Despite lockdown. It was a delight to visit again. Such a pleasure to see so many families with young children enjoying the many puddles. Coffee on the way in was fabulous, but the curry and cauliflower pasty on the way out was stunning. Staff as ever helpful, cheerful and efficient.

I booked for the Woodland Walk tempted by the timed entry and one way system - and it was supposed to be signposted. We met people coming towards us and randomly wandering families and we couldn't follow the route. We had been told we come to a map but never did. There were junctions with no signs and eventually we came near the end without having been in the Woodland! So we disobeyed the rules (carefully) to try to repeat the walk. We came to only one place where we could get on the bund, which should have been part of the walk, but it was "exit only". So we disobeyed the rules again as I really wanted to walk along the bund. We walked back along the bund in the right direction and met people coming towards us. I explained what had happened to us but they knew nothing about the walk anyway. I felt so frustrated and angry. It was supposed to be my birthday treat.

Visited today after checking website believing the Hall etc was open. Arrived n headed over to the tour entrance. Was greeted by a young woman who took our entrance fee n then advised the Hall was closed but gardens n restaurant open. Disappointed the Hall was closed as this was the main reason for our visit. However, as keen walkers we started our walk.... every trail closed except the one that started at the entrance n took you back to car park. Absolute joke would have been better going on to Hale or even to a local park!!!

In fairness the website does explain that the Hall itself as well as other parts of the property are closed or have restricted access owing to the current Covid 19 pandemic. All of the gardens, woodlands and Bund walk are open. Only the Coastal Reserve path is currently closed. It’s frustrating but the National Trust are providing a safe environment for all visitors during this difficult time.
