Nice old bridge
Nov 2019 • Couples
Not the best for sure but a nice old bridge crossing the Thames. Prefer Tower Bridge but this is a nice historic one.

It is only a bridge and nothing exiting to go out of your way. There are some eateries in the area in a covered food market which have a variety of food.

Old Battersea Bridge
Apr 2019 • Solo
I came across this bridge while crossing from Chelsea to get to Battersea Park. One of the first things I noticed was statue at the Chelsea end of the Bridge. It was a statue of James McNeill Whistler, the American artist known primarily for his portraiture, who also painted Nocturne: Blue and Gold – Old Battersea Bridge. So it felt like a nice connection.

Otherwise, the bridge isn't particularly notable except that as it's in Chelsea, the area is not as densely populated as other Thames crossings and there's nice views of the river especially of Albert Bridge to the east. There's also great views of the Albion Riverside building designed by Foster and Partners.

Nicely refurbished but still a chronic traffic bottleneck
May 2017 • Solo
It's quite a shock to see romantic oil paintings of Battersea Bridge by the likes of Whistler showing a tall metal structure very different from the lower more functional existing structure built towards the end of the last century. It's been nicely refurbished and painted. Best of all it has restored elegant lighting not dissimilar in design from the oil lamps it sported shortly after it opened. Unfortunately it's difficult to appreciate the bridge itself for the sheer weight of traffic at peak times weekdays and for much of the weekends.

Arch bridge
Apr 2017 • Family
This is an arch bridge across the River Thames linking Battersea with Chelsea. It is situated at a sharp bend on the river and has been the subject of numerous collisions through the years.

Rustic Bridge
Jun 2016 • Couples
Battersea bridge is 125 years old. The wrought-iron and steel cantilever bridge has five segmental spans. With two footpaths, the bridge has a total width of 55 ft. The Arch work of Battersea bridge is great and intricate detailed.

Very convenient position
Aug 2016 • Friends
The old wooden bridge was opened in 1771, it was dangerous to the ships and unpopular among its users, but it was the subject of many paintings made by prestigious artists. The new bridge was constructed in 1890, it has five arches with cast iron grinders that rests on granite piers with concrete foundations. It is a very convenient way to cross the river Thames at its sharp bend between Chelsea and Battersea.

Battersea and Chelsea meets.
May 2015 • Solo
Battersea Bridge is a functional bridge which allows traffic and pedestrians to move from one side to the other. It is good if you want to walk to the Kings Road, Chelsea or go to Battersea Park.
