About
Open 7 days a week, it is the perfect antidote to the high street. We bring together small producers with local creatives and artisans, original independent retailers and a few well-known brands under one historic roof. Our daily market is home to a selection of carefully chosen traders, craftsmen, artists and artisans alike, picked for the quality of their product, and the stories they have to tell. We are interested in how things are designed, the creative process and the interesting people who produce the products you’ll find here. We champion quality and responsibly sourced products and we assess each operator individually on this basis. In the centre of the market floor you will find our ten fully fitted kitchens where we showcase exceptional contemporary and authentic cooking. We are proud to offer new levels of quality and variety in the dishes prepared by our chefs and operators, many of whom have already established great

Neighborhood: Spitalfields
For a glimpse of Georgian and Victorian London at its most pristine, or a peek into what's apt to be the next big global trend, the hipster zone of Spitalfields can provide hours of amazement. Around the clock, this is a haven for early morning bargain hunters sizing up its street markets, foodie foragers throughout the day, or late night revelers hitting some of London's most popular bars and clubs.

Wedged between the business-minded City of London, expressly trendy Shoreditch, and zestful Whitechapel, the lines between traditional and contemporary beautifully blur in this historic East End nexus.

The Spitalfields Market has a little something for everyone. We enjoyed just wandering around and my wife found some excellent items. It's worth you time to explore widely before purchasing because we found some significant price differences on similar items from different stalls. It was raining for much of the day and this market was a nice way to feel as if your are outdoors while staying dry!

I agree with those who enjoyed their visit here. There were dozens of shops and restaurants to explore with my friends and we recommend it highly. I'd been here a couple of times before and keep coming back to see what has changed. It is easy to spend several hours here looking at all the various stalls and trying to decide what to eat.

This wasn’t high on my list due to a very short stay in London, but it ended up being one of my favorite places! There are so many stalls with unique, items-clothes, jewelry, artwork, etc-from local artists. Most things were handmade as well. There were plenty of options for food/drink with both sit down places and takeaway food trucks. Free wifi as well!

I lived near Spitalfields Market from 2005-06. Back then shoppers could find bargains and patronize stands hosted by real artisans. Unfortunately, Spitalfields Market has gentrified as did the rest of Shoreditch. Visit if you're in the area and need a quick, expensive bite. Don't visit Spitalfields Market shopping for bargains. You won't find any. I recommend visiting the nearby Brick Lane Market on Sundays instead.

We came here on the morning of our last day in London and it was according to the internet supposed to be open from early morning. We arrived on the tube just after 10am and there were basically just a couple of stalls only just setting up. It is a very big place so I dont know did we just pick wrong day or time but according to the internet it was supposed to be up and running and be busy by 10am on a Monday but sadly not so it was a waste of time going there. Shame

The Hat Man at Old Spitalfields Market is that rare find anywhere in the world - superior products at excellent prices sold by a most delightful character who may have walked out of a production of “Oliver.” One day we purchased one hat and liked it so well returned the next to purchase another in a different color. Both traveled back to San Francisco in perfect shape. The hats are promised to stand up to rainy weather, too. The Har Man is at the market holding court six days a week. The entire market is a delight - abundant food vendors and some very high quality merchants. The Hat Man is certainly at the top of the list.

I tried a desert place called Humble Crumble. It definitely should be called that. Humble. It was not nice at all. Also very pricey for a desert so disappointing. It was watery and tasted like double cream with sprinkled sugar on top.

Well worth an explore, an interesting mix of artisan stalls, exclusive shops and boutiques, a good range of tempting street food outlets and restaurants. We visited on a Saturday morning and found it bustling but definitely not overcrowded. Something to interest most people.

The teenager liked browsing through the stalls. They have a mix of regular clothing stalls, inexpensive jewelry, and some handcrafted souvenier type items. Lots of different and interesting food stalls here as well. Throw in several brick and mortar shops and restaurants and it’s a pleasant afternoon for a shopper.

Now is a great time to go to Spitalfields because the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust elephant sculptures (20 babies and one matriarch) are there. Other sculptures are there as well, but the eles are the best and definitely make Spitalfields worth a visit. There are also food trucks and other restos, and plenty of booths set up for holiday shopping.
