Description:

Ripping Yarns have been leading Jack the Ripper tours around Whitechapel...

Ripping Yarns have been leading Jack the Ripper tours around Whitechapel for over 25 years now and although a small company believe that the quality of tour must surpass all expectations, The Tour is now recommended in the Rick Steves Guide book to London both 2011 and 2012. We keep the cost of the tour at just £7.00,Where else could you get a great night in London for that price! But probably the best measure of a tour comes from the satisfied customers and a visit to the website to read the guest book and the comments that have been made by those that have taken the tour are a fitting testament to the level of satisfaction on offer. All the guides on this tour are serving Yeoman warders (Beefeaters) from the Tower of London so you can be assured that your guide knows how to conduct a tour properly and the tour content is such that it weaves the tale of Jack the Ripper, the social background the history of the area and helps paint the most vivid of mental picture of life and death in London's East End, this backed up by crime scene photographs, letters and evidence etc. The story telling aspect of the tour sets it apart from the other tours available, it does not just extol bland fact after fact. The Tour begins each night of the week outside Tower Hill underground station. meeting at 6;30 p.m. the Tour will commence at 6:45 p.m.. and lasts around 2 hours, guides will display a "Ripping Yarns " poster and will stand just outside the exit to the station. On this tour you only pay at the end of the tour because by then you'll have become a satisfied customer. Ripping Yarns Tours lead smaller manageable groups. The cost has been maintained at £7 per person which must be the best value night out in London.

Or guide for the night was Steve a Yeoman Warder or Beefeater at the Tower of London. So he was a fount of knowledge. Its a good 2hr trip around Whitechapel and the scenes of the dastardly deeds. He hands out information and shows the grisly photos of the victims as well as telling the stories. He also tells you... More

A thrilling but also funny tour, easilie to understand for people who are not a native speaker... It was very exciting and giving a good background information about the crimes of Jack the Ripper. Special thanks to Steve our tourguide who made this evening a bit more special and exciting with his personality.

We booked a Jack the Ripper Tour with Ripping Yarns. We went a long Way to Get to Tower Hill, where we were supposed to meet our guide. We waited nearly an hour but noone came. Eventhough we got an email confirming our apointment, noone gave notice that we were on our own. Just glad we did NOT pay in... More

We had a great tour and so much fun. Keep in mind though, no one has solved the Ripper case and you will not solve it either, but it will be a haunting tour through the area. The guides are great and really help you connect with the area. It was worth every penny.

We booked the tour based on Trip Advisor ratings and were not disappointed. Jimmy took us on a walk through Aldgate stopping at the various locations where street walkers were murdered by Jack the Ripper. Jimmy's description, "from ear to ear, not once but twice!!!", is forever etched in our minds and we have used the saying over and over... More

Great tour with a wonderful tour guide! He was funny, energetic and knew his stuff. We had a small group and he kept us all entertained. Decent price and the walk provide a really good look at some neat things in London.

We met Dickie at the Tower Hill metro station along with others, and we started the tour. Everything was great until.....my daughter literally fainted. Who knows why, but Dickie was elaborating on the early murders in detail, and my daughter went down. At first, I thought it was part of the tour, but no, when I saw it was our... More

Steve was our guide. He is a Beefeater in the Tower of London. He was super friendly and enthusiastic. We booked online and he remembered our reservation when we arrived which was great. 8 pounds per person is good value for a 2 hour walk and talk. There were around 12 in our group which was the right size; any... More

We were lucky enough to snag the second to the last tour with the yeoman who took us through the crimes of Jack the Ripper. He was dramatic enough to make the stories interesting and jolly enough not to completely creep us out. I've been on Jack the Ripper walking tours twice before, but this was the best yet. I... More

This was the best activity for our last night in London! Jimmy was the BEST! He had a great voice that everyone could hear and even kept us out of the rain. The tour was informative and fun with lots of gore--everything you'd expect. He great sport and even did a small video request for me!

Staying in City of London

Neighborhood Profile
City of London
From its ancient past as a Roman trading outpost to its 21st century status as the wealthiest square mile in the world, the financial district known simply as “The City” is one of London's most historic and fascinating neighborhoods. Here high rise office towers such as Norman Foster’s Gherkin mingle with Roman ruins and architectural marvels from virtually every era in between, including Christopher Wren's glorious St.Paul's Cathedral, and John Soane's dauntingly classicist Bank of England. This neighborhood is also home to some of the finest restaurants and plushest hotels in Europe, in addition to an assortment of watering holes, upscale shops, and Tube stations. During the week, the City is abuzz with white collar workers going about their business; the weekend sees this area turn into a quiet haven for sightseers.
