What a fantastic place! We were lucky to do a Victorian guided tour with Kath who was very friendly and knowledgeable about the rooms and the house. We liked the fact that we did not have a guided tour for all rooms, but we could go and visit the house and the rooms we had not seen during the tour afterwards and spend more time looking around. In all rooms there were volunteers to answer our questions and it was very pleasant to talk to them. The park is lovely and it was nice to walk after our lunch at the café. We had a Scouse and a jacket potatoes and both were lovely and not too pricey. We also had a nice piece of cake and a tea later that day in the courtyard and it was very pleasant to relax. All staff and volunteers we talked to were very friendly. We talked a bit more with Jim who was very nice and helpful. We had a great day. THANK YOU!!!

What a beautiful place to visit and spend your day. My son, husband and I with our two dogs visited Speke Hall on Friday 10th Sept
Staff were so welcoming and very friendly , they made us all feel part of a family community. Every member of staff spoke to us making us feel that they knew us . Beginning with the wonderful staff as we entered who were so welcoming and helpful. From the brilliant kitchen garden gardeners who were just so natural and funny. To the Lovely staff in the cafe who went above and beyond. They were a delight. The food was so delicious especially the carrot soup and the cakes were amazing just so many found it difficult to make a choice (reasonably priced )
Every where was immaculately spotless . Toilet access and cleanliness 5* Easy access with prams or chairs( all one level) close to the car park so no lengthy walk. Lots to see and do for children and adults . Beautifully kept garden. I will now be a regular visitor.

Initially we walked around the grounds, forestry, nature trail, surrounding fields which were free from litter and impeccably kept.
After our walk we visited the restaurant where the staff were warm, friendly and extremely accommodating. The kitchen staff catered for my friends dietary needs even though they did not form part of the fixed menu. The front of house staff member (Joyce) who took our order offered my friend variations from the menu to suit her requirements. The food was adequately priced, delivered hot and very quickly and was well presented.
We had to sit outside due to having our dogs with us and the weather began to turn as we were finishing our meals.
We noticed that a large party of young children with supervisors arrived at this time and as it had started raining Joyce attempted to erect the external canopy to accommodate the large party. Unfortunately due to the wind it was not a successful act but non the less Joyce went out of her way to try and assist the group.
The toilets were clean and well equipped.
Although we did not make use. of the facilities we noticed that there was a childrens play area, maize, nature trail and gift shop.
Our overall experience whilst visiting Speke Hall was very pleasant and we shall definitely return in the future.

Well where to start..... we booked tickets for what was labelled a spook-tacular and immersive action packed show. It was little more than 4 poorly dressed actors stood on a lawn under a national trust gazebo. It was awful. There was nothing spook-tacular about it in any way. £40 for tickets then an additional charge of £24.50 just to enter the speke hall gardens being told that the theater company is separate from the estate so £64.50 to see a shocking show that my kids actually walked out of one of whom is only 5. Not for all ages. Cringe worthy costumes and baby singing nothing halloween no decorations or lights even just really really bad. And actually quite disgusting the price tag for what it was. And just all round massively dissapointed it was one of our half term treats times are tight and not may get to splash out on things for the kids at the moment and this was just a big waste of time and money I really can't describe how bad the show was.

It’s a shame most of the National Trust properties seem to be closed, not sure why they need to close for winter cleaning, Speke Hall was no exception. They mange to keep the gift shop open and the restaurant. Why can’t they clean one room at a time and let the paying, and paid up, members of the public in to at least part of the Hall? The gardens at this time of year are nothing to look at, in fact even for this time of year they look somewhat unkempt. It’s a nice enough building to look at in a good setting, but not sure it was worth the effort to visit it in December

I visited Speke Hall on 29th September and was disappointed to find that upstairs wasn't open because there weren't enough guides. Every room downstairs had a guide, and they were all friendly and helpful, but surely some could have gone upstairs. I have been a house guide for twenty years in a far bigger house than this and I know it isn't necessary to have a guide in every room! What we did see was very interesting, but I would liked to have seen it all.

What a wonderful day my husband , son myself and our two dogs had on Friday 10th Sept @ Speke Hall.
Easy access. Car park is right next to entrance and all on one level .
Staff were very warm and welcome. Staff chatted away in such a friendly way to us , giving much support and appreciated information.
Toilets were 5* cleanliness and such easy access ( one level )
Kitchen garden staff were so entertaining and funny and what a good job they do of keeping the upkeep of the garden
The cafe staff went above and beyond. The food on offer looked and tasted delicious. I also thought reasonably priced snd presentation was beautiful.
The house and gardens are beautiful and you must see. The walks and views are so enjoyable. Great little areas to just sit or picnic
It was a lovely calm experience we’re staff go to great lengths to welcome you. The place is very safe if you feel you want to come alone.
We left feeling part of a family community so for this we will definitely be back.

We were fortunate to go on the Victorian Tour here at Speke Hall. The Hall itself is a fine old building but I did find the internal rooms rather dark and forboding. However our guide, dressed in formal Victorian black coat and top hat, gave us an interesting tour, which definitely lifted the spirits.
We also enjoyed walking in the grounds here. The kitchen garden was really lovely and well in advance of my own garden. NT members gain free access.

Visited today with the children for half term, lots of parking and friendly staff upon arrival. The maze was lots of fun as the trees are of a good height now. The children’s play area could do with a few more pieces of equipment and unsure why the climbing frame has been removed. Really disappointed in the Child of Hale trail, this has just been left to deteriorate. Pieces of musical equipment have been removed or left to rot, the measuring pole, there is only one plaque left on it. The woodland play area, the zip wire has been tied up for over a year now, again unsure why. I feel that they need to invest more money into the facilities they offer for children.

My family and I have just been to speke hall and walked around the gardens. It was such a lovely, joyful experience after the stress of the last 4 months. My mum, brother, partner and I have been looking forward to our visit.
At the moment all visits are timed and ticketed . But that didn't spoil the experience.
Our visit started at the main gate. Two ladies met us. One took the details of our tickets and the other lady let us though the main gates of the hall.
Just stepping into the grounds, you feel all the stress leaving your body. Even though the visit was a timed visit, you don't feel rushed or feel the need to hurry around. There were families there and everyone was so relaxed. We know that the house wasn't open and we only wanted to have a good walk in the fresh air.
We visited the stable tea room and the staff were lovely. They were so friendly and professional. It was nice to see friendly faces.
I wish to thank them so much for always making our visit to speke hall complete by having a snack and seeing their friendly faces.
Thanks girls! You both are so kind and we know that our visit will be fantastic.

Has anyone visited recently and is able to tell me if the zip wire has been repaired and also the condition of the play area. I wish to bring an 11 and a 9 year old boy and don't want them to be disappointed with the play activities,

Can I park overnight with a van?

I would not advise this. The estate gates are locked overnight.
The car park is exposed.
There is a good caravan site on Wirral, Thurstaston.

Hi we are thinking of visiting next friday to do the Easter egg hunt. Do we pay the entrance fee for the grounds only or do we have to pay for the house also (we are not planning to go around the house).

Hi, you can just pay for the grounds only. It’s £8.70 (standard admission, not gift aid per adult, £4.35 for a child or £21.75 for a family ticket for grounds only.
I believe the Easter Egg hunt is an additional £2.50.
The grounds open at 10:30 am though I would double check before you go.
Hope this helps.

Do you pay an entry fee just to go in the grounds as the house is closed for now?

Yes you do to enjoy the extensive gardens, woodland, coastal trail plus all the family activities- the admission fees help toward the care and maintenance of this special place.
Join the National Trust and admission is included here and all properties. 3 visits a year and it pays for itself.

Can anyone tell me what sort of time frame it takes to view the house and grounds?

I would say about 3-4 hours the house and grounds, afterwards having lunch or afternoon tea. Its a day out really, weather permitting of course. Even if its cold its still a beautiful place to visit .

I was there in October, so not sure about Christmas festivities. As previous suggested, best to look at them on National Trust website.
It is a lovely 'black and white' old building in a nice setting!! so I would imagine it's a lovely place to go for Christmas.
