The area
Neighborhood: Bloomsbury
Snuggly nestled within Central London is academic and leafy Bloomsbury, an area that boasts walking distance access to many of London's most popular attractions. It is also home to some of Britain's most celebrated museums, including the must-see British Museum. Despite an understandable popularity with students, tourists and day trippers, vast sections of Bloomsbury retain a quiet, residential feel year round and throughout the week.
How to get there

A statue worth the detour
Sep 2021 • Business
The statue is more beautiful than I was expecting despite all the positive comments I'd got from others.
Worth a visit and taking time to enjoy not only the emotions of the couple towering above...but the frieze around the base.
Coffee shop meters away to relax and enjoy the incredible skills and workmanship gone into this stunning piece of art which is an antique of the future....

Aimed to capture a tender farewell moment or a loving reuniting embrace between two people in a busy travel environment, The Meeting Place statue can be found on the first level of St Pancras Station.

It’s below a huge wall clock and easily noticeable as it is thirty foot tall! Wasn’t sure whether something like this would be a good fit in an International Train Station but it actually ties in very nicely with themes of separation and ultimate yearning for your loved one’s return. Quite nice.

Easy to find in a station that looks a lot like a maze
Feb 2020
As a traveler, finding your way around railway stations is always a bit of a problem. Finding a friend at St Pancras could be downright difficult. So, my suggestion would be to use the meeting place. It’s on the first floor of the station, provides a nice look over the rest of the station and it’s also the place where you can see the Eurostar leave. There are also some nice places to have a coffee or business meeting that are also a bit less crowded then the ones on the ground floor. PS: don’t use the glass lifts as a meeting point. There’s two of them and they look exactly the same….

We happened to randomly walk into St. Pancras station at the entrance where this huge statue is located. I absolutely love it. It's huge and very romantic.

Impressive

This is a most stunning statue near the eurostar terminal. The main statue is great but I do like all the smaller sculpture round the plinth. It is what it's called a meeting place for traveller's.

Enormous statue but still difficult to find

This is very definitely a marmite sculpture; you’ll either love it or hate it. Because the station is so huge and there are no signs to the statue, it’s surprisingly hard to find even though it’s so big at around 9m high. Must people come into the station straight onto the shopping concourse or through the entrance opposite Kings Cross station, while this is a long, long away on the Grand Terrace under the clock. I actually preferred the sculptures on the frieze round the base, which depict many scenes of everyday life and are beautifully cast in bronze. But very worthwhile tracking it down.

The Statue of two lovers: an English man and a chic French Women
Oct 2019
People either love or hate this 9m high, 20 tonne, £1m (in 2007), bronze sculpture upstairs in St Pancras Station. I am not sure that I really like the two lovers, but I do like the images in the bronze relief frieze around the plinth that was added latter.

The work is modelled on the sculptor, Paul Day, and his half-French wife Catherine. Originally the couple were meant to be kissing, but that pose was considered too risqué (for the English at least!), so the statue shows the lovers clasping hands and touching foreheads The sculpture, known as The Meeting Place, aims to symbolize the meeting of two cultures. Traditionally, in England, the place to meet someone (especially a lover) was always under the railway station clock, so that is why his sculpture is situated where it is.

Beautiful and such a poignant and lovely statue. It was bigger than I expected. Did feel there should be signs to it

At the main entrance into St Pancras station you can't miss the Meeting Place sculpture of two people pleased to see each other, its a fantastic 9m tall and well worth a viewing.
