A friendly welcome from the 2 owners - who also brew and share front of house duties. They have converted our local kids bookshop (hence name) into a micro brewery and pub - I believe the only one to do so in U.K. Genuinely making the journey from brew to tap measured in 20ft.
Books, games and Camra literature sit on the bookshop shelves.
Scattered tables and mixed seating make for a convivial and relaxed atmosphere.
No kids, no music and no tv.
Some soft drinks and wine available for the uninterested in beer types. Although good beer is the point of being there.

A small microbrewery with, maybe, a dozen beers on tap. It is cash only. Pints start at around £4.00, and are delicious. Board games and books can be borrowed to keep one happy too. On the 3rd Monday of each month the local Backgammon club meets too. A quirky pub, but fun.

Beer was decent enough - not quite to my taste but that's fair enough I think, we're at a stage where there is a lot of experimentation with different styles and flavours and not everything is going to hit the spot.
The service though - good grief. The one thing that small independents like this have control over is customer service. I don't know whether the guy who served us was just having a bad day, or if he's really like that, but very rude, condescending, misheard our order and then got narky about it.
He couldn't have been more condescending if he'd tried - and you got the sense he put a lot of effort into trying to be condescending. My advice is - if you feel a deep personal need to prove to people that you're cleverer than they are (and lord knows, many of us feel that way) - maybe don't put yourself in a position where you're serving the public.
Frankly - I can't help thinking he mistook me for someone else - someone who had really annoyed him in the past, or a particularly violent criminal who was released on a technicality and who he thinks should still be locked up.
The place itself is nice enough - a little rustic, not dirty but equally you get the sense no-one is rushing around trying to keep it ultra clean.
Given the other reviews it does make me think they were maybe having a bad night - however the reaction I got was so passive aggressive rude I don't think I'd dare go in there again.

I was lucky enough to go to this pub last year and returned again when visiting the area and found it to be just as good. I just love this tiny pub in an old bookshop. Such amazing decor, such good beers, and great atmosphere. Perfect! Long may it continue.

Pre-dinner drink at microbrewery in Northfields, Ealing. Excellent beers and lager with real taste. Friendly owners, worth a visit. Close to Northfields tube and bus routes so easy to get to. Something different.

There is a good range of craft beers in this bookshop converted into a micropub. The decor is impressive with elements of the old bookshop having been tastefully left. Most interesting of all is the toilet with a hand basin on top of the cistern to save water. Staff are most friendly. Another advantage is that you can buy excellent cheese from the shop next door, get them to cut it into small cubes and buy some biscuits and the pub is very happy for you to eat this while you drink beer.

This micro brewpub is great and run by a couple of friends. They brew a range of beers in the back and serve out the front in a very relaxed atmosphere. A whole range of different beers with different stories....if you like a beer you need to go.
