Far beneath the majesty and splendor of the Paris Opera House, hides the Phantom in a shadowy existence. Shamed by his physical appearance and feared by all, the love he holds for his beautiful protegee Christine Daae is so strong that even her heart cannot resist.

The musical opened at Her Majesty's Theatre on 9 October 1986 with Michael Crawford and Sarah Brightman in the leading roles, and there have been dozens of productions worldwide since then. Now in its 26th record-breaking year, The Phantom of the Opera continues to captivate audiences at Her Majesty's Theatre in London's West End, after more than 10,000 performances.

Andrew Lloyd Webber's mesmerizing score along with jaw-dropping scenery and breathtaking special effects, magically combine to bring this tragic love story to life each night.

Her Majesty's Theatre is beautiful and the Phantom is a must see in London! Royal circle front row seats were very comfortable over the stall seats but I think the performance viewing is better from center stalls near the stage if you are a true phan..

Still in my opinion the best musical on the Westend! I have seen it three times and the quality of the show remains incredibly high. Very traditional London theatre and a great theatre experience! You will be humming the songs for weeks!

It's in an easy location to find, the experience of seeing such a musical live is just amazing. If you have seen the movie I would say you have to see it in the theatre as well, to give you a proper experience of why people enjoy seeing the show live.

Brilliantly staged with believable special effects. The now familiar songs were well performed. Beware the chandelier!!

Could not fault this theatre or the show. We had superb seats. The gentleman that was selling ice creams and showing people to their seats had a great sense of humour . Seats were comfortable nice to see a clean theatre for a change. Even the guy selling the souvenirs was helpful. Thank you team keep up the good work

If you visit London i can only recommand you to visit a Theatre. We decide do choose the Phantom of Opera and it was a good choice as we both enjoy the show. Even if we book a long time in advance we only managed to get a seat in the high part of the theatre thats not the best... More

It was very good in parts. Having seen this before I didnt think the theatre was very large for the set, could have had more and there was no-one famous in it either, a name does make a difference. The play was enjoyable but nothing where I came out and said wow that was extra special. But if you've never... More

This show is just out of this world. The staging is absolutely amazing, the cast excellent and all their voices were stunning, would watch again and again!

Staying in St. James's

Neighborhood Profile
St. James's
Perennially fashionable since the days of Henry VIII, the aristocratic “Clubland” of St James's is a premier destination for high end craft and bespoke design. Here you’ll lose count of the Royal Warrants (which indicate that the Royal Family patronizes the establishment) seen in shop front windows, even during a short stroll to bordering Green Park or St James’s Park. With the brightly lit and constantly buzzing junction of Piccadilly Circus at its northeast corner and none of Central London too far away, this is an surprisingly central and accessible part of town, especially given its prosperous demeanor.
