Description:

Ripping Yarns have been leading Jack the Ripper tours around Whitechapel...

Ripping Yarns have been leading Jack the Ripper tours around Whitechapel for over 25 years now and although a small company believe that the quality of tour must surpass all expectations, The Tour is now recommended in the Rick Steves Guide book to London both 2011 and 2012. We keep the cost of the tour at just £7.00,Where else could you get a great night in London for that price! But probably the best measure of a tour comes from the satisfied customers and a visit to the website to read the guest book and the comments that have been made by those that have taken the tour are a fitting testament to the level of satisfaction on offer. All the guides on this tour are serving Yeoman warders (Beefeaters) from the Tower of London so you can be assured that your guide knows how to conduct a tour properly and the tour content is such that it weaves the tale of Jack the Ripper, the social background the history of the area and helps paint the most vivid of mental picture of life and death in London's East End, this backed up by crime scene photographs, letters and evidence etc. The story telling aspect of the tour sets it apart from the other tours available, it does not just extol bland fact after fact. The Tour begins each night of the week outside Tower Hill underground station. meeting at 6;30 p.m. the Tour will commence at 6:45 p.m.. and lasts around 2 hours, guides will display a "Ripping Yarns " poster and will stand just outside the exit to the station. On this tour you only pay at the end of the tour because by then you'll have become a satisfied customer. Ripping Yarns Tours lead smaller manageable groups. The cost has been maintained at £7 per person which must be the best value night out in London.

The smaller group made it so much better, the tour guide was super knowledgeable and friendly! It was so surreal to walk in the footsteps of jack the ripper. We saw other groups out and they were massive, it was nice being in a smaller group, it made for questions and hearing the stories so much better!

It wasn't our first Ripper tour with these guys, but once again it was excellent and we learn something new every time. Even though there was only two of us and it was not really worth his time, Steve still took us on an excellent tour and made it very memorable with both his knowledge and sense of humour. We... Booked this at the last minute as part of a trip to London and so glad we did. We were a party of 4 adults and two 14 year olds and the tour was enjoyed thoroughly by all of us. Matt our tour guide was passionate about London and the East End and very knowledgeable about Jack the Ripper and... More

Really enjoyed the 'Jack the ripper' walking tour. Our guide did a fantastic job of recreating the 1880's to take us back to the scene of the crimes. Filled with great information, entertaining and authentic.

Straight up best walking tour I've done. I was really excited for this tour and it was even better than my expectations. Barney was an amazing guide - so engaging and knowledgable - he has absolutely convinced me who the ripper was. The tour was informative and chilling without being overly dramatic and cheesy which was fantastic. I feel like... More

Jimmy our tour guide was great - very knowledgable, factual, without all the cheesy theatrics. Learn a lot about the neighbourhood.

Staying in City of London

Neighborhood Profile
City of London
From its ancient past as a Roman trading outpost to its 21st century status as the wealthiest square mile in the world, the financial district known simply as “The City” is one of London's most historic and fascinating neighborhoods. Here high rise office towers such as Norman Foster’s Gherkin mingle with Roman ruins and architectural marvels from virtually every era in between, including Christopher Wren's glorious St.Paul's Cathedral, and John Soane's dauntingly classicist Bank of England. This neighborhood is also home to some of the finest restaurants and plushest hotels in Europe, in addition to an assortment of watering holes, upscale shops, and Tube stations. During the week, the City is abuzz with white collar workers going about their business; the weekend sees this area turn into a quiet haven for sightseers.
