatre
The fabrication of the building needs a bit of love, seating is old and toilets have sometimes got a seat on them, with tiles missing from the wall and paint peeling

The food is good, if they have it in stock. But you may need to wait up to 45 minutes maybe an hour for your food to arrive, and they may get the right order, but that is pot luck
The service is friendly and as I say in the title, the current staff are making the experience better all the time
Is it worth a visit? Most definitely, but do not expect a 5 star service from a 5 star building

Woefully inadequate toilet facilities
Jul 2019 • Family
I came with my daughter, for a birthday treat, to see the Yorkshire Shepardess. The bar staff were slow and ignored us until we were the only ones left. The toilet facilities were appalling. Upstairs one locked one not flushing. Downstairs no loo paper. At £25 a ticket I don't expect to be scrabbling around for tissues!!!

In need of a refurb
Mar 2019 • Couples
The auditorium where we saw the recording of a BBC radio show was shabby and smelled of damp. The toilets were in a poor state of cleanliness at the time of our visit. The actual venue is a community hub where locals come to enjoy food and drink and socialise and that seemed to be vibrant and well liked by the people in there. The building is an impressive (from the outside) 19th century ex-church and worth seeing if in the area.

Interesting place
May 2019 • Friends
Went to recording of BBC show with Marian Keyes the author. She is very entertaining, it was a good show. Look forward to hearing it on BBC radio 4.
As we were early, we ordered food and a drink. The service was poor and food took a long time to arrive. My meal was ok, at least I could eat most of it. But my daughter’s vegetarian option was not good, cooked in too much oil.
Mini art gallery was interesting, and it was a nice building.

Great food and fab service
May 2019 • Friends
I recently visited The Tebernacle and couldn't be happier with my experience. Me and my friends all had different dishes and every plate was a delight on the pallet.
Our host Amena was warm, welcoming and super helpful. A few of my lad friends definitely took a liking to her.
The venue itself is fun and good and fresh. A great place to take a few piks for the gram and make a few memories with loved ones :)

Stay away if you have a Serious Allergy
Mar 2019 • Family
We came here on Mother's Day and my wife explained very clearly, her serious life threatening allergies, repeated them and the waiter wrote them down and brought out the allergy sheet. No coconut. My wife ate one spoonful and immediately had a reaction, itching, hives, heat. There was coconut in her food. She complained to another waiter and to the chef and they confirmed that there was coconut. I complained to the Manager who laughed it off like it wasn't a big deal and he didn't charge us for that dish and refunded us £4. Our night was ruined. We had to go straight home and my wife got worse and had to take medicine. Night ruined. This is not a joke. People can die.
