A relaxed and recommended visit
Oct 2021 • Family
Impromptu visit on what happened to be the last day of the season prior to reopening next April, so serendipity was at play. Great value for money, interesting yet concise audio guide and a house that piques one’s curiosity without being overwhelming in terms of size and ostentation. Thanks go to staff member Monica who emanates sincere geniality and conveys factual tidbits so effortlessly.

Unspoilt and peaceful.

Lovely setting, beautiful house, gardens and lake. Very tranquil considering the number of main roads surrounding it.
Very impressed with the staff, couldn't be more helpful.

Nice House
Oct 2021 • Couples
The House and Gardens at Chiswick are well worth a visit. The House is free to English Heritage members and the gardens free to all.

An hour or so should be sufficient for a visit to the house. The gardens a bit longer still.

Chiswick House an excellent London day out
Sep 2021
Our visit to Chiswick House and gardens was full of surprises. This is such a beautiful, peaceful treasure yet so close to the hustle and bustle of everyday London. The formal gardens and parkland are freely available to everyone during daylight hours. We spent hours soaking up the atmosphere on the many paths through this lovely landscape garden, with many eye-catching vistas and features created over the centuries throughout this wonderful space.
The café and shop provide really good service to both visitors to the house and local users of the park.

The house provides a glorious centrepiece to the estate and there are great views, whether through trees or across the beautiful lake. The interior is truly sumptuous and offers so many memorable delights.
Part of the ticketed visit included the kitchen garden - one of the best maintained and most interesting kitchen gardens we have visited. The staff and volunteers could not have been more happy to share their enthusiasm for their work.
A great day out being enjoyed by so many groups and individuals,

Beautiful house and gardens
Sep 2021
Thoroughly enjoyed my visit. Well kept, beautiful gardens, artwork and lovely buildings. Cafe next door to Chiswick House did great coffee and there is a fantastic walled fruit, veg and flower garden that you can wander round if you are a ticket holder. Volunteers were brilliant and couldn’t have been more welcoming. My only grizzle was the lighting inside the house. In most of the rooms I could barely see the details of the paintings because they were so poorly lit. I understand that the pictures need to be preserved but I wanted to be able to see them still. There must be a way to view them safely without harming them? I also got lost as there was only 1 sign to the House at Chiswick station and then nothing. Even the road signs were missing so couldn’t use the directions I’d printed out. However, 2 lovely local ladies walked me close to one of the entrances when I asked them if they knew the way. That was a nice start to my Chiswick visit! I’d definitely recommend a visit and I plan to return when it isn’t pouring with rain and I can get to see all of the gardens.

Beautiful house and gardens ❤️

Visited here on Friday and availed of the Travelzoo offer where the ticket was only a fiver...bargain! It’s a very beautiful museum and a special shout out to Peter that was working in the gift shop and absolutely bursting with pride to work there. It’s wonderful seeing someone with so much passion and knowledge. There seemed to be more staff then customers but it was worth the visit to see where Beatles performed and the kitchen garden was beautiful.

Intersting Palladian house in Chiswick
Aug 2021
Came across this little gem almost by accident while staying in Hammersmith, so decided to pop in for a visit. Well laid out, with a good audio guided tour round all the rooms, giving the history of the family and how the house has developed over time. Not crowded on the day of our visit, so that made it a more pleasant experience, especially as some of the rooms aren't as large as you might expect for a house of this stature. Lovely grounds as well, with good views, a serpentine style lake and good and easy walks. Gardens are free to walk around but the house and walled kitchen garden are charged (free to English Heritage members). Victorian plant house out of bounds at the moment. Pleasant afternoon out.

What a lovely place..

What a great place to visit. Really interesting house and the gardens are lovely too and the kitchen garden quite fascinating.

Really useful audio guides which are free and explain each room but never in a stuffy way.. The staff are very helpful and friendly too.

Really well worth a visit and only 10 minutes from Chiswick station.
