Religious sancturay/
May 2018
Despite being in the heart of London, this convent is an absolute sanctuary. In the upper chapel, the nuns take turns to do adoration 24/7 and anyone can join her at anytime (I became a bit worried about their security, though, especially at night). The nuns in this convent live in recluse, but there is 'open afternoon' on the first Sunday every month (subject to change, please check the website). Sr Thomasina welcomed us and gave us a guided tour of the lower chapel with Tyburn Tree and the garden. There was a priest from the US in our group, and he gave us blessing in front of the tomb of Mother Marie Adele Garnier, the foundress of the convent. After the tour, we were offered refreshments by other nuns, who were all very friendly. I could tell that they were enjoying meeting people from outside world once in a while. It was an incredible experience to me overall.

Historical retreat in the middle of London
Apr 2019 • Solo
If you're Catholic or a history buff, you really ought to check this place out for its significance. A multitude of men and women died for their faith at this location in response to the English Reformation. You can view the relics at particular times of the day or just sit in the silence of the chapel (open 24/7). I would suggest you confirm that there is a sister available for the relic tour, however, as it's not always a given. It's about a 10 minute walk from Paddington station and across from Hyde Park.

An important part of our history swamped in the middle of so much traffic

So many men and women were hung here and this convent is all we have to show for it. The actual spot is on a traffic island beside Marble Arch. So sad that they gave their lives for their beliefs !!
