All aboard the ‘orrible omnibus for a ride around the dark side of London....

All aboard the ‘orrible omnibus for a ride around the dark side of London. The Ghost Bus Tours’ classic Routemaster has been redesigned to give passengers London’s first ‘Fright Bus’ service. On-board actors and technical trickery combine to create the scariest tour in town. A creepy conductor provides the commentary for this sinister sightseeing show, revealing haunted places, unmarked burial grounds and the skeletons in the capital’s cupboard.

Great way to spend an evening. The conductor was fantastic. I walked away from the tour feeling more knowledgeable of the grim side of London. I'd say it's suitable for children from the age of 10/11 provided they aren't easily scared. Very entertaining, would definitely recommend.

We've wanted to do this tour for ages and, as we were in London for my wife's birthday, on we hopped. We weren't expecting to be genuinely scared (We both work in the NHS so we know what genuinely scary is!) so our expectations were open. It was great. Our female conductor was hilarious, superb comic timing and excellent knowledge.... More

Went on this ghost tour and I must say I loved it, I have read reviews complaining of the "health and safety" person, but you know what just enjoy play along and have a good laugh in parts....and yes it distracts a little, but all credit to her, I loved her...there is also some interesting facts to be had on... Great fun and informative. The tour guide was very nice, but his accent wasn't the easiest to understand. I think it might be a problem for people whose first language isn't English.

Me and a friend boarded this tour expecting an interesting experience, and we were definitly not disappointed!! The tour was interesting and spooky with a comedic twist. I would totally recommend this to anyone who is interested in the gory side of historic London and likes to have fun while sightseeing. The tour guide was hillarious and the surprises that... More

Booked ghost bus as a treat for hubby's birthday. The ghost bus was entertaining and also very informative of the sights and gruesome past of London. My only reservation was how we had to queue to get on the bus, we were all given a number but everyone could just get on as they fancied, later numbers got on before... More

Firstly this will not give you nightmares but i dont think that was the idea. The tour takes you around sights that are haunted or have a dark history. The guide was very knowledgeable and added the right humour. I took my 9 year old who was fascinated and entertained. Try to go when days are shorter so you get... More

Having done a few tours of London this one takes the cake. An alternative view of London that is extremely entertaining! While I personally didn't find it scary there was plenty of jumps from others and a kid reduced to tears- perfect. Well informed, funny and well acted our conducter was a treat. Anyone who wants an alternative view of... More

My husband and I had a most enjoyable trip on the ghost bus, we picked up the bus at Northumberland Avenue (directly opposite the Sherlock Holmes public house) - we didn't stop laughing all the way round! The buses are still in original state (with the exception of the nicotine stained ceiling and windows in the upper deck) our guide... More

Staying in Trafalgar Square / Embankment

Neighborhood Profile
Trafalgar Square / Embankment
With its iconic Nelson’s Column, majestic oversized lions and brightly-lit fountains, Trafalgar Square is not just considered the heart of this bustling London hub, but the very core of the city itself. Beyond this esteemed gathering place are more famous icons, as well as a disproportionate numbers of the city’s most popular cultural attractions including the National Gallery and many West End theaters. Along the way to these major sites are quiet lanes and antiquated pubs to discover, as well as riverside vistas to enjoy on the embankment. With a calendar full of celebratory events, any time of year is a fine time to visit.
