Far beneath the majesty and splendor of the Paris Opera House, hides the Phantom in a shadowy existence. Shamed by his physical appearance and feared by all, the love he holds for his beautiful protegee Christine Daae is so strong that even her heart cannot resist.

The musical opened at Her Majesty's Theatre on 9 October 1986 with Michael Crawford and Sarah Brightman in the leading roles, and there have been dozens of productions worldwide since then. Now in its 26th record-breaking year, The Phantom of the Opera continues to captivate audiences at Her Majesty's Theatre in London's West End, after more than 10,000 performances.

Andrew Lloyd Webber's mesmerizing score along with jaw-dropping scenery and breathtaking special effects, magically combine to bring this tragic love story to life each night.

Firstly: the theatre itself is lovely but the seats are very cramped together, also no photos are allowed inside at all. On to the review: I like musicals, I'm not a massive fan but everything i've seen in the west end i've loved. During the opening few minutes when the music first kicked in it gave me goosebumps. It's hard... More

We received theatre tokens as a Christmas present and were both hugely excited to see Phantom again, almost 20 years after we lasts visited. We weren't to be disappointed. Firstly the staging and set design is phenomenal! If you take the time to look, the details in every single scene are so well thought out. The orchestra were wonderful. Someone... More

I have been playing the music from Phantom for years but it did not prepare me to be SO moved by the experience of seeing the show. It actually moved me to tears. A huge well done to all the cast and people involved in putting on such a wonderful performance. If your in London go see it.

An excellent show to see in the West End. The music is beautiful, and the theatre is the perfect size. I have nothing bad to say about the show itself--one of the best I've ever seen! The only negative part of our experience was the inappropriate behavior of some audience members. Please don't talk during the show, don't take pictures,... More

Took my 24yo daughter for her birthday, she has always loved this since the first time she saw the movie. It was everything I remembered (with the exception of Michael Crawford and Sarah Brightman), only better! We had fabulous seats in the Royal Circle with fantastic views, especially for when the chandelier moves. Here's hoping to get back to seeing... More

I saw this show last summer while on a flying visit to London. It was an incredible experience seeing Ben Forster take on the Phantom with all the passion and the pathos the role demands. The costumes, the stage setting and the music were all terrific. As others have commented, be careful in choosing your seats though. Cheaper tickets may... More

We have seen Phanton countless times, hence why we keep going back, but sadly this one wasn't a good performance by far. The role of Phantom and Raoul were brilliant with a standing ovation as you would expect, but the role Christine was worst one ever. She clearly had difficulty hitting some of the notes and crucified some of the... More

Almost everyone is familiar with the Phantom of the Opera and this production is outstanding. The costumes and the stage design is wonderful. This can be seen from all the rave reviews here on tripadvisor. IF you have the budget, PLEASE CHOOSE seats that are close to the stage or on the balcony. We were only able to get tickets... More

We had stalls seats at the top price, which was a bit of a bank ouchie when I first bought the tickets, but after seeing it (and even months on) it was so worth it, and I would buy the same tickets again in a flash if I went again - which is quite possible. We had seats E6 and... More

My wife and I saw this production in the summer of 2016. The show was magnificent. The costumes, the actors, the singing, the props, the lights, the theatre, the overall atmosphere was exactly what we thought we were going to get out of this world renowned show. The theatre is centrally located and easy to get to. The tickets were... More

Staying in St. James's

Neighborhood Profile
St. James's
Perennially fashionable since the days of Henry VIII, the aristocratic “Clubland” of St James's is a premier destination for high end craft and bespoke design. Here you’ll lose count of the Royal Warrants (which indicate that the Royal Family patronizes the establishment) seen in shop front windows, even during a short stroll to bordering Green Park or St James’s Park. With the brightly lit and constantly buzzing junction of Piccadilly Circus at its northeast corner and none of Central London too far away, this is an surprisingly central and accessible part of town, especially given its prosperous demeanor.
