The area
Neighborhood: Mayfair
Set beside some of London's best parks and home to world-class galleries, luxurious hotels, and famed thoroughfares, the ultra upscale Mayfair is one of London's most exclusive haunts. Here the shopping is haute, the dining is exquisite, and the nightlife is vibrant. A casual stroll through the area’s chic streets will reveal that Michelin stars and chauffeured cars are practically the norm here. Even if you're on a tight budget, this exceptionally well connected swath of Central London is worth exploring, if only for the chance to take a peak at the goings on of upper crust English society.

For those of you familiar with the traditional UK Monopoly board you will know that Park Lane is one of the the most expensive pieces on the board. In reality it is true as well.
Park Lane runs from Marble Arch South towards Hyde Park Corner. As you head down the road you have Hyde Park on one side and magnificent buildings on your left. There are some posh hotels and amazing buildings for you to enjoy.
If you don't feel up to walking there are buses running along the road as well.

The Hilton Park Lane is honestly amazing. I did leave my belongings in my hotel room and Danny and John (at concierge and reception) are honestly incredible, they provided such great customer service. I would highly, highly recommend staying here - they have such lovely and friendly staff. I cannot thank the team enough!

I just returned from a two night stay at the Sheraton Park Lane hotel. I must agree with those who say that this hotel is certainly not worthy of a 5 star rating. At best it is only 3 stars. The location is ideal, but the hotel itself is dated and the carpet in both of the rooms I reserved were worn and dirty. For the first room, despite using a 50% off certificate from Sheraton, the cost per night was still $278 per night. To think that the room was over $550 without the cert is nothing short of robbery.
We were completely underwhelmed by the hotel and would never consider staying there again unless we were using points for a free night or two.

I stayed at the Park Lane mid January 2008 for 6 nights. It is an old hotel - in the grand manner of old British Hotels which means everything works - sort of. The room was clean, the mattress hard, the pillows wierdly soft and the bathroom so old fashioned - I thought there might be an outhouse attached; however, everything worked except for several days we had warm water out of the cold faucet. There was hot water from the hot faucet so there really isn't much to complain about.
The hotel is well located, and quiet. I thought the carpets through out were fine. Is it a 5 star hotel - not in the fashion of an ultra modern 5 star with a plasma large screen TV etc but in the manner of old hotels, it is at least 4 star.

My partner and I were waiting for our coach and wanted somewhere to sit, lovely area. Beautiful statues and pleasant, peaceful place to watch the world go by.
Free to enter and sit, close to the underground and lots of buses, local to shops.
N.B. lots of wasps this time of year🐝

Was staying at the intercontinental and took a gander in this area. Several other hotels are here - four seasons, como, hilton. Nice posh area that is a 15 minute walk to harrods, fortnum & mason, hyde park

Back in the 70's this road did have a very luxurious feel to it. Now it most certainly does not.
For anyone coming here first time, considering this is one of the most expensive places to buy on the famous Monopoly game, this must be a real disappointment.
It's very grey and dirty looking in many places, the numerous hotels look shamefully dirty and scruffy.
Why the hotels aren't doing more to look more like a high end place I don't understand, considering the sky high prices they charge, they most certainly should do so.
The park side looks ok but nothing special.
Seems the businesses with so much money would rather put it in their offshore bank accounts than spend any of it, shame on them all.

Not impressed by Park Lane. I stayed on Park Lane near the corner of Oxford at the Marriott (which is certainly a convenient location) but the road itself is really not impressive at all. A busy road with plenty of traffic, a nice park on one side (Green Park), and a bunch of car dealerships. The real appeal of Mayfair lies on the quieter and smaller streets and not the major thoroughfares.

Stayed here for a few nights in 2007. Agree with the other reviewer who stated it's a 3 star hotel at 5 star prices. Staff was constantly fishing for tips. Room furnishing was very dated. Carpetting has that "old" odour. Things work in the hotel, but it was overdue for a renovation. Location (about 300m from Buckingham Palace) was excellent though.

Park Lane is more of an address than a place to visit ....... it is a long avenue that runs opposite Hyde Park ...... so use it to get to the Park and experience how wealthy some folk are ...... it is nice and shady and very green ...... but no need to make a special trip to see it ...... stick to Hyde Park
