Neighborhood: Spitalfields
For a glimpse of Georgian and Victorian London at its most pristine, or a peek into what's apt to be the next big global trend, the hipster zone of Spitalfields can provide hours of amazement. Around the clock, this is a haven for early morning bargain hunters sizing up its street markets, foodie foragers throughout the day, or late night revelers hitting some of London's most popular bars and clubs.
Wedged between the business-minded City of London, expressly trendy Shoreditch, and zestful Whitechapel, the lines between traditional and contemporary beautifully blur in this historic East End nexus.

Paid almost £40 for a ticket to queue for each set for around 20 minutes and then get stared down if you look like you’re enjoying being on the set too much.
As you can imagine I’m a big friends fan but I left the event pretty upset and let down tbh. They sell far too many tickets, what happens is, you stand in queue for ages, go on the set and before you can even immerse yourself, the staff click your picture within 1 minute of you being there and move you on to the next area and the same thing goes on and on. A couple of staff were nice, most were rude and if you spent more than 30 seconds on set after staff click your pic then other visitors will also stare you down, it’s as if you didn’t pay £40 to be there. Patience also seems to not exist. Although their photo system is good, you don’t have time to take your own picture/selfie on your phone. The sets (especially Joey & Chandler’s) were pretty realistic, just a shame you dont have time to take it in. We were really hot and flustered by the end of it and didn’t really mind leaving. Honestly, unless you are going mid week early on in the day it’s not worth it.

What a shame! Friend Fest was advertised on Comedy Central throughout October, so the family and I thought it would be great to visit this attraction a week before Christmas to get in the festive mood, how wrong we was…
We arrived and COVID Pass checks where fast and fussy free, we climbed the stairs to be greeted by staff members and joined a queue for our set tour time.
We were asked if we had signed up to the photo opportunities QR Codes (professional photos to be sent to our email addresses) as staff could not take photos using our phones due to hand hygiene/COVID restrictions etc. That was fine with us as we weren’t too bothered about having our photos taken, so we politely declined.
We walked through to see Monica’s and Joey’s apartments. The sets were fine, basic details and ‘feel of the show’ were present but missing the quality. As a big Friends Fan, it left me a bit flat.
We were met by queues for photos but walked past as we weren’t too fussed.
Next set was Central Perk photo opportunity, again… fine but missing that realistic feel and immersion. We walked through to the next section, there was a small tea/coffee kiosk and a large screen playing friends clips. We had just had dinner before arriving so carried on walking through the venue.
Next were small sections of iconic friends scenes (heads stuck in door, Phoebe’s Christmas bell, holiday Armadillo etc) where you could take another photo.
Next was a platform of the ‘Monica and Ross NYE dance’ scene, again another photo opportunity.
As you can probably tell… this was the entire experience… photo opportunity manned by staff followed by another photo opportunity followed by guess what?… Another photo opportunity. As a small family with a genuine interest in behind the scenes and set design this was not the attraction for us!
There were food stalls and a cocktail bar with ‘Friends Themed’ food and drink which looked passable but not for us. Lastly, the gift shop was expensive and lacking any imagination. We were there a total of 45 mins, most of the time saying “is this it?”. We paid approx £30 PP and felt it was not value for money. This attraction is purely made for Instagram users. It is a real shame as it was advertised as ‘Central Perk in the snow and a iconic friend experience and much much more’ - if we had known it was purely photo opportunity after photo opportunity we wouldn’t of attended. Shame.

Friendsfestive at The Old Truman Brewery did not disappoint. Well organised, most people were sensible and wore masks, al the l staff wore masks, the staff were friendly, welcoming, and so much fun. Social distancing measures was very good. Very clean toilets. You must try the lemonade. A joyful, wonderful experience, one I will remember forever. A great birthday and Christmas present rolled into one. My friend and I left with the biggest smiles on our faces. Thanks so much to the whole friendsfest team.

If you like a noisy,, bustling, fun indoor market where international flavors abound, this is the place to try in East London. I went for the Bangladeshi combo meal which was very satisfying, especially the chicken korma dish, but I could easily have chosen five other stalls that looked equally appetizing. The Chinese pork bao and beef and onion bao were also very tasty. My wife had Thai noodles that were excellent. Take your time, don't jump in and eat the first thing you see, but rather take a turn around and sample a few places. The stalls with long lines aren't necessarily worth the wait. Ask your stomach what it fancies and go from there. Some people find it overwhelming, but I appreciate the international ambience. I sat next to some folks from Korea and then some very friendly Spaniards sat down at my table. So much fun to talk to people from all over, and eat good food in a convivial atmosphere.

This could and should have been an enjoyable few hours, instead it turned out to be a pretty brief experience and I have a good idea of what it feels like being a sardine rammed into a sardine tin.
It was busy, stupidly busy, uncomfortably busy. Even the supposed VIP sanctuary was standing room only.
Either the size of the venue needs to be increased or the number of tickets sold reduced as right now it’s far from being a festival. More like a zoo.

Visited for Roys Art Fair at the old brewery. Good space, plenty to see and buy. Even had a bar set up.

Visited here today and ordered the smashed avocado poached egg on toast.
Waitress heard our order wrong the first time and it took 15 mins to get our drinks (that’s 15 mins of me standing at the till).
Food was good but avocado not smashed, not a problem but don’t advertise it as such.
Toilets revolting, piss all over the seat/floor!
Younger waitress incredibly rude and dismissive.
Place looked a bit grubby if I’m honest.

I recently attended an art show here and I was impressed with the size of the place. A lot of street art around here too if that is your thing. A few Indian restaurants right across the street as well. I felt no danger while in this area. I recommend checking it out one afternoon.

I played here last night and I really enjoyed the golf game on bozo, BUT after a short cue at the cloakroom and bar, we headed towards the courses we asked a member of staff on the first course where to go and WOW the response was WELL IT'S NOT THIS F#####G COURSE THIS IS PABLO. In shock we moved on and found bozo ourselves, quickly played our game and left. So a big thank you to the girl on Pablo in the black hoody for ruining our experience.

Found this place while visiting Brick Lane. Full of fabulous stalls selling all manner of food and really unique clothing, jewellery and gifts. Loved it and will definitely be back.
