Rude Staff, swore at me. Excused me of using toilet without buying a drink said it's apparently its polite to ask to use the loo yet I'd been sat outside since 9pm ish with my boyfriend having a drink he went to the bar to get the drinks that evening. I wonder how it's possible for them to track everyone who's sitting in and outside the bar on a busy Thursday evening. Completely disgusted at how I was spoken to buy the 2 female members who were on shift on Thursday evening. We had been sitting outside having a drink we decided it was getting late so I came into go to the loo and my boyfriend went to pick up a KFC we had ordered from next door. As I left I got abuse shouted at me. I explained I had been sitting outside having a drink. it a shame as we only live one street away. I Won't be returning to my local will use another local from now on. I would advise people to do the same.

Man who worked behind came round for a chat and found it appropriate to make a racist comment. Can't find the name of the brewery that owns the pub to get in touch. Really quite disgraceful.

Rude staff this needs to change maybe a new owner needs to take over

I have been coming to this pub like a local one for years and the service has been going down hill , you can shouted out and ridiculed by asking a question. This needs to stop we can have landlords treating customers like that.

If you like your pints with a side of thinly veiled racism then then look no further than The Old Emporium. NFL players referred to as “pooftas in pads” when asking the owners to put a game on. On another occasion being told to F off for wearing an Özil Germany top and then being aggressively confronted for being on my phone at the bar whilst waiting to be served. The owner (5” 8, balding with glasses in case you accidentally end up here) actually spat in my face “I wouldn’t be on the phone whilst having s*x with my wife so don’t do be on your phone here it’s rude”(after an exchange where I tried my best to humour his aggressive engagement) despite the fact the barman was loading the dishwasher at the time before he proceeded to serve me slightly awkwardly mid rant from his assumed superior. The female owner, Good lord. Slurring and spitting as she leaned into us and shouted “last round on the darts last round on the darts” (post s*x incident instigated by her husband and co owner) claiming that the bell had gone - we raised the fact that it hadn’t actually gone and she proceeded to walk around the bar and ring it whilst staring that us in a hands on hips confrontational I told you so” manner (this despite the fact it didn’t shut for half an hour at least, costing them revenue) Embarrassingly weird. The owners then left after forcing the boozer the close early. I raised these points with other punters upon my departure was met with “it’s not the first time we’ve seen this...”
Would avoid this gaff at all costs. Proper weird aggressive to minority vibe going on here. Damn shame as they showed the footy and it was my local. Avoid at all costs. They don’t deserve business the way they treat their customers.

The Old Ale Emporium is one of those real old-fashioned locals - not just a pub, but a second home. The people are wonderful, the cosy interior is beautifully designed, there's music and TV and great drinks for a very good price - especially on a Saturday night, the joint is really jumping!

Quite a typical spit-and-sawdust English boozer. Mostly local crowd and pretty cheap. Nothing particularly remarkable with this pub but it's one of the rare such establishment on Green Lanes, so it serves its purpose nicely.
