We've been taking part in the monthly Mystery Chocolate online tastings that Jennifer Earle has been running over these past few months and can thoroughly recommend them! They are such fun to take part in and we have sampled some incredible chocolate from small producers all over the country who either make bean to bar chocolate or chocolate truffles. Each month Jen has an interesting special guest, the chocolate bars or truffles we sample are different each time, we learn fascinating things - and we can't praise these sessions highly enough! If you enjoy really good chocolate you will love trying all these different bars and chocolates.......and if you have yet to try some really good chocolate - then these are the sessions for you!

My daughter bought this tour for me to celebrate my 50th birthday. Our tour leader was Natasha. We started in Hotel Chocolat with a delicious hot chocolate drink with mousse on top, a birthday brownie and she talked us through a history of chocolate. We tried several different chocolates as well, including the very tasty caramelised white chocolate. Definitely going to buy some of that! (We could have bought some while we were there, with a discount, but I wanted to see what else we'd have an opportunity to buy which I regret!)

Our next stop was William Curley's where we could try another hot chocolate (I went for the Mayan spiced one) and some of their chocolates.

We then went to the Queen's favourite chocolate shop Charbonnel et Walker, and tasted her favourite chocolates (violet and rose creams).

Unfortunately our last stop was closed due to a power cut so we had another walk to a different final stop, Carpo. Here we tried florentines and praline truffles.

Natasha filled us in with lots of interesting facts as we wandered around London, pointing out some lovely architecture as well. It was helpful that she gave us some water and also carried savoury snacks with her in case we needed a break from the sweetness.

We both enjoyed the tour and would recommend it to anyone who loves chocolate!

My husband and I booked the Chocolate Ecstasy tour on short notice, thanks to Jen asking the other participants if they would mind having two others on the tour. Thankfully, they did not, and Jen was completely gracious. So, it was four of us with Jen, and it was great fun. Jen was a wonderful host; she was incredibly knowledgeable about the chocolate making process, how to properly taste chocolate, and our London environs (primarily near Piccadilly- Regent Street-Mayfair). She also had great patience with our questions, was completely at-ease in conversation, and provided great recommendations. The routes that we took were also interesting and off the beaten track. As for the chocolates, we had so much chocolate! And, it was all delicious. By the end of the tour, we were all completely full, and we left with bags of chocolate to take away. Without revealing all of the stops, my favorite was probably the William Curley shop. But, they were all great. Even though it is more expensive than other food tours, of which I have done many in London, it was well worth the price. Along with the Celia Brooks Borough Market tour and Eating London’s East End tour, this was among the best.

I want to start by saying that Jen is a wonderful person, very welcoming, and knowledgeable of chocolate and london history whilst on the tour. We went to some wonderful places and did try a lot of new and fancy foods - Jen was very accommodating in combining a chocolate and ice cream tour for my birthday. We did have a shaky start as we were accidentally sent to the wrong starter location, easy tube ride back but would rather have not had the hassle especially as I was made to walk up the steps of Covent Garden station! The locations we visited were all great, but it would have been nice to not feel so rushed eating at them and nice to have felt as though we could stop to take pictures of london while walking between places - also an itinerary of where we were going could have been a sweet touch to have and momento to take away. My partners allergies were well accommodated for in most places as well. Whilst we did try lots of chocolate and were given a card of flavours chocolate can have, we weren’t specficallt walked through any tasting and so it felt more like an eating tour, which is absolutely fine but it was labelled as tasting and so the flavour card became redundant. We were advised on ways to use our different senses to begin with when eating chocolate but it could have been interesting to have learnt more from a chocolatier about the specific flavours that should be coming through etc. Overall it was a good experience, but with a few tweaks I think it could have been perfect. My favourite location was the custard ice cream and cookie café in Covent gardens.

Hi Libby, Thanks for taking the time to write so much detailed feedback! I am SO sorry again for sending you to the wrong place. I can't believe I did. I loved spending the time with you both. Thanks for the kind words. 😊 I’ll be sure to check in with future groups about taking photos along the way. That’s a really good suggestion. If I ever do another combined chocolate and ice cream tour I’ll have a think about how to balance the number of places visited with how much time we spend in each place. We went to quite a few more locations than we’d normally visit in a three hour tour so it makes sense that it felt rushed. I’m really sorry about that. I was so keen for you to try all the good things! It’s also a really great point about tasting notes. It has always been a big part of our tours, especially as - like me - all of the guides are judges in various food competitions. When I reflect on our tour it definitely wasn’t covered the way it usually is. I appreciate you making me aware of it. As a “tasting” tour that part really should be a given that people are interested in, and therefore covered in detail! Thanks again for taking the time. I’ll definitely take this feedback on board! Warmest wishes, Jen x

Super tour! 3.5 hours of chocolate filled fun. Our guide Natasha was very knowledgeable & informative, as well as highly entertaining. We got taken to some lovely chocolate shops (some of which I plan to visit again) & had a thoroughly relaxing wander round parts of London I didn’t know well. This formed part of my 40th birthday celebrations & I might have to go again for my 50th. Can’t recommend highly enough!

Wow! What more can I say. An amazing night walking round London, Natasha is so knowledgeable, I’ve learnt so much about London I didn’t know before, I’ve also seen more of London tonight in 4 hours than I’ve seen in 15 years of coming to London. Would definitely recommend it. Wear comfy shoes, and save room for all the chocolate you’ll be eating, will certainly do another one in the summer. Thank you Chocolate Tours

We booked this Mayfair Chocolate Ecstacy Tour in London on our recent vacation and this tour is a MUST DO! A walking tour of the top chocolatiers in London did not disappoint. Our guide was witty and knowledgable about every aspect of the chocolate making process. She guided us around London showing us seven total locations including the Queen's favorite chocolate shop where we got to sample her actual two favorite chocolate truffles. We did this tour early in the day, before lunch, and it is a total sugar and chocolate overload. You will try the best chocolates you can put in your mouth. Quit wasting time and book this tour.

This tour is awesome! You get to eat chocolate until you feel like you can't eat anymore! It's amazing!!! Plus, you get to tour Notting Hill which is equally as cool in its own right! The tour guide/owner of the touring company is super nice and very knowledgable about chocolate, coffee and the area! It was a ton of fun and in a small group it was fun to get to know everyone we were touring with!!! We would definitely recommend it!!

First ever experience of a chocolate tour, so we opted for the smaller Brighton one. Starting off with a proper hot chocolate, our guide Charli guided us through the history and making of chocolate while we were offered a taste of some proper chocolate. Charli was very enthousiastic and knowledgeable: I don't remember a question being asked that Charli didn't know the answer to. After that, every shop we visited, we received samples and had ample opportunity to eat, smell and enjoy the great thing that is chocolate. We ended the tour at Audrey's Chocolates: a few meters away from the entrance, you could already smell the chocolate and the shop experience did not let us down! Couldn't have imagined a better tour to chose as a starter.

We went straight from the airport to our chocolate tour and it was an awesome start to our London trip. Our guide, Sunny, was excellent! She was so knowledgeable and friendly. The chocolates were delicious, anything we couldn’t finish at each shop we were able to carry our and enjoy after the tour. We really enjoyed this tour and highly recommend that you explore the world of chocolate with Chocolate Ecstasy Tours!
