Hyde Park Corner is a great place to visit, particularly if you are interested in observing monuments. Many of the monuments in this area commemorate the human sacrifice in major world conflicts. Some of the monuments recognise the important contributions of Commonwealth nations including Australia and New Zealand

PROS
* World renown place with many many memorials and monuments
* Very popular and central location
* Entry to a great humongous very popular park
* Epic place once for soap box speeches

CONS
* Very crowded with people
* Challenging to access due to busy streets

"I VISITED THIS PLACE"...
... twice- once when my bus passed it and I saw it from my perch on the top at the front window and I jumped off with excitement and then i returned to ride a Santander bicycle through it. I immensely enjoyed both times

WAS IT WORTH THE COST?
It is free

WOULD "I VISIT THIS PLACE" AGAIN?
I'd like to do that when I'm again in the area

ADVICE
* Go and se the monuments an memorials also
* Watch out for all kinds of traffic- cars, busses, walkers, tourists, joggers, bicyclists and families with small children

Why significant memorials are placed on a busy, noisy and dangerous traffic island intersection defeats me. Hyde Park Corner is an exciting place to drive around, provided you are not driving! If you are visiting the memorials which are surrounded by traffic be prepared for lots of walking and waiting at traffic lights. It is not user friendly but one of the tourist spots of London.

It is located near Green Park, near Buckingham Palace. It is the site of several important military monuments and memorials. It is entered through the Wellington Arch.

Hyde Park Corner is dominated by the structure that leads into Hyde Park. Place is rammed with bikes and tourists. Lots of joggers and dogs. Great structure.

While Hyde Park corner is a busy traffic roundabout, it has a huge amount of history here.

On the north side is Apsley House and Decimus Burton's entrance screen to Hyde Park, and on the southeast are the gardens of Buckingham Palace.

The central space has many memorials around the great Wellington Arch, which if you visit gives access to the high level balconies and their great views of adjacent streets.

The one downside is the series of tunnels from the tube station. The walls do provide information about the history here, but personally I prefer to use the crossings above ground. The tunnels are not unsafe; they are just not very nice and are a home for homeless people

Only seen from our hop on hop off bus, but quite busy here. There is Wellington Arch and the gates the horses parade through for Changing of the Guard at Buckingham Palace.

This is the main entrance to Hyde park.
While the entrance itself is rather ordinary, the Wellington arch sure is impressive.
