Around the clock, this is a haven for early morning bargain hunters sizing up its street markets, foodie foragers throughout the day, or late night revelers hitting some of London's most popular bars and clubs.

Spitalfields Market is one of London’s most exciting and lively markets, known for its unique blend of history, culture and contemporary creativity. Located in the trendy area of Spitalfields, near Liverpool Street Station, the market offers a great experience for both locals and tourists who want to explore London’s diverse food scene, crafts and artistic expressions.
The market has a rich history dating back to 1682, and today it is a vibrant hub for independent sellers, artists and food producers. One of the most attractive aspects of Spitalfields Market is its unique selection of stalls and shops. You’ll find everything from vintage clothing and handmade jewelry to modern art and interior design. Many of the local designers and craftsmen have a strong focus on sustainability and quality, making the shopping experience extra special.
The food selection at Spitalfields is one of the biggest attractions. Here you can taste a variety of dishes from all over the world, from authentic Indian curry and gourmet burgers to fresh seafood and vegan options. The many food stalls and restaurants make it the perfect place for an informal lunch or dinner, and you can easily make yourself a “food tour” by trying snacks from different stalls. The atmosphere is always lively, and you can often hear music and watch street artists perform, giving an extra dimension to the experience.
Spitalfields Market is also known for its theme days and special events, such as craft fairs and food festivals. These events provide a great opportunity to discover new products, learn about local artists, and get a taste of London’s creative scene. The market is open all week, but it is especially lively on weekends, when it attracts even more visitors.
The architecture of Spitalfields is also worth mentioning. The beautiful, renovated market building is a great example of how modern design can be combined with historic charm. The area around the market is filled with cosy cafes, pubs and shops, making it the perfect place for a full day in London.
Although Spitalfields Market is a popular tourist attraction, it manages to retain an authentic and local feeling. It’s a place where you can truly experience London’s diversity and creativity, and where every time you visit, there’s always something new to discover.
Overall, Spitalfields Market is a must for anyone visiting London. It is a perfect combination of shopping, food and culture, all packed into a lively atmosphere. Whether you’re looking to find unique gifts, taste delicious dishes or just enjoy a day of exploring, Spitalfields Market is guaranteed to give you a memorable experience.

Located in the Tower Hamlets district of London, the Spitalfields district takes its name from the hospital (St Mary Spital) founded in 1197 by Walter Brown and his wife Rose Brown, which was closed in 1538. It is around the buildings of this hospital, repurposed into houses and workshops, that this district was built by French Protestant refugees who, under King Louis France during the revocation of the Edict of Nantes in 1685. This district, which had become a true small French town, had nine French places of worship at the beginning of the 18th century. There had developed an important industry for the production of high-end silk. The large covered market in Spitalfields dates from this period. Several street names in the area recall its French origins (Fournier Street, Nantes Passage, French Place, Princelet Street, etc.). The French Huguenots were followed by the by Irish immigrants seeking greener pastures and, later, by Eastern European Jews fleeing harsh conditions in Russia and Poland. Nowadays, several other markets have taken up residence there (Brick Lane Market, Vintage Market, Backyard Market, etc.). An English entrepreneur and brewer, Sir Benjamin Truman (1699-1780), developed a brewery that bears his name in the Spitalfields district. Today, Spitalfields is a melting pot of cultural diversity characterized by chain restaurants, trendy fashion stores and art galleries. Street Art lovers will find several mural works and pretty facades to admire in this district.

What a great place to visit! The stalls are filled with artisan offerings - really creative and not just your standard flea market fare. The food stalls have a wide variety of international dishes. We grabbed a table (not easy) and got a mix of Indian, Chinese, Mexican and other food. Highly recommend.

I love spitalfields. It has the best food options and some great market stalls. Such a good find right next to the city of London. It always has a buzzing atmosphere and I want to try a new food choice every time I am there.

Explored the markets and surrounding neighborhood on a weekday afternoon. A fun part of London! The Spitalfield Market has a variety of food options, from sit-down restaurants to food stalls, and there are lots of vendors selling new and vintage goods. A fun scene. The surrounding streets are also worth exploring; they're windy, small, and fun to get lost in.

Did a tour that started near here and then walked around the market afterwards. Great architecture and people watching. The market is different by day and some really cool local vendors. Well worth a visit. Great history in the nearby area too.

Really enjoyable experience. Stopped for lunch, great choice for all. Very popular location, with great atmosphere. Could do with more seating, but we got a table and were away.
Totally recommend the visit.

Stuck for something to do on a chilly but bright January weekend, we took the train into Liverpool Street and spent a pleasant few hours wandering Spitalfields - the range of quirky stalls and food outlets provide lots to see and talk about.

We have visited Spitalfields two or three times in the past few years and it seemed even better when we visited last Saturday. It was just such fun wandering around the various stalls and so much choice as to what to eat. It was a lovely touch to find several benches and chairs in a warm area for us to sit and eat, chatting to some of the other people there.
