About
Open 7 days a week, it is the perfect antidote to the high street. We bring together small producers with local creatives and artisans, original independent retailers and a few well-known brands under one historic roof. Our daily market is home to a selection of carefully chosen traders, craftsmen, artists and artisans alike, picked for the quality of their product, and the stories they have to tell. We are interested in how things are designed, the creative process and the interesting people who produce the products you’ll find here. We champion quality and responsibly sourced products and we assess each operator individually on this basis. In the centre of the market floor you will find our ten fully fitted kitchens where we showcase exceptional contemporary and authentic cooking. We are proud to offer new levels of quality and variety in the dishes prepared by our chefs and operators, many of whom have already established great

Neighborhood: Spitalfields
For a glimpse of Georgian and Victorian London at its most pristine, or a peek into what's apt to be the next big global trend, the hipster zone of Spitalfields can provide hours of amazement. Around the clock, this is a haven for early morning bargain hunters sizing up its street markets, foodie foragers throughout the day, or late night revelers hitting some of London's most popular bars and clubs.

Wedged between the business-minded City of London, expressly trendy Shoreditch, and zestful Whitechapel, the lines between traditional and contemporary beautifully blur in this historic East End nexus.

    Fun place to explore
This was a lively spot and we enjoyed shopping the stalls. We bought a silk robe made from a repurposed sari; a crochet sweater; and a large shawl/wrap. We enjoyed our pad thai from one of the food stalls.

    Great area to explore
Spitalfields and Shoreditch is a very nice areas of London. The indoor market, although has a long history of being a fruit and vegetable market, is now full of restaurants and funky shops. The area around the market is worth exploring with graffiti art and old alleyways and pubs worth exploring. We went to the market on a weekday, but the time to go is on Sunday when the market is in full swing.

Lovely friendly gift and craft market.
Varied stalls in a pleasant setting ( covered ). Good use of the old Spitalfields site, now occupied by craft and qwerty items, stall holders selling Jewellery, Handbags, Clothing, Scarves and much more . Lots of food on offer , street food and cafes . Nice atmosphere , friendly stall holders, pleasant hour or so browsing.

Vibrant wonderful covered market eateries galore
Loved the many unique clothes and crafts available here. Enjoyed Mr Bombay’s vegan boxes of dhal, basmati rice and onion bhajis (comes with a samosa and bhaji but I requested 2 bhajis instead) for only £9. Loads of other fish and meat options too. Tables nearby to rest on or benches if seating needed. Adjacent are good Chinese and pasta food vans inside the market so no worries if it’s raining. Lots of other nice places to eat and drink too. Close to Liverpool St station, Petticoat lane Market and the Truman brewery currently showing an amazing Dali exhibition with virtual reality and 3D experiences. Love this place whatever the weather!

    Worth a Visit!
Love this place! The stalls, the food, the amazing smells, and the people. It's definitely worth a visit. Went with my cousins and shared and tried loads of different foods, and bought a few bits. Great London find!

    Hustle Bustle!
There has been a market here since reign of King Charles II in the 1600’s. Before that there was a medieval Augustinian Priory of St Mary Spital. This gave Spitalfields its name. The current building was built during the rule of Queen Victoria, in 1887. It is a beautiful, red and white building of low height. Initially it was a fresh produce market selling fish, fowl, eggs, fresh fruits and vegetables. Now it is filled with tantalising stalls. You can find lovely food from all over the world. There are Mexican, Middle Eastern, Indian, Thai, Chinese, Brazilian, Spanish foods here. There are also some unique handmade clothing and tidbits stalls here. You can see some interesting statues around this crowded market.

    Great Time
We came here after Burroughs Market, which was altogether too crowded to be enjoyable. We spent several hours here and enjoyed looking at the different booths. Lots of unique items rather than mass produced and marketed things. The food options here were much more varied and interesting than Burroughs. Lots of different ethnic choices in the stalls with lots of seating as well as established restaurants. And there is a central public restroom, which was very adequate for the crowds.

    A fabulous market
We came across this market when we were on The Jack The Ripper tour. We saw some gorgeous dresses in the window of a shop called Collectif. We came back the day later and loved the full experience of the market, it had quirky stalls. There was a wide variety of stalls where you could buy lovely gifts. The Collectif shop was amazing, the shop assistant was brilliant, she was really helpful and made sure we had clothes of the correct sizes and suggested styles to suit myself and my daughter.

    great solo trip
I went to Old Spitalfields Market to try the £5 pizza from Sud Italia. The pizza was really good. It was prepared in front of me which made the experience better. When I was at the market I saw a lot of stools that I would like to visit in the future. Most food stools had something affordable on the menu. I strongly recommend visiting Old Spitalfields Market in the summer.

I lived near Spitalfields Market from 2005-06. Back then shoppers could find bargains and patronize stands hosted by real artisans. Unfortunately, Spitalfields Market has gentrified as did the rest of Shoreditch. Visit if you're in the area and need a quick, expensive bite. Don't visit Spitalfields Market shopping for bargains. You won't find any. I recommend visiting the nearby Brick Lane Market on Sundays instead.

We had a look at the hand made crafts and clothes exhibited at the market; some of them were really beautiful and cozy, but the prices i think are a bit high.
I liked the silver but wasn’t sure of its quality so i preferred not to risk.
The surroundings were a good plenty of shops & cafes.
Well, it was a nice visit, yet i still regret the time wasted coz i had the choice to visit another market.

Now is a great time to go to Spitalfields because the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust elephant sculptures (20 babies and one matriarch) are there. Other sculptures are there as well, but the eles are the best and definitely make Spitalfields worth a visit. There are also food trucks and other restos, and plenty of booths set up for holiday shopping.

I was pleasantly surprised how well kept, how big and the variety of stalls this market had to offer. It’s a short walk from Liverpool Street Station. Inside there’s multiple food stalls, ranging from Italian, Indian, Chinese and Mexican. As well as stalls selling a variety of clothing, jewellery and souvenirs. They also have toilets and an array of restaurant available. The prices are standard for London and what you’d expect to pay in a popular market in a Capital city.
Sitting inside the market itself was hard to come by, especially with how busy it was. So I’d suggest, if you’re planning on eating to walk outside the market and use some of the surrounding benches/tables instead as it’s quieter and you’re almost guaranteed a seat.
Overall, would recommend visiting if you’re a big foodie like me, I definitely rate in my top three markets in London along with Borough Market and Camden Market.

Five of us visited were there four a couple of hours on a wet Saturday. We met up for coffee and brunch before all going off to find things to buy - jewellery, prints, cards etc among the stalls. We finished up with a drink in the garden tavern before heading off for lunch at the nearby Sofiga Bologna

I agree with those who enjoyed their visit here. There were dozens of shops and restaurants to explore with my friends and we recommend it highly. I'd been here a couple of times before and keep coming back to see what has changed. It is easy to spend several hours here looking at all the various stalls and trying to decide what to eat.

We came here on the morning of our last day in London and it was according to the internet supposed to be open from early morning. We arrived on the tube just after 10am and there were basically just a couple of stalls only just setting up. It is a very big place so I dont know did we just pick wrong day or time but according to the internet it was supposed to be up and running and be busy by 10am on a Monday but sadly not so it was a waste of time going there. Shame

Well worth an explore, an interesting mix of artisan stalls, exclusive shops and boutiques, a good range of tempting street food outlets and restaurants. We visited on a Saturday morning and found it bustling but definitely not overcrowded. Something to interest most people.
