Just came back from the East End Cycle Tour with Mathew. Even though it rained during part of the ride we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. This probably is the best way for a tourist to learn about east end London and to experience its history, population and culinary flavours. Mathew was an excellent and charming guide always aware of our needs... More

I was hesitant to tour London on a bike because of the length of the tour and the traffic, BUT this tour ended up being in my top 3 things I did in London!!! Mathew is an excellent guide and I actually could have biked longer! (2 moms in our fifties and our two girls in their twenties.) in my... More

Thank you, Matthew! Your bicycle tour was the highlight of our trip to London. My friend and I (56 years old) are here touring with our (23 year old) daughters. When I was planning the itinerary for the trip, I wanted to combine history with fun, making sure all of us were entertained and educated. Matthew was the perfect combination.... More

This is the second summer I have enjoyed Matt's East End Tour and I loved it even more today! We met at his new location in Bloomsbury Square and I saw buildings and sights that were new from last year. Matt's groups are always small so you hear everything clearly and he has time to answer questions. I booked my... More

The three of us met Matt on a sunny Sunday morning to do the East End Tour of London. We were able to leave our backpacks in a secure locker. We toured alleys, side roads and cycle lanes on this tour and discovered an alternative London which we really enjoyed. Matt led us expertly to Shakespeare's Globe Theatre, Borough Market... More

Matt was beyond amazing with the tour. My two friends and I were the only ones booked for the morning tour and afternoon tour so he let us do a lot of sight seeing and photo opportunities. It started about 10:30 and took us to a great area for lunch and gave us about 40 mins before moving along. We... More

I have done 2 of these tours and plan to do them again when I visit London in May. Matt is just wonderful, so interesting and full of facts. His tours are smaller than the others you see in London and far more personal. Matt has kindly provided bespoke times on one occasion when his schedule suited. A great gift... More

Don't miss this cycletours! I have done all three and I will do them again, and again. This time I didn't book in advance as I was unsure about the weather. But in a short notice Mathew guided me and my brother with wife on the "sight of London tour". Though I've been to the city many times cycling with... More

Staying in City of London

Neighborhood Profile
City of London
From its ancient past as a Roman trading outpost to its 21st century status as the wealthiest square mile in the world, the financial district known simply as “The City” is one of London's most historic and fascinating neighborhoods. Here high rise office towers such as Norman Foster’s Gherkin mingle with Roman ruins and architectural marvels from virtually every era in between, including Christopher Wren's glorious St.Paul's Cathedral, and John Soane's dauntingly classicist Bank of England. This neighborhood is also home to some of the finest restaurants and plushest hotels in Europe, in addition to an assortment of watering holes, upscale shops, and Tube stations. During the week, the City is abuzz with white collar workers going about their business; the weekend sees this area turn into a quiet haven for sightseers.
