The area
Address
Neighborhood: Greenwich
Greenwich Mean Time starts here, so to speak, as the very concept of global time was established at Royal Observatory, just one of several buildings of architectural interest in Greenwich. Indeed, the whole of Greenwich's historic town center, its Royal Park and a number of related buildings (and one world famous ship, the Cutty Sark) make up the UNESCO World Heritage site known as Maritime Greenwich. Today a laser beam is shot out across the night sky from the Observatory to mark the location of the Prime Meridian. Other bold (some say brash) 21st century additions to the area include landmarks such as The O2 entertainment complex (previously known as the Millennium Dome) and the Air Line cable cars, which offer scenic transport across the Thames between North Greenwich and the Royal Docks.

Late post....The exhibition was very interesting and informative. Lots of pictures, videos, artefacts and memorabilia of his life but nothing regarding his family life. Even though it was interesting, I was looking for something I had not already learnt from the press . Overall it was enjoyable few hours.

The exhibition was very informative with lots of pictures and information plaques.
The story was chronologically laid out and described in a very moving way.
I learned a lot about the great man in a short time

A great exhibit....although a little muddled

The wife and went to see this exhibit and neither of us left disappointed. There were some great artefacts and videos.....the only thing I would say was that there was very little direction. We were given audio machines free of charge (which is nice in this day and age), however none of the points of interest seemed to have any chronological flow. One minute you were in the 70's, the next the 60's. I feel I missed quite a bit purely because there wasn't a flow to it.

Definitely recommended, a great portrayal of a great man's life.

Went with my brother who is a huge Ali fan. We really enjoyed it and found out more about the man. Some of the exhibits were replicas but it didn't spoil it for us. The soundtrack was a little indistinct at times but overall good. Well worth seeing.

A very good insight into one the greatest sportsman of modern time

It was good learning all about Muhammad Ali from his early childhood until his sad passing. They were showing all his fights and there was a special area of his UK fights with Henry Cooper.

Not what we expected

My husband and I went to see the exhibition yesterday. The O2 was an amazing venue if you have never been..However the exhibition was a big disappointment. As a massive fan of this great man my husband was excited to say the least.
We wanted to say more original pieces from his life not copies. If you are a fan you will have seen all of the videos they show. There was nothing we hadn't seen before.
At one stage there was just a lot of pictures but in no particular order. The high light was the massive boxing gloves and boots !!!
The shop at the end of the exhibition was another big let down. Nothing special .
Sorry but this won't stick in our mind as One of the Greatest Exhibitions we have ever seen.

He's my partner's hero, and this didn't disappoint. He learned some new things, and enjoyed watching the old fights again. It was sometimes touching, sometimes funny, sometimes sad, and overall thoroughly enjoyable.

Ali was the Greatest, this Exhibition was not

I was deeply saddened by the passing of Muhammad Ali, a highly principled man as well as being an outstanding athlete; he seems to have been in the news one way or another throughout my life from the time he won Olympic gold in 1960. It was fortuitous that this exhibition of his life had been showing at the O2 shortly before his death and I had no hesitation in going to see it.

I spent an hour and a half there and was absorbed by the stories, the photographs, the memorabilia and the videos of his life and many of his fights, aided by the hand held audio guide. But the exhibition was not well presented. The first 12 stops on the audio guide were a little difficult to follow in sequence, but I did manage since they were in separate rooms off the central display area. However, the quality of the sound on some of the videos was very poor, and sometimes I couldn’t hear what was being said – you’d think in this day and age they could have been digitally enhanced to at least make them audible. Hearing what was being said was made even more difficult because of the noise from other videos in adjacent rooms. Once you enter the central room, any semblance of organisation seems to have been forgotten. I went round and round the room several times trying to find the next numbered stop on the audio guide. And all the time there is a cacophony of noise from the many videos of fights being shown, with no logical system of finding any particular fight you wanted to see. The final presentation video which closes the exhibition is a jumble of unconnected video clips accompanied by unnecessary, overbearing and irritating music.

Worth a visit - boxing fan or not
Aug 2016 • Family
Treated by my daughters for a belated Fathers Day treat. Boxing and Mohammed Ali have gained two more fans after this visit, they enjoyed it as much as I did. Lots of information on Ali displayed and added to by the audio guide. TVs all around the main hall centre continuously showing all, or most, of his fights, a feast for boxing fans.
