We visited here as soon as it opened at 5pm on Saturday and were pleased to find it very quiet at this time. The staff were so accommodating and even went as far as to make an off-menu cocktail for my partner. The bar itself is just beautiful with 1930s style music and even the menus were hidden within vintage books to follow on the theme of the secret bar. To me those extra touches really make it special! Unfortunately we had to leave early to make a dinner reservation but we returned later that night at around 10.30pm. It was to be expected that the bar would be very busy and loud at this time but for me it was not as enjoyable, so we left. I would 100% visit again but not on a weekend night. If you want a quiet, special and romantic evening then definitely visit at a quieter time.

Word of mouth led us to this cool speakeasy ... then we happened to read about it in a great book called "111 Places in Liverpool That You Shouldn't Miss." The reviews were spot on. Great atmosphere! Huge drink selection included a lot of two for £10 cocktails. Bartender and server were extremly friendly and entertaining. A real character place!

I found this online a while back and I’ve been wanting to go for about 2 months , so much so I rushed my partner shopping in Liverpool just to get here for opening time haha. We had been in town a few hours concert square and Matthew street and I was just sick of it always trouble, teenagers, riff raff and just the typical atmosphere… we walked to Berry street and knew exactly which building it was, with a little nock on the door we were greeted by a very friendly waitress who asked us for track an trace, when we entered it was quite dark, ambient and blinds closed. Already felt like I had stepped into another world and away from riff raff Liverpool I’m not too fond of. It shows it’s secrecy as you don’t feel like your on a busy street. Showed to our table and given complimentary water iced with napkins and a free sort of fancy shot which was a bonus, given a menu in old newspaper style. Furniture very old fashioned and an old piano in the corner, insense burner going which smelt gorgeous. Staff always around asking how it is and do we need anything. By far worth the wait and will make this my local place to go when in Liverpool. Not told many about this place just to go find out ;) to good to tell.

Hidden away with access via an unmarked door gives the management the oppotunity to control numbers and who they want in the bar. This leads to a great atmosphere, the right amount of people and good service. We were lucky to get the last available table for 4. Amazingly mixed cocktails, some very unusual, but blended just right. Shabby chic decor, low candle lighting and no windows means that it takes you to another place with cool music and the right volume to have great conversation... Something often overlooked these days. Friendly waiters and just a great place. Worth a try to get in every time.

We had wanted to visit this “secret” bar for a while and my partner and I, his sister and her fiancé came here June 2019 after we’d been for a meal elsewhere in town. When we arrived there was a small queue but within a couple of minutes the friendly doormen let us in and we were shown to a table. There seemed to be a nice atmosphere, the place is narrow and quite dark inside adding to its atmosphere. We were given drinks menus to order our cocktails and I was disappointed as it was all bourbon or gin cocktails but nothing with vodka etc. My partner and his sisters fiancé seemed to like their cocktails but me and his sister both ordered the same and it wasn’t very nice just very strong with a chemically flavour. Because of the lack of choice on the menu and also I felt our waitress could have been more welcoming (perhaps she was just having a bad day we all have them) and although it seems to be a popular place so maybe I was unlucky but I couldn’t give this place on this visit any more than 2 stars. A shame really!

Was recommeneded this place by one of my mates. Me and my girlfriend came here - super chilled, lovely atmosphere and cocktails are absolutely unbelievable. We had a good chat with Dan who was extremely passionate and knowledgable about alchohol and run in particular, in fact I left with a new bottle recommendation which is now sitting comfortably & proudly on my drinks shelf. If you haven't been here for a drink you're missing out!

Black fronted bar with no signage or bell. Knock on the door and if there is room you will enter a single roomed pub with a prohibition style air.
Attentive staff table serve a huge range of drinks and some truely amazing cocktails.
A good place for a first date or to impress visitors from out of town.
Be prepared to wait outside for a table to be ready, as this place is very popular.

Such a good find! We went here for cocktails and it was so much better than expected. Cocktails were delicious, we weren’t sure what we wanted so our waitress recommended some, they were delicious! We also got complimentary little drinks which were SO good.
The atmosphere was great with a live piano player. Would love to visit again.

Always visit Berry & Rye when in town. A little spruce up during lockdown is noted - especially the William Morris wallpaper. Drinks were excellent and mixed well. Ace atmosphere and a massive thank you to the guy who met us at the door and looked after us for the evening. So nice to be back in a venue where you almost forget the last 18 months never happened. Mucho mucho amor.

This was probably my favourite visit to a cocktail bar in the UK. As a lover of whiskey cocktails I very often don't get many options, but here there is a fantastic selection of cocktails, made to the highest standard. I especially enjoyed my Sazerac and Brandy Crusta.

It's a small cosy space with speakeasy vibes. We got some live piano music too. We had to wait for a while to get in due to limited capacity with social distancing measures, but we were welcomed in the queue and kept updated.

If you care about high quality cocktails, make sure you pay a visit.
