Neighborhood: Soho
The go-to district for a good time in London, Soho hosts a wealth of world-class theatres and a compelling lineup of cafes, restaurants, pubs, bars, and clubs. At Soho's core is London's original Red Light District and the epicenter of the LGBT scene – and thus the city's hottest nightlife. For shopping enthusiasts, Soho is not only the home of London's greatest concentration of boutique shops, but also the most strategic place to set off on a tour of the world's most celebrated department stores. In the southern part of the neighborhood lies Chinatown, with its multitude of delicious and affordable restaurants. Closer to the Thames, Chinatown's narrow and teeming lantern-lit lanes spill onto the expansive hub of glitzy Leicester Square.

What a little gem in the heart of Soho! An abundant and eclectic selection of jazz, funk, Afro-Cuban, afro-funk, reggae music on vinyl and CDs. Not cheap by any means but much of what you find here isn’t easily available elsewhere and you can listen to your vinyl before buying. They also have music books for sale.

Standout record store in a neighborhood that has several decent record stores. Excellent selection of classic and new jazz. Prices for secondhand records reflect market value which isn’t always the case. The staff is wonderful. When they didn’t have a few, relatively obscure releases, they suggested other stores in London that might have them. They even cheerfully wrote out a list of other record stores with locations. All the more remarkable because it was minutes from closing time on a Sunday. Instead of trying to get us out of the shop to close up, the staff were eager to help. Highly recommended. We will be back on future visits to London.

This is easily the best record store in Soho for variety and rare deals. Great mix of genres ranging from punk, funk, soul, reggae and jazz across to World music. There's a huge selection of vinyl downstairs. Vinyl collectors can often find rare gems that they can't get elsewhere. For those of us who still buy CDs, the choice is way better than in shopping malls. Reggae features prominently, not least because this store is linked to Soul Jazz Records. The 70's soul section could do with a bit more depth, but punk and Brazilian music are well presented. Best of all, the staff are friendly and there's always some awesome tunes on the turntable.

Start your journey here for Soho's famous record stores. Then continue up Berwick Street. This is cool Britannia at its best.

Record shop where the most remarkable stuff are the books. Very expensive records though apparently some of them are second hand. They sell bags for vynils which are also very useful and affordable.

Great to find one of the diminishing number of London’s old style record shops, lurking at the end of Broadwick Street just off Wardour Street in Soho. It offers pretty much every genre of music you can think of, with lots of rare material. There’s an Aladdin’s Cave downstairs with music books galore. As you’d expect, the staff are amazingly knowledgeable. This is about as good for music nerds as it gets.
