I've never tried an escape room before but now I'm hooked. Absolutely loved this place, tried the prison cell and escaped with 1 minute and 40 seconds to go. The lady who works there is really helpful and gave us some hints to help us out. My advice to anyone who's not sure if they'll enjoy it is to just go for it, I'll be surprised if you don't have a great time. We'll be back to try to escape from the other rooms.

Absolutely brilliant way of killing a few hours. The staff were very accomodating and allowed us to all start at the same time (despite having three different booking times for three groups). The games were excellent and a really good one hour mental workout. The wizard room was great fun, and we managed to escape with 10 minutes to go.

This place is brilliant! Had so much fun in the prison cell, we needed about two more minutes to get out but had a great time! Will be back 😊

Great evening spent with friends in a cell. Challenging game to keep you on your toes. Location bit out of town but worth the walk.

Armageddon Great escape room, very immersive and well themed. Some excellent equipment not seen in an escape room before. We enjoyed the room so much we did Golden Cage straight afterwards. Best one I've visited in Liverpool

This year my wife and I went to four different escape rooms in England as part of our vacation and have been going to escape rooms since 2015. This was our first experience at GamEscape.

Unlike rooms in the US, in England, when you reserve a room, your group has the room to themselves so you do not have to worry about another group being scheduled in the same room at the same time.

You can reserve a room online and see what times are available. The online system was not letting us reserve the room so we had to call. When I called to reserve a room, the person was friendly and accommodating. Make sure to plan some time to arrive at this location as it is outside the center of town so be prepared to walk or get transportation. We stayed at the Hard Days Night Hotel by Liverpool One and it took about 10 minutes. There are three different rooms at this location so we decided to attempt the Golden Cage. The backstory of this room is that your party has been transported back over 300 years, where a mystical wizard has locked you in a mysterious, magical room. Here are some highlights about the room without giving away anything about the actual game.
This room was nice sized so larger groups can be accommodated. The room was appropriately decorated and had enough light to see the contents of the room. There were a lot of puzzles to be solved that were challenging and fun while not be too difficult and confusing. The puzzles were logical and there were not a lot of detractors in the room that can waste time for solving puzzles. As you unlock things, clues are provided to assist you to solving the next puzzle which is nice. Some rooms require you to put all the pieces together yourselves. To accompany you on your journey, as with other escape rooms you have a guide. Our guide was very helpful and assisted as needed (unlike in many rooms from the US where you only receive 3 clues). To communicate with the guide in this game, you will receive written hints under the door. We received just the right amount of hints to help us to escape the room before the hour time.
One suggestion my wife and I would make for the room is to include a countdown clock so participants can see how much time is left so they can time out their hints.
As compared to the approximately 30 rooms we have attempted it is in the top for entertainment and challenge factors. We would definitely recommend this location and look forward to attempting one of the other rooms next year when we visit Liverpool. Hope some new rooms become available at the location.

Three adults and a teenager couldn't quite escape from the wizardy room but we had an awesome time trying! None of us had done anything like this before but now we can't wait to go back!
Thank you to the lovely lady who made us feel very welcome and was very encouraging despite our failure! Top marks to her!
Apparently some other escape room places are more high tech or a bit more up on the special effects than this one but they also seem to be a lot more expensive. This was really good value for money in my opinion. You just probably have to use your imagination a little bit more. We were so caught up with solving the puzzles that I don't think we were even that bothered about the setting anyway and surely that's the point of the place. Like some other reviews suggest, it might be a good idea to cover the window though. It is a bit distracting to be able to see out into the real world!
The only thing that we thought could be better was that there is no first clue so, being novices, we were a bit lost to start with. It might be helpful to have a clue to start you off. We loved having the hints passed secretly under the door though, not knowing if or when they might appear.
Overall, a really fun way to spend time together and to work up an appetite before lunch. We will definitely be going back to try out the other rooms.

Went for my stag do, had a great time with 2 different teams competing to be the best. Was so good we went back the next day and luckily they could fit us in to do one of the other rooms (3 in total). Great fun and pretty puzzling at times!

The building itself is a little further out of town than other escape room places we've done in Liverpool, but we managed to find parking quite near in the evening without any problems.

We arrived a little early and were greeted by a very friendly lady who checked with us whether we'd done rooms before, and then talked us through the specifics of the company before letting us jump straight in.

We were doing the Golden Cage which we found to be really fun, though we needed a fair few clues along the way. We're more used to getting clues through a TV monitor at other places we've been to, but here clues were slipped quietly under the door in an envelope if it looked like we needed them. We found this to be quite endearing and soon came to think we'd been visited by the clue pixies...

I've seen another review mention how dirty they thought the place was, but we didn't find this to be the case at all... quite the opposite in fact, as it would probably benefit from a bit of 'grubbying up' to add to the atmosphere!

Speaking of atmosphere, one thing I would agree with that I've seen mentioned is that the window in the room could do with either covering over or maybe having some etch or stained glass effect material applied to it to still let light in but to also block the view. Looking out onto a Liverpool backstreet kind of shatters the illusion that you've travelled back 300 years.

I also now understand what a couple of other things I read said about a specific puzzle near the end which requires a certain piece of somewhat anachronistic equipment, but I guess if we could have been brought back 300 years, then so could that. Either way it didn't detract from the fun.

In the end we actually failed to escape in the time, but as we'd arrived and started a little early the lady very kindly let us finish as we were only a couple of minutes away. Still chalked it up as a lose though... we're far too honest.

GamEscape may be a little further out of town than other places, but we found a warm welcome there along with a lot of fun, so it was well worth the visit. We'll definitely be back.

I planned for my friends who were visiting Liverpool to go to the Golden Cage. It was only 2 of them and they enjoyed it. Recommend to visit with more people but in general al the layout and tips were amazing,
